Chapter 30 Lock her up!

Chapter 30 Lock her up!
Lyra's POV.

I was glad Seraphina didn't restrain me when I carried her on my back and tried to get her to the estate's physician.

I took her to the physician who was seated outside, picking herbs.

“Please take a look at her. She collapsed after a beating” I said my voice was a little bit shaky.

The man took her from my back and laid her on one wooden table outside. He checked her pulse and went back to picking his herbs without telling me anything.

I moved to him, wanting to hear if she was fine. What sort of physician checks a patient and doesn't give a report.

I wanted to ask the question when his voice rose. “Get her inside the clinic, she just needs a quiet place to rest”

I did as he said and was surprised that he didn't try to help me when I was struggling to carry her inside.

I've been here a few times when I'd feel sick or when I had injuries but I had never met the same physician every time I came.

There were a lot of pack doctors here and there are special ones for the alpha and his family.

I walked back out after placing Enna on one of the beds in the clinic. The physician was still picking herbs.

“Was it Lady Seraphina?” He asked.

“How did you know that?” I asked him

“It's obvious. She's the only one who gets to act petty like this in the whole of the estate” he said.

“I can't imagine what she will do to all of you when she finally becomes the Luna of the pack,” he continued. “You Omegas are cooked”

I didn't say a word and only stared at his back. He was right, we are cooked.

He dipped his hand into his pocket and brought an ointment out.

“Here, take this and rub it on her legs” he handed it to me while I bowed slightly as I took it from him.

“Have her keep using it everyday so her legs heal fast,” he added.

“Thank you” I said.

Enna was asleep for hours and I was starting to question the physician about when she'd wake up.

“She'll wake up when she finds the energy to. For now, she's drained from all the beatings” he said.

Seraphina didn't send anyone to fetch me and I was glad that she wasn't looking for me.

I expected the alpha to send someone to tell me he was going for a walk like he has said earlier. But no one came.

I decided to check up on him so I don't get blamed for being the one who didn't come for him.

His closest escort was the one who attended to me. He said, “The Alpha is not in at the moment”

“He went out to settle pack matters outside the pack with lord Kael and lord Elias. I don't know when they will be back” he said.

I was glad that the walk was cancelled. I returned to Enna and when I got there, she was already awake.

“Hey!” I called with a glare.

She laughed. “I actually thought I was dead!”

I shook my head at her. She joked with everything and was still joking with this situation.

I dragged in a deep breath and sat beside her on the bed.

“I’m sorry” I apologized. “You went through that because you helped me”

“I think it's better to stop hanging out with me so much. I don't want to keep getting you into trouble” I told her.

She snorted out a laugh. “Wait! Are you trying to sound like a hero now?”

Why on earth does she laugh so much? Her smile was contagious and that made me laugh too.

“I'm really serious about this!” I said while laughing again.

Her face turned serious before mine could. “Listen, Lyra.”

“I won't stay away from you even if you get into trouble everyday” she paused. “It's either we stay out of trouble together or we get punished for getting into trouble together” she said.

A smile crept up my lips and tears sting my eyes. I've never had a friend, never being so close to anyone like her except my grandmother before she died.

“Hey, you there!” The physician's voice came, rising like a command and we both turned to look at him.

He was standing at the entrance of the clinic, one of his hands resting on the wall and the other getting pointed at us.

“It's time to leave!” He snapped. “I don't want to get into trouble for keeping you guys here for long”

I smiled. “Yes, sir. We'll leave now. Thanks for the ointment”

I stood up and helped Enna off the bed. She was able to walk but she still limped so hard.

We left the clinic and I helped her to her room in the quarters.

“I'll tend to everything you need until your legs heal” I said and that made her laugh.

“Everything?” She laughed. “You'll do the jobs assigned to me too?”

“Yes” I whispered even though there was no one around to hear. “And we will get punished together”

We both laughed.

For two days, Enna didn't work because of the beating she got and I was glad Seraphina didn't have a problem with it and Gina was also understanding.

For those two days, lord Kael and lord Elias didn't return to the palace and also the Alpha. I didn't see them around and I knew they were still sorting out pack matters outside the pack.

I went around with Seraphina and she was so damn nice and caring. She even let me try her jewelry in front of the maids.

I didn't know what to believe about her but on the third day, I was still sleeping, resting from the previous day's work when I heard footsteps thumping everywhere.

Doors opened and I knew maids were already pooling out of their rooms.

I also walked out and was surprised to see uniformed securities standing with their swords in place.

What was wrong? Who were they here for?

Seraphina walked to the front and pointed at me. “Take her! She stole all of my jewelry!”

My eyes widened. What was she saying?

“Wait, what?” I blinked.

I had barely finished speaking when the Alpha also arrived, his darkened gaze on me.

“Search the room! If you find the jewelry! Arrest her! I don't condone thefts!”

My room was searched because I let them. Because I was sure I didn't steal anything from Seraphina.

But my whole body shook with shock when they brought dozens of jewelries belonging to Seraphina from my room.

“No! I didn't do it!” I quickly said. “no”

Someone was framing me for theft and that made panic rise in my chest.

“Take her! Lock her up” the alpha ordered.
