Five years later in Midnight Moon

Alpha Zane and Luna Mercedes comfortably sit on a bench in their private garden, watching their children. After Zane built a private villa, a stone's throw from the packhouse, he moved with his family to have more privacy.

Four kids in total.
The girls are the perfect image of their mother. Their long black hair, gray-blue eyes, tanned skin and confident behavior leave little room to guess who their parents are. Their infectious laugh and smooth babble surprise many in the pack, it's not much different from the ten-year-old Mercedes that Zane had brought to the pack years ago.
And there are the two blonde guys remotely controlling their drone at a short distance but still keeping an eye on their sisters. Their father taught them very early that they are the protectors of their sisters until their mate shows up and takes that responsibility from them. And they take their job very seriously, making sure nothing happens to them. They treat their sisters as if they were the most precious diamonds, they should not lack anything, they should also know no sorrow.
“Hey Zane, let's go and take a look at auntie Elise. James must be back from training by now”, Marc suggests to his older brother. But Zane shakes his head. "No, I do not think so. Rainer and James are staying with him. If he was back from training, you'd see them already poking around here. I don't know why those two are always hanging around our sisters like flies around a syrup pot”, the eldest son of the Alpha and Luna states, annoyed.
Rainer and James are the twin sons of Alpha Rainer and his Luna Jasmina. These two are frequent visitors of Midnight Moon, they are good friends with Cleo Jr., the son of the Alpha sister Elise and her mate Cleo, the Head Warrior. But little Zane doesn't trust Rainer and James, they are near his sisters too often for his taste. Rainer, in particular, seems obsessed with Mary, the eldest sister. And he must not have any of that.
Zane Jr. rather sees Alpha Jace and Luna Saphira's twins visiting them. According to him, they are better mannered, treat their sisters like queens. Not that rough material that Rainer and James are cut from. The twins from Silver Moon are timid and personable, totally the opposite of the Shadow Moon boys. In addition, they are more sporty, love outdoor activities in the woods. But the Shadow Moon boys can laze around in the yard or at the pool all day long.
That's why Zane prefers to have his friends from Silver Moon instead.
The Alpha couple listens to their sons' conversation and frowns. They were unaware that the children were having issues with each other, although they had noticed that Rainer and James were visiting less often. Little did they know that their son scared the two boys off.
“This seems more like a rivalry issue to me,” Alpha Zane whispers to his mate. "I hope they don't have to deal with mates as young as we did." Luna Mercedes smiles as she watches her sons. Zane Jr. is the most protective, Marc is the down-to-earth type. “They are only five years old, too young for this kind of problem,” she agrees.
And then, a dark-tinted SUV pulls up in their parking lot.
The door is pushed open and the Silver Moon twins jump out with their luggage. Mary runs to them and wraps her arms around Jace, the eldest son. This one also seems happy to see her and holds her tight. “Will you be staying with us for the whole holiday, Jace?” she asks him, clearly delighted at the prospect. “Ehuhh,” he confirms. He lets go of her and walks to the brothers who are still concentrated on the drone. When they notice him, they grin happily.
After a short bro-hug, all three are now focused on the drone in the air. Disappointed, Mary stares at them. Her sister Selin comes to meet her. “Don't be sad, soon we'll all be sitting at the table and then you can talk to him as much as you want”, she coaxes Mary. He nods and resigns himself to Jace's position.
Silver Moon's other son walks up to the Alpha and Luna. “Alpha, Luna. My parents said we spend the school holidays here. They are on their own things,” he says politely. Mercedes grabs him by the arm and pulls him towards him. This son of Saphira is her favorite, his politeness at this age, makes everyone look up to him.
“You know you're always welcome, Sam. Mary and Selin always look forward to your visit. You taught Selin to swim last holiday and she is very much looking forward to the sequel”, she assures the youngster. He grins happily and bends his head shyly to look at his shoes.
And then Cleo Jr, Rainer and James storm in. The group is complete. Mercedes doesn't miss Cleo's grin disappearing and stares reservedly at the Shadow Moon twins. And as James walks up to Selin, he clenches his fists at his side.
Luna Mercedes turns to her mate with raised eyebrows. She notices that the change in the boy has not escaped his notice. And when they look at Mary, well, she's now got everyone to sit on the floor in front of her.
“Interesting”, the Luna whispers as she looks back at her mate with a smile.
Alpha Zane understands her without too many words. Concerned, he follows his two daughters who know everything through him. He is their hero and does his utmost to grow them into confident and successful women. He remembers his Luna, when she was just ten and he had to do the same. Perhaps that is the calling the Moon Goddess has pronounced upon him. But be that as it may, he is the example for them of how a mate should be, how they deserve to be treated. The same treatment he gave his own Little Luna years ago....
