Chapter 124 Chapter 126
Chapter 124 Chapter 126
Arianna’s POV
"Group One..." she began, calling out names. Students scurried to gather in corners, buzzing with excitement.
I was very excited too, I’ve been waiting for this time of the academic year. At least, there would be no classes or worry about exams.
"Group Three: Aria, daven, kyle, jace, Mitchell and Mel"
I froze, glancing at Michaela, who blinked back at me with wide eyes. She let out an excited squeal. I’m sure that if she had the chance, she would be all over me, but she sat far from me.
I didn’t know why exactly she was excited. If she was excited, she was in the same group as me, or in the same group as the alpha successors or that we are both in the same group as the alpha successors.
Daven leaned lazily against his desk, as if none of this mattered, while Kyle cracked his knuckles with a grin. Jace gave a faint nod, his usual stoic self.
"We are in the same group, aren’t you excited?" Kyle whispered against my neck.
I felt a mix of excitement and worry. I worry that I might lose myself with them, but I’m excited that I know they will give the team their best; they are the Alpha successors, after all.
"Group four: Heather, Susan, Tessa, Steve, Victoria and...Sony." The room shifted. Whispers rose like a wave.
"Is Sony back?"
"I thought he wasn’t coming back to Ashwood since he joined his father’s business."
I turned toward the back, where a tall boy stood up slowly.
Broad-shouldered, with brown hair and striking amber eyes, he carried himself with the calm arrogance of someone born into power.
His aura hit me instantly, dominant, suffocating, undeniably Alpha, but negative.
"That’s Heather’s mate," Susan whispered under her breath.
"For some of you who don’t know him," Luna Lyra said, turning to look at me and then tiana.
"He is Sony, son of Alpha Harland of Westmoon Pack," Luna Lyra introduced formally. "He is Group four’s final member."
He stepped forward, his movements measured, his gaze sweeping over us, until his eyes landed on daven, kyle, and jace.
There was tension in his eyes; it was apparent that a cold rivalry existed between them.
Kyle smirked. "Oh, this should be fun." jace’s eyes narrowed, sharp and unreadable. daven’s eyes were tense, and his jaw tightened.
I felt the tension ripple through the room, a clash of dominance between the four of them.
"His father is known as the rogue of the west," Steve whispered, "He rebelled against daven’s father when he was under daven’s father’s unit, and he was cast away from the military."
Sony stopped in front of us, his lips curving in a faint, mocking smile as he directed his gaze at Susan. "Looks like I’ll be carrying the weight of the
group."
"Excuse me?" Susan retorted, nearly choking.
Michaela’s face was flushed as she muttered out loud. "What an arrogant fellow, I wonder who he thinks he is"
Sony didn’t spare her a glance. His eyes remained locked on daven. "And I’m sure my group will do just better than you three forces combined," he gestured casually at the Alpha successors.
The silence was deafening. What did I expect from a rogue prince, and to top it all, Heather’s mate?
Kyle leaned forward, grinning wolfishly. "Careful, Westmoon. You’re not the only Alpha blood in this room."
"Nor the strongest," Jace added quietly, his words like steel.
Daven finally spoke, his voice low but cutting. "Strength is proven, not declared. Moreover, don’t let me remind you who is boss, and the reason why you were out of the academy in the first place."
For a moment, the energy in the room was so tense that I felt like I was suffocating under their pressure.
The students whispered amongst themselves, but not loud enough for the Alphas to hear them.
Sony smirked at them and returned to his seat, his eyes still lingering on them. I caught Victoria, Tessa and Heather chuckling in the corner.
Foolish cowards!, rejoicing over banters and losing achievements.
Daven glared at Heather, causing her to shut up instantly. I could see the sudden fear in her eyes. Then he directed his glare to Sony.
"If you’re done flexing your egos, we’ve got sports to prepare for. Last I checked, no one wins trophies by glaring at each other." I said, staring the
Alpha successors in the eye and then signaling to Michaela.
Sony’s gaze flicked to me. His smile softened slightly, but it wasn’t kind; it was calculating. "And you must be the famous president."
"I am," I said evenly. But I couldn’t help wondering if Heather has been discussing me with her mate.
"Good," he murmured, tilting his head. "Then I’ll enjoy watching how you handle... all this." His hand gestured vaguely at the three successors behind me.
I held his gaze firmly, refusing to flinch. "You’ll be more useful if you play on your team instead of trying to pick a fight."
A few chuckles erupted in the room. Susan clapped slowly from her corner. "That’s my girl!"
Sony’s smile tightened, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he stepped back, sliding into place with his group.
Luna Lyra, who had been watching quietly, finally cleared her throat. "Good. Now that the groups are formed, you will all start training and preparations by tomorrow.
Get yourselves cheerleaders to represent each group. Remember it’s a game, not war," Luna Lyra said, and then exited the classroom. You are Dismissed."
The classroom buzzed instantly with chatter as students rushed to compare teams.
I exhaled slowly, the weight of what just happened pressing against my chest. Sony and his little rivalry are trying to turn an enjoyable activity into a power fight.
Susan ran up, grinning ear to ear. "Oh, this is going to be good. I can’t wait to see Kyle wipe that smug look off Sony’s face."
Michaela groaned. "Isn’t he your group member? Well, focus on your group and make sure he isn’t such a scumbag as his mate, Heather."
"I really don’t care if my group fails. I hate my group members, except for tiana and Steve. And if your group is the last standing opponent, of course, I’ll gladly contribute to their failure," Susan hissed.
"We didn’t ask for your help; we will actually defeat you all effortlessly. So you can even try your best," Michaela teased.
Susan glared playfully at her.
Daven walked past us, his expression unreadable, but I caught the faintest hint of a smirk tugging at his lips.
This might be exciting or dangerous for two weeks.
