Chapter Nine
Saturday – Southern Maryland
Finn
I’m sitting on the couch watching Melody stand on one foot. The other is bent and resting on her knee. She is at the kitchen sink, a bowl of cereal in her hand. Looking out the kitchen window assessing the ice from last night’s storm. I chuckle when I realize that she looks just like one of the flamingos on her pink and white pajama shorts. The curves of her ass are just peeking out from the bottom of those short shorts.
“Hey, are you there, buddy?” Rachel squawks in my ear through the phone. “What did you say your friend saw? Wolves? Down your way?”
“Sorry, I’m here. Yes. Wolves. Have you heard anything about any sightings in our area?” Rachel is a buddy who went to the police academy with me. Now she works for DNR. I called her once we were up for the day to see if she could shed any light on the idea of wolves in our county.
“Well, Finn, not really. Gray wolves are not known to be in Maryland, and the red wolves in the mountains of western Maryland and some parts of Virginia wouldn’t be down that far south. Are you sure that’s what you saw?”
I shift on the couch, still watching Melody eat her breakfast as she dances around my kitchen to the music she has playing softly on her phone. She turns and smiles at me with milk running down her chin. Then laughs at herself and wipes it away.
“I didn’t see anything, buddy, I’m just asking. We have heard some things in the area, and I’m just trying to see if it is a possibility, is all.”
“I don’t think so, Finn. I think if you’re hearing of neighbors losing chickens, what you are hearing or seeing is coyotes. I can make some calls, but I really don’t think wolves are the answer out there.” I get up off the couch and make my way towards the kitchen as I end the call with Rachel.

Melody
“All right. Thanks, buddy,” Finn says, walking up behind me in the kitchen. He disconnects and sets his phone on the kitchen counter next to mine.
Just before he ends the call, I hear a female voice saying, “No problem, anytime, hun! I’ll talk to you later.” In an instant, I’m jealous, and I’m thankful my back is to him, so he can’t see the look of anger in my eyes.
“Who was that?” I ask around the last bite of my cereal. Then I dump the milk from the bowl into the kitchen sink and proceed to rinse the remaining bits of it down the drain. He grabs me by the hips and spins me to face him.
“My buddy with the DNR. She says that it's more likely that you’re hearing coyotes in the area. Not wolves.”
I show my jealousy when I say, “Well, your buddy can’t tell me what I heard, and that doesn’t explain the dreams at all.” Smooth move, Mel. Bite his head off.
“Wow. take it easy there, killer,” he says and holds his hands up between us. “What’s this attitude about?” I look down at the ground between us, ashamed of my outburst. My cheeks feel hot, and I know I’m blushing. But I don’t hold back.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize your buddy at DNR was a woman, hun.” I spit the last word out with more venom than I expected. I’m still looking at the ground and refuse to make eye contact.
Shit, Mel.
“Oh. This is about Rachel?” Finn puts a hand under my chin and tips my head up to make me look him in the eyes. Squinting, he looks back and forth from one to the other. “Is that jealousy, lass?” A small smile spreads across his face. “It doesn’t suit you, love. I will say I am getting a hard-on just from the fire in your eyes. But the sass in your voice, it’s no way for a lady to speak. Didn’t I tell you before, at The Den, that if you were my sub, I’d make sure we put that mouth of yours to better use?”
I chew on my lip and then glance back down at the floor, starting to shift uncomfortably from foot to foot. I’m embarrassed by my outburst. He is holding my face with his hand still under my chin.
“Look at me, Melody.” I look back up into his eyes and glare at him. The rational part of my brain is yelling at me, but the jealous bitch that woke up when she heard the woman’s voice on the phone is sitting in the corner sharpening a stick. Ready to go to war. What the fuck! Stop it!
Finn’s eyes widen when he sees mine. “Don’t be like that, lass,” he says, his voice softens, and he rubs my jaw gently with his thumb. “There is no reason for you to be jealous. Is this new hair giving you the fiery attitude redheads are known for? Little Red.”
He hasn’t loosened his hold on my jaw, and he is making me look him right in the eyes. He leans forward and rests his forehead on mine, then sighs. He turns my head to one side, nips my ear lobe, then whispers in my ear, “What am I going to do with you, Little Red?” When he turns my face forward to face him again, his eyes are full of fire to match mine. They flash dark amber, and I cringe, sucking in a sharp breath.
“That’s right. You want to fight. Two can play this game, Mel. Do you want the Wolf?” Oh, fuck. Yes, sir! The last bit of rational brain I was holding on to just left the room. I’m looking for a fight now, and before I even realize I’ve made the decision to do it, I roll my eyes at him. Finn laughs then, low and deep in his chest. He steps towards me and pushes me back against the kitchen counter. My back is arched as Finn gets in my face.
“Oh lass, you don’t realize what you’re asking for.” Dropping his head to my neck, he puts his hand on my lower back, pulling me against him. I can feel his hard cock digging into my hip. Finn growls into my neck and nips my collar bone. I feel his canines, sharp on my skin, and the sensation sends a shock wave through my body to my cunt. I'm hot and ready, my knees buckle, and I throw my hands back to the edge of the counter to catch myself. Finn laughs again, throwing his head back.
“You dirty little slut, you want it rough, don’t you?”
“Yes, sir,” I breathe out, my head swimming with lust.
“On your knees.” His hands are on my shoulders, he tries to push me down to the ground. But I hesitate, remembering our conversation from last night.
“Finn, I didn’t mean to push you,” I say softly, looking at him questioningly. “I’m sorry, I was jealous and looking for a fight. You don’t have to do this. I don’t want you to do something you’re unsure about. You said last night…” He pushes on my shoulders again, and I let him guide me to my knees in front of him.
“Hush!” he says forcibly. “I’m going to show you what that mouth of yours is best used for.” He unzips his jeans as I settle onto my knees on the floor. I spread my knees and reach down between my legs. “Ah, ah, ah. Did I tell you to move your hands? Palms flat on the tops of your thighs. Keep those knees spread, and lift up onto your heels. You’ll not be grinding yourself against your legs or using your fingers on my pussy. I told you you’re mine, and I meant it. Open.” The one-word command keeps me from hesitating, so I part my lips and take him into my mouth.
“Mmm,” I moan around his dick at the same time that he tips his head back and moans toward the ceiling.
“Relax your jaw. Take me in, baby. Your mouth feels so good on my dick.” His hand is twisted in my hair, and he is holding me to him, my nose pressed against his pelvic bone with his entire length in my mouth. His cock is pressed against the back of my throat. That’s when he starts to thrust his entire length in and out of my mouth, while still holding my head. He is fucking my mouth, taking his pleasure while I look up at him, begging with my eyes. Please, sir. I need you.
My pussy is throbbing. I spread my fingers wide on the tops of my thighs and dig them into my skin. I need to feel Finn’s hands on me. I need my release. I squirm, trying to shift any way I can to feel something. My pussy is slick, throbbing, and the crotch of my boy shorts is wet.
“Are you going to think twice about mouthing off to me again?” I try to nod my assent to him, but he is holding my head still and fucking my mouth hard and fast. I can feel him growing harder and throbbing against my tongue. That’s when I realize he will come, and I will not. He is punishing me this way, teaching me that my body is his and he will do what he wants with it.
“That’s right, lass. You figured it out, didn’t you?” Rage is written all over my face, and I shoot daggers at him with my eyes. “I told you that you didn't want to push me. Don’t worry, I won't forget about you. But right now, we will punish this sassy mouth of yours. Maybe then you’ll learn your lesson and think twice before you speak that way again. Maybe you’ll even learn not to roll your gorgeous green eyes at me in the future.” He tightens his hands in my hair, and the tips of his fingers bite into my scalp.
I squirm again, and he smiles. “I know how wet you are. I can smell you. I can smell it every time you're wet and ready for me. Like a bitch in heat begging to be fucked. You’re going to swallow every drop I give you.” He steps back, still holding my head but freeing my mouth and grabs ahold of the base of his cock, squeezing. “Tongue out, don’t you dare waste it.” Once, then twice, he runs his fist the length of himself.
I watch as hot, white cum shoots from the end of him onto my tongue, I lap it up and wrap my lips around the head of his dick. I suck hard, Finn moans. He looks down and meets my eyes. His are the deep amber color that I’m growing to love. But I see a darkness in them I hadn’t noticed before. I flinch back away from him as he drops his hand from my hair.
Finn rebuttons and zips his pants. “Don’t move,” he says, watching me looking up at him. “Fuck!” he says, turning around and slamming his hands down on the kitchen counter. The dishes in the cabinets shake. I can see the muscles in his back tense, and he is shaking. He is barely holding on to his control, and I wonder for a moment if he shifts in the kitchen, will he be able to keep himself from tearing me and the house to shreds.
Silently, making tiny movements, I get to my feet and step towards him. I reach my hand out to place it on Finn’s shoulder.
“Don’t,” he hisses, still keeping his back to me. “Melody,” he warns again when I don’t stop moving. I ignore him and rest my hands on his shoulders, then I slide them both around him and press my face to the center of his back between his shoulder blades and hug him tightly.
“Breathe,” I say, “you’re not going to hurt me. You’re in control.” I feel him shaking his head, and his body is vibrating under my cheek. “Breathe, Finn. You’re in control.”
Then I feel his hands on my wrists, and he loosens my grip on his waist and turns to face me, his back against the kitchen counter. “Are you daft, woman?” His eyes are back to their usual brown, and I know he won the battle this time. I collapse into him, and he wraps his arms around me.
“We can do this.” I hug him as tightly as I can.
“Come here,” Finn lifts me up, places me on the counter next to the sink, and kisses me, “do you have any idea how dangerous it is to play with wild animals, love?” he teases. I breathe a sigh of relief to see he is back to himself.
“Oh, for sure.” I wink. “But I think I know a thing or two about this one,” I say, pointing to his chest. “You can fight it. I know you aren’t going to hurt me. Even if we can’t be together in a D/s relationship right now, we can still be together. We will figure the rest out later.” I pull him to me and kiss him then. “Deal?” I ask, keeping my arms around his neck.
“Deal,” he says, resting his forehead on mine. “Just us, no Alpha wolf stepping in. I can do that.” He nods and smiles a huge smile at me.
I sigh. “I was jealous,” I confess. Finn kisses me on the forehead then.
“I could tell, lass. But there is no reason to be. You could have asked. But instead, you got angry and went looking for a fight.” I nod. Relaxing my shoulders. How can this man know me so well already? “Look at me, Mel.” He waits for me to look at him. Giving me time to blink back tears that were fighting to slip down my cheeks. I look him in the face and blink. One slips out and slowly falls down my right cheek. “Oh, lass, don’t. I can’t handle your tears.”
“I’m sorry!” I cover my face with both of my hands and sniff. “I can’t lose you. I don’t want to lose you, Finn.” He has me by the wrists and is pulling my hands away from my face.
“Look at me, Melody. I’m right here, and I’m not going anywhere. Rachel is a friend. I have known her for nearly ten years, there is nothing between us. Trust me. She has known about you for months. Every day I left The Sub Shoppe without asking you out, I caught shit for it. Now that I have you, it’s not the time that she is going to decide to try to steal me away.”
“I know. I’m sorry, sir. It’s not just that.” I sniff again as tears start to fall down my face in earnest now. “It’s the dreams. I’m scared, Finn. I don’t know what they mean. I don’t know who they are. But they want to hurt you.”
“Hey, hey, hey. Lady, look at me. I am not going anywhere. No one is going to hurt me. No one is going to take me from you.” He hugs me tight again and rubs my back gently. “What are we going to do with you, lass?” He kisses me then, a gentle kiss. “Do you want to talk about last night? About your dream?”
After I woke up screaming, Finn got me to calm down. But I wasn’t willing to discuss the dream with him then. I was exhausted and scared. He held me as I fell back to sleep. Then this morning, I avoided the topic like the plague.
“Yeah, can we sit down?” He picks up two coffee mugs and starts to fill them.
“Meet me in the living room, I’ll bring these in, and we can sit down, warm up and talk.” I follow his instructions and head to the couch. I sit down and curl my feet under me, picking up a throw pillow. I put it in my lap and pick at the seams.
“Here. Take this,” I look up, and Finn is standing next to the couch holding out one of the coffee mugs to me, “tell me what happened last night, love. Was it the same dream?”
I nod. Then tell Finn how it was the same dream, but this time it was different. I tell him about the sounds of the ocean and the strange trees. The wolves and how the one attacked him. That the reason I was there was as bait for him. When I’m finished, he looks at me, deep in thought. We both sit quietly for a few more minutes. I feel better now that I’ve told him my theory about the dream and what it means. I take another sip of my coffee and patiently wait for him to speak.
“I think you’re in Ireland. In your dream. I don’t think you’re crazy, but I can’t understand why you’re having these dreams or who would be out to get me. I’m not even the one in line to become Alpha. Colin is. But I promised you we will get to the bottom of it, and we will. It’s just that none of it makes any sense.”
I lean forward, put my coffee cup on the table, and then lean back and put my head on Finn’s shoulder. I wrap my hand in his and nuzzle him. “Can we just stay inside all day? Declare it a snow day and curl up here on the couch? Start a fire and watch bad TV? Please?”
I feel him relax, and he smiles down at me. “Of course. That sounds perfect.” He reaches into a small black box of remotes. Pulls one out and pushes a few buttons. The fireplace roars to life, and he grabs another remote to turn on the TV.
“Hey,” I say and wait for him to turn and look at me, “We can do this.” I smile at him. “You’re not going to hurt me, Finn. You didn’t this morning, and I trust you not to.”
“About that...” He shakes his head and continues, “I may not have shifted, but I wasn’t the one in control. I wasn’t the one who needed to put you in your place, and you can’t keep pushing me like that, Mel. I’m afraid of what is going to happen.” My smile fades as he talks, and I nod. I could tell he had lost control the moment he told me to get on my knees. He was different. Not the fun, playful Finn anymore. He was the Alpha who needed to be in charge.
“Finn,” I say his name softly, “maybe you need to stop trying to control it and give in to your instincts.” He looks at me and nods once.
“Maybe, lass. Maybe, you’re right.”
