She Is Ours

She Is Ours

In Midnight Moon
“Alpha!”
The packhouse trembles on its foundation from the deep anger in the voice. “You won't believe this! We're invading Silver Moon NOW! We kill them all. I'm so ready, just give the sign, man!"
Gamma Kenry’s ferocity is untamable. He bursts into his Alpha's office, this one is just having a meeting with the Beta.
Alpha Zane looks up from the paperwork on his desk. His Gamma outbursts are more the rule than the exception, everyone knows he is on edge all the time. All Kenry thinks about is getting a war with Silver Moon and getting Mercedes out of there. He has already worked out various scenarios with the pack warriors. Not even a chicken in Silver Moon should survive, he hates them all there. Everyone suspects Clarita has something to do with his furious mood too.
“Kenry, sit down and tell us what's on your mind”, Zane sighs, his attention now entirely on his Gamma. But when he hears the following words of the man, he slowly gets up, his wolf partially takes over. His sharp fangs elongate, Jax's eyes bulge as his claws come out. “Tomorrow evening, the Luna ceremony of Mercedes will be held in Silver Moon. Before she turns eighteen, she and Glary will exchange vows in the presence of the pack,” Kenry exclaims. “Alphas from all packs are invited except us.”
Beta Jace immediately shifts into his wolf and lets out a heavy growl. With this shock from the Beta, the Gamma also shifts and he too, lets out a menacing growl. “I warned you beforehand, Zane. You bear all the responsibility for this,” the wolves in the study accuse their Alpha. “We have no intention of losing our Luna to that worthless Alpha son. Give the signal NOW!”
Outside the packhouse, the members of Midnight Moon begin to gather. The heavy roar and slight tremor in the pack are an indication that something serious is going on. Many already assume that it has something to do with the mate of their Alpha. The warriors gather in battle gear, ready for the long-awaited attack on Silver Moon. In the pack link, Alpha Zane is bombarded with questions from different sides. Many swear their support to get their Luna in Silver Moon.
Zane vigorously suppresses his wolf. As much as he wants to save his mate from the clutches of the Alpha family, he knows only common sense can turn this situation to his advantage. A frivolous war can result in his disadvantage, while Mercedes is not yet of age to choose her mate. As long as she's still a minor, his chances of keeping her are slim. He risks a conviction from the Council of Werewolves and then the packs will send a united army to Midnight Moon if Mercedes does not return to Silver Moon.
In this situation, a smart strategy is more effective than taking on this challenge recklessly. Zane beckons his staff and after they shift back, the three walk to the porch of the packhouse. Hundreds are already waiting there, as Zane didn't explain in the pack link.
The Alpha swallows several times to suppress his emotions. “My pack, let me preface: Mercedes Versailles is our Luna, the Luna of Midnight Moon. Period!”. He pauses to allow everyone to sink in words. “Trust in Mercedes, please. She's strong, we made her strong, so we know what she's capable of. We're not going to get into this provocative, I'm sure they're waiting for us at the border. We are not waging an emotional war. When we strike, it will be accurate and final.”
There is a murmur from the crowd, not everyone agrees with him.
“I will develop a strategy with the Beta and Gamma here. Our best time to be successful is when Mercedes makes her first shift. Then our war will be justified and Mercedes will benefit from our offensive.” Many now agree with him, kidnapping a minor from a pack is very risky. “No one can mark her as long as she is still a minor. And I have a long-standing claim on her that is also known to the Council,” Zane tells his audience. “Let me coordinate with alliances that will be present at this fake Luna ceremony on how to handle this best. And I will also notify the Council of this wrongful act.”
All pack members nod.
They know that what their Alpha is telling them is the facts. Their best bet is when Mercedes is shifted, then Silver Moon has no choice but to let her go. There are still five days until that moment, in the meantime, they can work on their strategy. Slowly the group disperses, pleased with their Alpha's statement.
Deeply disappointed, Gamma Kenry walks into the packhouse behind his Alpha, back to the office. When they get there, he throws himself on the sofa. “This is not the right approach, Zane. I’m telling you, man! Who will charge us at the Council if we wipe the pack? When these turtles finally show up, Mercedes will be eighteen and you have already marked each other," he says. “All they can do is impose a penalty on us. And believe me, we're happy to pay them all of it immediately plus a bonus on top of it," he ends emotionally.
“Kenry, you seriously forget one thing. They're expecting us. Their intelligence is keeping a close eye on us. Keep it calm, now that they are going on this tour, a war is almost inevitable”, Alpha Zane explains to him. ‘There's a good chance you'll get your way soon." Beta Jace's phone rings, when he looks at the caller ID he sees that his mate is calling. Although they have frequent calls, he hasn't seen her for several weeks. As a real Beta female, Saphira wants to stay near her Luna.
“Jace, tell Zane that the Alpha family has checkmated Mercedes. She had to choose between mating with Glary or her father being convicted of fraud and treason against the pack,” she explains quickly. “When our pack strikes down, don't forget to save her parents too. It's clearly a setup."...
