Chapter 42 Now a princess
After that, I followed Mom to her suite.
Not without her assuring me nothing would make her choose Kael over me again. She said this time, she'd let Kael be. If he doesn't choose her, fine. So long as it's going to be fine.
She took me to her chamber, then to the chamber the alpha had made them prepare for me.
The chamber was massive. The decoration was fire. I couldn't believe I was going to live in that type of chamber, and it was all thanks to Elias. It's happening because he stood up for me and chose to believe me when no one else did. It was a dream come true for me.
Back then, when Seraphina arrived, she'd usually call me dirty and have me take off my footwear before I could set foot in her chamber. I was pained and pissed at the same time. I've always thought I'd never have the opportunity to have such a magnificent chamber. Now it's happening. I have a room and even two maids of my own. A lot happened in a short period of time, and it still felt like a dream.
When the alpha sent the edict, I was surprised. Mom and I were still standing outside when the guard came. The pack bell was ringing, and people gathered.
Then I kneeled to take the edict. I didn't know what it was, but I was positive; somehow, I wasn't scared like I used to be; I knew something good was coming.
The guard read out the edict, that the alpha had granted me the position of a princess, that his Luna would take me in as her own daughter, and no one should dare bully me or they'll be banished from the pack. Then he turned to two maids. The same two who somehow managed to make life hard for me; he made them my maids.
They were mad and nearly went gaga, but didn't dare say no to the alpha. I think it's my turn to shine.
The guard also announced that Seraphina has been restricted from entering the castle for six months. In other words, he chased the devil away. I wished he could also find a way to cast Lord Kael out. I know I was being selfish, but at this point, I don't care.
Mom then had the maid help me take a bath; for the first time, I felt like a princess. Wait, I’m one now. Even Seraphina isn't a princess; she's just someone whom they chose for Kael since he couldn't find his mate.
When he was 18, he was supposed to get his mate, but somehow, because I didn’t have a wolf, he didn't. So the alpha got worried and picked Seraphina because it wouldn't be possible to tag him as the alpha-to-be when he didn't have a mate.
He didn't choose Seraphina because she was important or something; it was because there was a time he was riding his horse and ended up getting shot with an arrow by someone who wanted him dead. It was said that Seraphina rescued him, and he felt indebted to her and decided to take her as his Luna-to-be. I once rescued a masked hunter but couldn't unmask him because I didn’t think it was necessary. I treated his wound, then left him where I made sure no one would see him. Before I returned, he was nowhere to be found. I kept going back there for weeks, hoping I'd see him and he'd thank me, but he didn't come back. I gave up. I hope he'll remember my favor one day and come back for me. Maybe I can be fortunate like Seraphina, too.
Later in the day, I saw Seraphina's carriage leaving the castle. I hope they completed the punishment before taking her home. The alpha ordered them to take her back to her parents; he even asked the guard who took her back to tell her parents what she did.
Kael, on the other hand, was brought in after some time. Two guards were holding him; his back was stained with blood, and I felt bad seeing him that way.
He stopped when he got to where I stood with Mom, then told me to watch my back. I was supposed to be scared hearing him say that, but I didn't even budge. He should go ahead and do his worst. I wasn't going to be scared anymore, not when the alpha had ordered him not to lay a finger on me ever again. I'm prepared for whatever shit he has to do. Gone are the days when he bullied and toyed with my feelings like I meant nothing.
After that, the guards led him in. It was then I noticed his room was opposite mine. This is going to be a bit tough.
