Chapter 7 CHAPTER SEVEN
CHAPTER SEVEN
MAX’S POV
I walked to my chambers and changed into my night robe. The night was still young, and there were a lot of matters I should attend to, so I walked back to my office.
Getting to my office, I sat on my chair and filled my glass with water.
The thought of Zaria drooling over me at the pool was still fresh in my memory. I tried to shake it off, but it still lingered.
“Shit!” I cursed under my breath, irritated at the attention I was giving her, she fucking seduced me to get where she is now.
Women always drool over me, but it's different with Zaria and I hate it.
“She is just like other women, they just want to be Luna,” I hissed, gulping down some water.
I took the affairs book, trying to distract my mind from her, as she was supposed to be the bare minimum.
Luckily, Raymond walked in.
“A perfect distraction,” I exhaled. “Tell me some good news, what did you find in the North territory?”
Raymond shrugged, as he took a seat across from me, with a wide smile on his face.
“She isn’t from there, Max. If you need to find more details about her, then move to the west wing, neighboring packs had never heard that name,” He said, and I huffed.
I hate hearing the fact that our investigation into the palace murder has no lead, for years we have been trying to investigate, others have lost interest, except Raymond, and me of course.
“It’s too far, she would not have come from somewhere far,” I said, stroking my mustache.
“That would be the least of your problems, when I tell you the new Luna has gotten suspicious,” He said, gulping my glass of water.
“What does that mean?” I panicked, that is the palace secret, to be more specific, my secret, no one knows what happens around that corridor except Raymond and me.
The court members once raised their suspicion but I dismissed it immediately.
“I saw her wandering around the corridor,” He said. “She even tried to open the lock”
“What!” I exclaimed, hitting my fist on the desk.
My blood boiled, how could a maiden be that nosy? I would certainly teach her a lesson.
“Relax! I stopped her and told her that the room is for only court members,” Raymond smiled, and the freckles underneath his nose shone. “But sooner or later she might find out the truth, so that’s left for you to worry about”
I nodded my head, as I thought of ways to make her pay, for being nosy.
“Our marriage is barely a week old and she is already a thorn in my flesh,” I mumbled.
Raymond burst into loud laughter, enjoying my discomfort.
“How dare you laugh at your Alpha’s discomfort,” I growled, but that only increased his laughter. What the fuck is amusing about being stuck with Zaria?
“It is fun seeing you have woman trouble, I pray she stays longer,” He said, choking in his laughter. “I beg to take my leave, I have a wife and child”
“Get the fuck out of here, you are only making things even stressful for me,” I sneered at him.
With a bow, Raymond walked out of my office leaving me to my thoughts.
I quickly signed all the letters, so they would be ready for dispatch while I am in college.
Being an Alpha and a student is stressful, and all the blame goes to my father for dying while I am still in school.
After signing the letters, I went back to my chambers to see Zaria pacing around the room.
“She is fucking threatening to make me pay for stealing her place, I know you want to make my life hell, but bringing her into my life again, is crossing a fucking line!” She snapped at me.
I am always amazed by the way she speaks to me, without showing me any respect. She got some nerve, and it grows every damn day.
“That is none of my business” I snapped back, “Get ready for tomorrow, you will be meeting the women in your court”
“No, I am going for classes, you can meet them” She scoffed, dragging the duvet from the bed.
Zaria has refused to share the same bed with me, and it is infuriating, many women would kill to breathe the air that I breathe.
“No, your classes can wait but the Pack’s affair can’t,” I snapped. “You will miss your classes and attend to your court ladies, that is an order”
Everywhere fell silent, She didn’t respond, that was strange, cause normally she would fight back.
I cleared my throat and showed no emotions.
“I heard you were in the corridor today,” I said, without looking at her.
“Yes, the door was locked, he said it’s for court members, since I am meeting with the court ladies tomorrow, I would like us to have our first meeting there,” She said, and my eyes widened.
What does she have to be this brilliant?
“You can’t meet anyone there, it is off limits,” I stated, not ready for any negotiations.
“But they aren’t just anyone, they are the bloody court ladies, we want to have our meeting there,” She protested, as she lay on the floor comfortably.
“Zaria, this is not up for debate!” I growled and felt bad immediately for speaking to her like that.
“I can’t volunteer to miss a class, for nothing. It is either we have our meeting there, or I go for my class,” She said, blankly, getting more comfortable on the floor.
Raymond did a horrible job telling her that the rooms are for court members alone, forgetting that the women have court members as well.
“Piece of shit” I mumble to myself, then turn to her, “You will get a comfortable place for the meeting with your court ladies.
“I was stating a fact, and not negotiating with you,” She said rudely, in a tone no one would ever speak to me with.
“How dare…”
“Shush, I need some rest,” she said, shutting me up.
She fucking shut me up, and is at the edge of discovering the palace's deepest secret.
