Chapter 50 The Secret Weapon

Chapter 50 The Secret Weapon
Luna reached for her tea as the realization dawned on her.

“Your blood. Your power. You are the ingredient that makes the serum work.” Elder Morgana took a sip of her cup of tea. “And you are also the ingredient that can end it.”

Kane leaned forward. “What do you mean?”

“I’m saying the war is inevitable. It always was.” Elder Morgana sat down across from them. “You think Alexander wanted to merge territories? To share power with Kane through a marriage alliance?”

Luna’s hands tightened around her cup. “I don’t understand. But the agreement was for Kane to marry Victoria to prevent war.”

"Then why does Alexander continue creating Moon Fever? Why does he still threaten and scheme even though you've agreed to make Victoria your Luna? Why would he do all that if his goal was peace?”

The pieces clicked into place. Luna's eyes widened as understanding dawned. "Because he never wanted to merge the packs. He never did.”

“He wants to dominate,” Kane said, his voice hard. “He wants to be the greatest Alpha of all time. Seven territories was just the beginning. And marriage is just another move in his game. He'll take my pack through Victoria, then destroy us from within."

"Precisely." Elder Morgana nodded. "The war was always coming. The marriage just determines whether you fight from a position of strength or weakness."

They all went silent.

"But how can we fight him?" Luna asked desperately. "He has seven territories. Hundreds of warriors. Even if I don’t give him my blood he still has the numbers."

Elder Morgana's eyes twinkled. "The answer stands right in front of you, child."

Then Kane looked at Luna. Really looked at her. His eyes widened slightly.

“You,” he said.

“Me what?”

“You’re the secret weapon. You’re how we win this.”

Luna shook her head. “I don’t understand.”

“Alexander got seven territories through your blood. Blood he stole, diluted and corrupted." Kane said, speaking faster now.

“He created a weapon using your power. But you’re not just an ingredient. You’re a Moon Healer. You don’t just have the power to create illness. You have the power to cure it.” Kane’s voice was filled with hope, “You are the source. Pure, undiluted Moon Healer power."

Elder Morgana smiled. “Now you see it.”

“See what?” Luna asked. "I can heal, yes, but I can't fight armies."

Kane stood. “Alexander’s strength comes from fear. From the threat of moon fever. But what if we remove that threat? What if we show the other territories that moon fever can be cured? That they don’t need to fear him anymore?”

“They would rebel,” Luna breathed. “The territories he conquered. They’re only loyal because they’re afraid.”

“Take away the fear, and his empire crumbles,” Kane finished.

Luna’s mind spun. Could it work? Could she really heal enough wolves to start a rebellion against Alexander?

"The full moon is in six days," Elder Morgana said. "Your power will be at its peak. That's when Alexander will strike, with or without the wedding."

"Then we have six days to prepare," Kane stopped pacing. “We need to be ready. If we’re going to do this, we need a strategy. We need allies.”

“We need proof,” Luna added. “Proof that moon fever can be cured. Proof that Alexander created it.”

“The security footage,” Kane said. “From his building. If we can get back in…”

“Too risky,” Luna interrupted. “He’ll be watching for that now.”

“Then we find another way,” Kane said.

Luna stood, surprising herself with how steady her voice sounded. “We gather evidence. We build alliances. We show the world what Alexander really is.”

Kane met her eyes. Something passed between them. An understanding. A commitment.

“This will be dangerous,” he said.

“I know.”

“He’ll come for you. For the twins.”

“Let him try.”

The words came out stronger than Luna felt. But as she said them, something solidified inside her. A core of steel she hadn’t known she possessed.

She was done running. Done hiding. Done letting Alexander dictate her life and threaten her children.

If he wanted war, she would give him war.

Kane’s phone buzzed. He glanced at it, it was Marcus."Victoria's here.” He said, “She’s demanding to see you about wedding preparations."

"Send her away," Kane said.

Luna grabbed his hand. "No. Let her come. We need to know what Alexander's planning."

"Luna…"

"We have six days to prepare for war," Luna said, her voice steady now. "That means we need information. If you retaliate now, he would see we are up to something. Let Victoria think she's won. Let Alexander think we're beaten."

Elder Morgana smiled approvingly. "Now you're thinking like a true Moon Healer."

Kane told Marcus to let her in.

Luna felt something shift inside her. The fear was still there, but underneath it, something else grew. Determination. Power.

"Call your war council," she told Kane. "Quietly. We need allies Alexander doesn't know about."

Kane nodded, already scrolling through his phone.

"Elder Morgana, can you ward the twins' room? I want every protection spell you know around them."

As he sent the message, Luna looked down at her hands. These hands had healed hundreds of wolves.

Now these same hands would have to do something else.

They would have to fight.

The kettle whistled. Elder Morgana turned off the stove, and in the sudden quiet, Luna heard Leo and Lily stirring in the bedroom.

“I should check on them,” she said.

But before she could move, Kane caught her arm.

"You're different."

"I'm done running," She said simply. "Done hiding. Alexander wants the Moon Healer? Then he'll get her. Just not the way he expects."

“We’ll win this,” he said quietly. “Whatever it takes.”

Luna looked into his eyes and saw the same determination she felt burning in her chest.

“Whatever it takes,” she echoed.

Through the window, the sun began to rise over Seattle, painting the sky blood red.

Six days until the full moon.

Six days to learn to weaponize the very power Alexander had killed to possess.

War was coming.

And this time, Luna wouldn’t be a victim.

She would be the weapon.
