Chapter 491: The Eclipse’s Breaking Point.

Chapter 491: The Eclipse’s Breaking Point.

(Third Person's POV)

The presence of one person seemed to bring hope that the tides of this battle could be changed. The eclipse’s shadow had swallowed the cave, painting everything in bruised reds and deep blacks. Crystals embedded in the cavern walls pulsed with dark light, casting fractured reflections across bloodied faces and shattered stone. Marcus stood at the center of it all, power radiating from him like a living thing. The possessed spirit inside him had reached its peak, veins glowing faintly beneath his skin, eyes burning with an unnatural, merciless light.

Killian was on one knee, breathing hard, blood dripping from a gash on his brow. Brian leaned against a broken pillar, one arm hanging uselessly at his side. Alec was braced against the wall, chest heaving, trying to keep his balance. Theresa stood in front of Taylor, trembling but unyielding, her hands glowing faintly with what little magic she could still summon. Dylan hovered a few steps away, wounded, furious, and lost. And Marcus raised his hand, dark energy spiraling around it, ready to end everything.

“Enough,” he said in a voice that was no longer entirely his.

The ground trembled as the spirit surged forward, pressing against his consciousness like a tidal wave. The air itself felt heavy, suffocating, as if the cave had decided to bury them alive. Then a new voice cut through the chaos.

“Marcus.”

The name echoed through the cavern—soft, trembling, human. Everyone turned in disbelief. Stella stood at the entrance of the cavern, her hair disheveled, her clothes wrinkled, her eyes red and swollen from crying. She looked small in the face of the devastation, but she didn’t hesitate. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t look afraid.

She stepped forward.

“Stella,” Brian whispered hoarsely. “What the hell is she doing here?”

Killian’s heart dropped into his stomach. “She shouldn’t be here,” he muttered. “We told her—”

“She never listens,” Alec murmured, though there was no irritation in his voice—only dread.

Marcus froze. His hand hovered mid-air, dark energy flickering uncertainly, as if even the spirit didn’t know how to react to her presence.

“Stella?” Marcus whispered, his voice cracking. For a split second, his eyes lost their glow, flickering back to their natural color. Confusion flashed across his face. “What… are you doing here?”

The spirit snarled inside him, but Stella didn’t hear it. She only saw the man she loved. She ran. Her footsteps echoed across the cavern floor as she crossed the battlefield, dodging broken stones and pools of blood. She didn’t look at the others. Didn’t look at the devastation. Her gaze never left Marcus.

“Stella, stop!” Theresa shouted. “It’s not safe!”

But Stella didn’t stop. She reached Marcus and threw her arms around him, pressing herself against his chest with desperate force. Her hands clutched his shirt, fingers trembling, as if she was afraid he would vanish if she let go.

“Marcus,” she whispered, voice breaking. “Feel me. Please. Just feel me.”

Marcus stiffened, his body going rigid. The dark energy around him faltered, spirals collapsing in on themselves. “Stella…” he whispered again, like her name was a lifeline. His hands hovered awkwardly at his sides, uncertain whether to touch her or push her away.

She took one of his hands and pressed it to her stomach. “And feel him,” she said, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Feel our child.”

The words hit him like a physical blow. Marcus’s breath hitched. His hand trembled beneath hers. For a heartbeat, he was just a man again—terrified, overwhelmed, human.

“I… I thought…” he whispered. “I thought you were safe. I told them to keep you away.”

“They tried,” Stella said softly. “But you needed me.”

The spirit inside him roared. Marcus screamed, clutching his head as he staggered back, dark energy surging violently around him.

“No!” he snarled, voice layered with something inhuman. “You are weakness. Love is weakness. She is a tether—cut it!”

Marcus dropped to his knees, gripping his temples, his face twisted in agony.m“I can’t—” he gasped. “It’s in my head. It won’t shut up. It won’t—”

Stella knelt in front of him, ignoring the danger, ignoring the eclipse, ignoring everything. She cupped his face with shaking hands, forcing him to look at her. “Look at me,” she whispered. “You’re stronger than it. You always have been. You fought your whole life to be better than what they expected. This is just another fight.”

The others watched in stunned silence. Taylor’s hands trembled at her sides. “She’s going to get herself killed,” she whispered.

Dylan stared, his expression unreadable, jaw clenched tight. The spirit surged again, dark tendrils wrapping around Marcus’s arms, trying to pull him back under.

“Get away from him!” it snarled through his mouth. “He is mine!”

Marcus screamed, body convulsing as he tried to resist. His eyes flickered between glowing crimson and their natural shade, as if two souls were fighting for control. Stella reached into the pocket of her jacket.

Killian’s eyes widened. “What is she—”

She pulled out a small vial. It was the emergency powder. The one she wasn’t supposed to have. The one she had hidden from everyone.

“She kept one,” Brian murmured in disbelief. “She planned for this.”

Stella uncorked the vial with shaking fingers, her eyes never leaving Marcus.

“This is it,” she whispered. “This is our chance.”

Marcus looked at her, fear and hope battling in his expression.

“Stella, don’t,” he whispered hoarsely. “I might hurt you—”

“Then I’ll stay with you,” she said simply. “Either way.”

The spirit sensed danger and surged violently, dark energy exploding outward. The ground cracked beneath Marcus’s knees. The crystals pulsed faster.

“Stop her!” it screamed. “She must not—”

Stella didn’t hesitate. She raised the vial and blew the powder straight into Marcus’s face. The fine particles shimmered faintly in the eclipse’s light, swirling around his features like silver dust. Marcus gasped, inhaling sharply. Then he screamed. The sound was raw, primal, filled with pain and fury and terror. He collapsed fully, clawing at the ground as his body convulsed violently.
