Chapter Nineteen

Chapter 19

The door opened, revealing a middle aged man,

"You may come in ma'am."

He replied, and at his words, she bowed down, following him inside the mansion, she gasped at the sight of what she saw, the hall was quite large, and she could see twelve huge chairs which surrounds a huge wooden table, she gasped at the huge candles, which covered almost all the edge of the hall, the designs were so rich, she could not remember when last she saw a rich designs as these, that was when she heard the door opened, and when she looked up, she saw the Butler, staring down at her.

"I do think is advisable you go to bed quick, as instructed by the Beta."

The middle aged man said, and at his words, Envaline blushed, looking around everywhere, but not where the middle aged man was standing, she wondered what was his name, so she decided to ask, considering his age, he won't harm her If she ask,

"What can I call you sir?"

She replied, looking at him lowly, she was afraid to stare into his eyes.

"I am the butler of this mansion, I take care of the mansion and the people leaving in it, but you can call me Cadmus."

The Butler replied, bowing down to her, as he opened the door, which led to a stair way, Envaline followed behind, the doors she saw at every corners of the stair way made her wondered how many rooms where in the house.

As she followed the Butler climbed a stairs, they passed through another doors, and they walked continually till they reached the fourth stairs, she was already worn out, but the Butler remained unshaken, at the amount of stairs he climbed, although he was old, but he still looked quite energetic, and she wondered, if these creatures, called the werewolves were quite strong, she thought, they would be, considering how Sir Philip saved her, from the arrows which was meant for her.

"Why do we stand here, Sir Cadmus?"

Envaline asked, watching as the man, stood at the front of a large door, trembling, as if something dark lurks inside the other side of the door.

Cadmus stared at the lady who was standing in front of him.

He was informed that she was the beta's woman but she never behaved rude nor arrogant, he could vividly recall all the women which the beta had dated previously, they were rude and pompous.

"You will have to enter here alone, because this is the master's chamber, everything you need is in there."

The Butler said, he was scared how the Lady would be in the next five minutes, she would be torn within the twinkle of a eye, he wondered why the beta wants a woman he just brought to the mansion dead, did she betrayed the beta in any form.

"OK, thanks for showing me the way."

Envaline said, bowing down once more, as she was about to open the door, she heard the Butler say.

"Please my lady, be careful."

The Butler said, before turning his back and exiting from the hall, Envaline watched his back, wondering what he meant by being careful, does this involve the pet of the beta, she decided to sleep in the hall way, but it looked quite cold in here, she will catch a cold if she stays here much longer.

Using all the courage in her, she reluctantly opened the door, the first thing she saw was lamps which filled the whole room and these lamps created a mass of lights in the room, she entered the passage, and that was when she sighted another door, but this time, the door was not as big as the previous door, she looked around, she could not find any pet or strange thing lurking around the chambers, she walked, No!! She ran towards the door, her heart could not stop beating, she couldn't stop the feeling that stirs within her, that something dangerous, was watching her, just as she reached the door, she touched the bolt which was fixed to used to unlock the door, as she was about to open the door.

She heard a growl, an animalistic growl, which sounded so terrible and deadly, more than the ones she had heard from the werewolves, she turned quickly, gazing at where the sound came from, as she stared ahead, trying to figure out what was that, but she could not place her fingers on what had been growling at her, because that part of the hall seemed to be free from light, it was dark, and again the sound boozed through out the hall again, the sound more louder than the previous one.

That was when she saw a figure, stepping out from the darkness and emerging to where the lamps were, the lights of the lamps shone through its body and a terrible gasp left Envaline's mouth, she shook with might, her legs buckling at what stood in front of her, she tried rushing tto open the door, but it seemed fatal, because her hands were not been steady on the bolt of the door, she turned, hoping it was a dream, but no, it was a reality, what stood in front of her, was a Lion.

"A Lion, Oh goddess from the four realms of the earth, protect me."

She whispered silently, but the lion, seemed not too bothered, if she was shaken by his sight. Envaline stared at the lion, she wondered if this was the reason the butler, Sir Cadmus and Sir Philip were bothered, because of a lion, why didn't any tell her that the man, who showed her affection and protected her, have a Lion as a pet, if only she knew the man whom she had come to know as Sir Alexander wanted her dead, maybe she would have escaped, perhaps joined forces with her best friend Sharriah and run away from their masters just as they had planned but instead sge had grown so selfish within a matter of time, she hoped her best friend forgives her when she must have been eaten by this gruesome animal.

The Lion came towards her, this time, not slowly but quickly, that was when she saw how big the Lion was, the lion was more like light brown in colour, the lion stopped three steps away from her, she closed her eyes immediately, she did not have the heart, or courage to look once more at the Lion, she knew this was her end, she trusted her master once and he set a trap for her, without giving her a chance to prove her loyalty.

In the next life, she won't have to trust anyone, she thought.

As she closed her eyes, waiting for her time of death, but, No!! She never felt anything, was she dreaming or was she dead already, without feeling any pain. Quietly, she opened her eyes slowly, one eye at first, then the second eye, as she stared at the lion, which stood in front of her, immediately she opened her eyes, he made a thunderous growl, which caused her hair to rise on the air, due to the impact of the growl, she fell on the floor, the impact of the growl, caused her to loose her standing, as she shook in fear, she had never felt such fear before, even after staying at a slave establishment, yet, she had never recieved such torture, nothing as near as what she was experiencing, closing her eyes immediately, as she folded her legs together and almost trying to mould her body into the chambers door, she closed her eyes again, awaiting to be devoured, by the great beast, but what she felt was something different, which felt so unreal at first, she felt something warm on her body, she opened her eyes slowly, she saw the Lion, cradling unto her arms and he felt quite warm, making the cold in her, the fear in her, turning into warmness, all he fears had vanished into air at his warmness. She was shocked, shocked was an understatement to describe how she felt, the Lion seemed to notice her confusion, as the Lion looked up at her face, the lion licked her face with his large tongue, she almost shouted with fear, she did not know what to feel at that moment, she had never seen a lion came close to her before, as she stared at the eyes of the Lion, she saw it had a grey silver eyes, almost the same as Sir Alexander, her Master, the Lion went back to her arms, cuddling her, as if she was his master, her pet.

She yawned, now knowing the Lion won't hurt her, she slept off, holding the Lion, a smile tugging at her lips, but yet, she wondered why the Lion accepted her, so easily, without breaking her bones to pieces.

Alexander ran through the forest, tearing through the forest with his fur thudding through the forest, scrunching every leaves on which he made contact with, a lot of troubles filled his mind, first his King, then his slave, he still could not believe he had found his mate, as he ran through the hills of the Dark Moon Pack, he could view the castle from the hills, the castle was built not quite far from the hills. Just then, he mind linked his butler.

(Is the lady OK, is she still alive.)

He asked, as he ran, the other men, running after him, they defeated the vampires, all thanks to the spy who informed them of the ambush set by the vampires.

(I could not hear her voice, but all I can hear is the growls of your pet, Rodrigo.)

Cadmus replied, he never left the front hall when the girl entered the beta's chamber, he could not bear hearing the screams of the Lady that will make him have torturous sleep, full of night mare.

(I think she do be dead Master Alexander.)

Cadmus replied, and at his words, he heard the growl of the beta from their mind link, the beta ran to a corner to fully digest his information.

As the old man held his head in fear, Cadmus shook in fear, the growls looked more worse, than the Beta's pet, whom he always heard his growls within the walls of the beta personal hall, A pet which he had never seen in fifty decades.
