Chapter 82

Chapter 82
Jack’s POV

It’s been a few days since Scarlett left the pack house and things have not been the same. Not only did she leave the pack house, she’s left the pack, she’s furious, I know. I’ve linked her multiple times but there’s still nothing.

She’s the reason Becky has not been buried yet, I know she would want to say her last goodbye to her best friend but she won’t respond to my calls and even when I link her I get no response.

I went to Warren’s room to have a discussion with him,

He was slumped in his bed staring into nothingness. I felt guilty and miserable seeing him in that state. I made sure the door was closed before I went on my knees. That jerked him back to reality, he was shocked and got up,

“Alpha! Why are you kneeling…”

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for bringing Marie here. I’m so sorry for going against you, I don’t know how to make it up to you and Scarlett. If you also abandon me I will understand.”

He must not have been used to seeing an Alpha lowering himself to him,
“Come on, please get up.” He replied. “Your stubbornness may have cost Becky her life but it doesn’t mean we have to sit here and let her efforts go to waste.”

I nodded and got up, still feeling extremely guilty for all I had put them through.

“I’m trying to find the map that leads to the dragon kingdom but so far, I’ve been told that all of them are fake.”
“Why do you want to go there?” He curiously asked me.

I was surprised that they didn’t want to take revenge after all those people have done to them.

“Don’t you want to wage war on them just like they did to us?” I asked but to my surprise he shook his head.
“I just want Marie gone forever, the same way she took Becky out, I want her also taken out. But not without a confession on how she killed my brother.”

“She killed your brother too?” I asked, this rather left me astonished. How many people did Marie kill? I would never have thought that she was that dangerous.

“We have to kill her now!” I said to Warren who still shakes his head.
“Let’s wait, after I have said goodbye to Becky, I will take care of her myself.”

“But what if she led some of her people here without us knowing? We can’t get rid of her without knowing who is still here with us.” I replied.

Warren and I went quiet at the same time, I'm sure we were both thinking of different things. Randomly, a great idea popped up in my head but I didn’t discuss it with Warren, we just went ahead and planned the funeral.

I knew he hated me, I was sure he was very mad at me. If only he knew how sorry I was.

A week later we stood in the backyard with the press and everyone to bid our farewells to the second lady. I thought Scarlett would show up because I gave her all the details yet she didn’t. I began to worry about her. Even if she’s mad at me, why would she miss her best friends funeral? That was unlike her. Was she safe? Where could she be?

I saw the reporters shove a mic in one minister’s face trying to get some information on the whereabouts of the queen. The minister stared at my face while I stared back. Nobody knew of her whereabouts not even me, so I was hoping he would lie.

“The queen is grieving her childhood best friend so hard she could barely stand on her feet and attend the funeral. Be rest assured that you’ll see the queen soon.” He went on to assure them but I have no idea if that is possible.

I don’t know if I will be able to right all my wrongs but I am hoping that I am able to do that. I don’t want to lose Scarlett. It's sad that I realized that right after losing her.

I sneaked into Marie’s cell, hoping to strike a deal with her, it was the plan I had hatched a week ago and hopefully it works so I can be the best Alpha this pack has ever had.

“What do you want here?” She screamed when she saw me. She looked wretched and haggard. I was afraid she would even break into two.

“I came here to strike a deal with you.”
She stopped going berserk and seemed interested in what I had to say.

“What deal?” She asked regaining her composure
“You will tell me the weakness of the dragons of the South, then I will personally take you back home.” I replied.

“Weakness?”
“Yes, you have to tell me what can kill the dragons in your home country. If you tell me, I will let you go.”

I assured her.

She paused and looked up at me, then burst into bouts of laughter.
“Why do you think that I will give you that information? So you can go and kill our dragons?” She yelled.

“No, I want to know so that when I let you go, I won’t be scared of getting attacked by you and your people and if I do, at least I know how to protect the pack. It’s a good idea if you ask me.”

She went into a pensive mode for a few seconds, then turned to me,
“You will also have to agree to my terms before we can strike this deal.”

I smirked, now we were on the same page,
“Let’s hear you.”

She pursed her lips and smirked, “you can’t tell anyone the weakness of the dragons except your beta.”
I thought about what she said and just then, I knew she was planning on getting rid of both I and Warren but I played along.

“Okay, I promise.” I simply replied.

She pursed her lips again and this time she smiled, “just like werewolves, dragons don’t like wolfsbane if you sprinkle the fragrance in the air, it can kill them instantly.”
I smirked again, how is she such a liar with a bold face? How did I miss this part of her? I feel so stupid.
