The Prophecy
— You should have told me right away! How can you leave an allied Alpha waiting alone, Derik!
She got out of the bathtub and threw a towel at my head. I admired her as she got dressed, with a very idiotic smile on my face, happy that she was still here and hoping that everything would go back to its place. Lord Agar must be happy, in Hecate's kingdom, to see that we won!
Derik carried me to our room, wrapped in a tiger skin he found in the chest in the bathroom. I dressed as quickly as I could, and we headed to the Alpha's room. My Gamma and Beta were there, sitting before Alpha Ares, who was emptying a tray of food on the table in front of him.
— Alpha Ares, forgive us for making you wait so long!
He quickly stood up, and I moved to meet him. I hugged him and could feel that he stopped breathing for a few moments.
— Luna, your well-being is more important!
He seemed awkward, his arms down, but he didn't push me away.
— Thank you for coming to help us!
Derik came up behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist, and pulled me away from Ares.
— He didn't help, female. He watched everything from afar!
— You didn't need help! — He replied, before sitting down and resuming his meal.
— How is Esmeralda? Is it true that her pup was born? — I asked all at once what I wanted to know.
— Yes… Hmm… that's what I came to talk to you about, in private.
He glanced sideways at the Beta and Gamma, and Derik asked them to leave us alone.
— What happened? Everything's alright, isn't it? — I asked anxiously when we were alone.
— Everything's fine… with all three.
— Three? — Derik asked, surprised. That was the first time I felt the aura of his wolf return, albeit very weakly.
— Esmeralda gave birth to two pups.
I jumped from joy and almost ran to hug Alpha Ares again, if not for Derik tightening his embrace, preventing me from moving away from him.

— Ares wouldn't go through all this ceremony if things were simple!

Ares put down his food, took a sip of wine, looked at us, and said in a low voice:

I don't understand much about these things, only the little Rebeca told me in captivity. In the case of twins, if one of them is an alpha, they are usually bigger, stronger, and are the first to born. Sometimes, they are the only one who survives, as they feed much more than their sibling, who doesn't thrive.
— Is she your heir? — Derik asked, trying to better understand the situation.
— No, she is a legitimate omega, not an alpha. The point is, she has an aura that I can't decipher. The witch read the future of my pups, she confirmed my male as the future Alpha, but the words she used with my female during the trance won't leave my head.
I don't think I've ever heard Alpha Ares talk so much, but his image was that of a loving and worried father.

Ares's intonation sounded more like a demand than an affirmation or request.
