Chapter 55

Eric.

The next day, I received a barrage of calls and texts thanking me for the gifts I had left. Even my own men had gotten something. Emily must have done her own digging and got all four of them something too. *Probably for the best. Don’t want my men to think the new guys are getting preferential treatment.*

“You’re amazing,” I told her, kissing her forehead as yet another text pinged on my phone.

“Oh? And what did I do this time?” she asked innocently.

I held up my phone which continued to ping. “All of these messages are because of you and your brilliance. Your gifts were a hit. And I’m so glad you included my Gammas. I never stopped to think of the consequences not including them might bring.” I turned off my ringer and set the device on the coffee table.

Her face lit up with a smile. “All in the work of a good assistant.”

“Good? You’re the best.”

A mischievous grin spread across her face, and a small fire lit within her eyes. “Prove it.”

“Ho-oh-oh” I chuckled, enveloping her in my arms from behind. I bent over and kissed her neck, right on the spot I had marked her. A shiver ran down her spine and she tilted her head away, giving me greater access.

I trailed kisses across the side of her neck as my hands made their way up from her hips to her breasts. My pointer finger circled them teasingly through her shirt and she let out a small moan. My hand slipped down the neckline of her shirt and she gasped as my kisses became stronger until I was sucking.

“I could leave more than just the mating mark,” I thought to myself.

The more noise she made, the harder I played. I lifted her shirt over her head, gaining better access to the beauties underneath. I lifted her up, her legs wrapping around my waist. With one strong hand, I held her plump butt, while the other explored her body. I captured her lips with mine and her arms looped around my neck.

Suddenly, the door opened and I heard Tyler exclaim in surprise. “Oh geez! Get a room!”

He shielded his eyes with his hand and turned his head away.

I just chuckled and put Emily down, handing her her shirt to put on. “Just be glad you didn’t wait to come in,” I laughed. “You would have been scarred for life.”

Emily put her shirt on. “You can open your eyes now, Tyler. The show is over.”

He lowered his hand and brushed his hands down his shirt, brushing away invisible crumbs. He cleared his throat. “Well, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve come up with a plan for Ravensworth.”

“And you had to come all the way here to tell me?” I asked.

“Well, I wouldn’t have to if you would answer my texts.”

I combed my fingers through my hair. *Shoot.* “Sorry, I turned off my notifications because I kept getting text after text this morning from the guys.”

“Things went well yesterday?”

“Very.”

He nodded. “Good.”

“Anyway, what’s this about Ravensworth?” Emily asked curiously. “I thought you had dealt with that when you captured me.”

“Not in the slightest,” Tyler replied. “The numbers didn’t make any sense. It wasn’t until your brother showed me everything that things started to click. We spent most of last night coming up with this plan.”

“Daniel helped you?” Emily asked, eager to hear about her brother’s contributions.

“Yes, he was surprisingly helpful,” Tyler responded, slightly begrudgingly.

“Good,” I replied, and saw Emily smile. I knew she would be glad to know her brother was turning his life around.

“Anyway, I can see you two are busy. We can go over the details later. But before I go, can I get a word with Eric? Privately?”

I looked at Emily to gauge her reaction. She looked at me and shrugged. “Sure.”

“Why don’t you go upstairs and wait for me? I’ll be up in a little bit,” I said with a mischievous grin, a twinkle in my eye.

She returned my grin and nodded, heading up the stairs and into the bedroom, closing the door behind her. I turned back to Tyler, trying to get pictures of Emily out of my head and focus.

“You need to take her on a honeymoon. No more waiting. No more excuses.”

“But the merger–”

“Will be just fine. Daniel and I can handle it. Your Gammas are already on board.”

“But what if I disappoint her?” I asked, looking back at the room. I had never admitted I was afraid of not being enough for Emily.

Tyler just scoffed. “You? Disappoint her?” He shook his head as one does to a small child’s logic. “She’s been beaten and sheltered her entire life. You couldn’t disappoint her even if you tried. All you have to do is be yourself. You, Eric Savelli, will sweep her off her feet, and make her fall madly in love with you.”

I snorted. “You definitely have more faith in me than I do.”

“And that’s why I’m your best friend, and the best Beta there is,” he said with a wink.

“But where do I take her?”

“Anywhere away from here. You don’t even have to be here for nearly two weeks. That’s when your race is, isn’t it?”

I nodded.

Then a grin crept up my face. I knew exactly where I would take her. I hadn’t been in so long, but I knew it would be the perfect spot - secluded and romantic.

“I know that face. You have an idea,” Tyler said, pointing at me.

“Go do what you need to. I’ll email you the deets you can review before you leave.”

I nodded. “Thanks.”

We did a little specialized handshake and he left, closing the door tightly behind him. I stepped forward and locked it for good measure.

I pulled out my phone and made a quick call before I headed up the stairs to finish with Emily.

Daniel.

After having spent the whole night with Tyler working on a plan, I hit the bar to unwind. I promised myself only a couple of beers. When I got there, I told the bartender not to let me get any more drinks after two and slid him a bill. He nodded and handed me an uncapped beer. I took a swig and let my shoulders relax.

My ears perked up as I heard Emily’s name being whispered from a few tables down.

“You should have seen her! She was the bravest I’ve ever seen.”

“And to have gone through what she has. You have to be real tough to become a better person.”

“Ya, she’s the kindest soul I’ve ever met.”

I smiled as the compliments for my sister passed through mouth after mouth, the words of her bravery and kindness spreading like wildfire.

*Good. They ought to realize what an amazing Luna they’re getting.*

I finished the one beer and decided I had had enough. I stood up and walked out, with no particular destination in mind. I just thought I would walk until I was tired.
