Chapter 74 - The Alpha’s Goddess
~CALLIE'S P.O.V~
Everyone stopped talking and looking around, still confused about what was going on.
"Today I was going to address one of my changes to the way we handle trials, which is what we will be doing from here on out. The trials will be a new form of discipline. We will all gather to address them together. The trials will be for any act of breaking the law that is outside of the law within each species. Meaning if anyone has a member of their pack, clan, coven, etcetera that has disobeyed or broken the law to an extreme with any major acts of crime, then we will hold a trial accordingly. We will gather, hear them out and decide as a group what their punishment will be. I was going to wait till the end to do this, but I guess we will address this issue first, then we will continue with the questions before I start to explain any of my other ideas for our future from here on out."
The members were looking around confused as to what these two had done that would hinder a trial as such, but I knew once I showed them the memories of these awful men, they would have no doubt in their minds that they were guilty of many horrendous acts.
"What is the meaning of this!" Jax screamed out as Derrek remained sitting there as if he was in a daze.
"Those are my special bonds that will not allow a shifter transformation, they will not allow any, and I mean any, magical being to poof them off your wrists, nor will it allow for the person they are on to be proofed away, meaning teleportation. They also will not allow any sort of attack that is made by a supernatural being, as they will make any species a mere human while in them. And the kicker, they won't come off without me, the goddess, releasing them." I said, smiling proudly. I worked hard on creating these in what little downtime I had. They were something I had the pleasure of creating, which made me very proud. They were created mostly for trials but could be used if needed under any circumstances.
"This is against my rights!" Jax roared again.
"This trial will determine what rights you hold for yourself. Right now, you will not be seen as a Beta, you are a prisoner who is held under the court of law by the supernatural leaders to determine if you and Derek are guilty of breaking the laws which were placed for the safety of yourself and others in the supernatural world. Do both of you understand what I am saying?"
"I am not stupid you dumb bitch!" Jax roared out.
"Woah bro chill." Dalton retorted.
"Don't you tell me what to do mutt!" Jax yelled out even louder this time. Dalton had a cheeky smile, not taking any offense to Jax and his insults, which surprised me. I then turned to the overly quiet Derek to address him.
"Derek, do you understand what is happening?" I asked, aware that something was off with him. He is an Alpha; this behavior was unlike him. He hadn't said a single word and was in a daze this entire time. When he didn't answer me, Jax laughed again.
"He won't answer you; he is no longer present. He got what he deserved. He is only here as a formality. I couldn't be here without him, so he is here. Don't waste your breath speaking to him, he is dead inside." Jax spoke up laughing some more.
More whispers erupted around the room as others began to question what was happening. The thing about the cuffs is, they can stop magic or supernatural occurrences from happening, but they can't, however, correct whatever damage has already been done. Whatever happened to Derek doesn't sit right in my gut, I am sure Jax had something to do with it.
"What did you do to him?" I asked aloud.
"That is none of your concern, nor is it what I am on what you call trial for, so obviously it doesn't matter."
"I feel like it very much matters as he is your Alpha, and you clearly know what happened to him. You may not have started out on trial for whatever happened to him, but that doesn't mean you cannot still be tried if it already occurred before your trial began, plus what you have done to be on trial, to begin with, has yet to be announced." Dalton spoke up next, making the room deadly silent. Jax turned his head to face Dalton with the evilest look in his eyes.
"I'd like to see any of you try to take me on. I'll end you before you can even lay a finger on me!" He roared. Dalton then let out a deep chuckle as if Jax's threat meant nothing but words.
"I'd like to see you try, boy," Dalton said back. He wasn't much older than either me or Jax. He is 23 years old, with some experience as an Alpha, and had been Alpha for a little over 5 years when he took over his pack at 18. Yet Jax was only 18 with limited experience from what he had learned growing up as the Beta's son, plus what he learned during his training with the Royals.
"Well, with those cuffs on, I don't see how you can do anything but run your mouth," Daxton spoke up next, putting all eyes now on him for the first time since the meeting had started.
Many of the Alpha wolves already had respect for Daxton as he was next in line to take the throne. However, the other species didn't care, nor did they have the same respect that the wolves hold due to them not having the same common laws as the werewolves. That was the difference between me and Daxton. We may have been twins, but we were different internally. We are non-identical twins, obviously, but he is still my blood. However, I have all the other species' bloodlines running through me whereas he does not. From my understanding, the other genes in everyone else in our bloodline were dormant and they will always remain dormant, whereas I am the only one with active genes, making me the Goddess of all species.
"I can break out of these," Jax said with a laugh.
"Do it, I'd love to see the durability of them." A man in the shadows then spoke out.
"Arthur, let the boy be." Another said next to him. Arthur is the King of Vampires. He was known by everyone as the deadliest man to ever walk the earth.
"No, let's see it. I'd like to see how effective they truly are."
"I could put you in some so you can test the durability yourself if you want?" I said, looking over at him, challenging him in a sense.
"Bold, I like that," Arthur said, rubbing his chin. "Let’s see what the boy can do."
"I agree with Gemma, let's see what the King of vampires can do against the quote-on-quote Goddess's little cute handcuffs," Jared said next, still undermining who I am to the audience.
"Okay, sure why not? We can use this as one way to prove that she is above all. Since Jared cannot wrap his tiny brain around the fact that a female is more powerful than he ever could be." Arthur said, looking back over at Jared as he growled at the insult. He then placed his hands in front of his body as if saying to chain him.
'You challenge an Alpha wolf with insults, then ask to be cuffed with the magical cuffs that won't allow you to escape nor use your abilities as a supernatural being. Not a very smart move, King Arthur.' I mind-linked to him. Being a goddess had points of advantage. I could get into someone's mind, no matter the species to have a private conversation. A smile formed across his face at the sudden intrusion.
"Very intriguing indeed." He said aloud, making a lot of the members confused. "Go on, let's test them out."
"Shouldn't we be addressing the issues at hand, not playing around?" The same voice from before, who was addressed as Gemma.
"Maybe, but those can and will be addressed to Gemma, but if she needs to prove herself to others, this is one of many ways she can do so," Arthur responded to Gemma, who was a high-ranking member of his clan he had brought along.
"It won't take long to prove this point," I said with a snap of my fingers, Arthur's wrists now encased in the cuffs.
"One point, she is a wolf who has powers. She has already shown us this ability, which is not common in wolves unless you are a hybrid of a witch. Now, we will test her creation as the most powerful being. If I can escape, then she isn't as powerful as she leads us to believe. If I cannot, well you know what that means." Arthur said.
I sat back watching as he tried his compulsions on another non-vampire. When he realized it was not working, he then tried to use his strength to break free. With not even a sliver of change aside from him being out of breath. "Shit, these are strong," Arthur said with a confused look on his face. "Someone hit me!" He yelled out, faces around the room contorted into confusion. "Come on, anyone got the balls to hit me?" He then asked sarcastically. The next thing I knew, Gemma punched Arthur so hard his face went sideways as he fell backward. Laughter filled the room.
"Holy fuck that actually hurts. I cannot remember the last time I felt pain from a simple punch. It reminds me of my human days." He said with disbelief.
"You have no idea how long I wanted to do that," Gemma said while laughing.
"How about let's put them on you?" Arthur said.
"No thank you, if it took away your abilities, I don't want them on me."
"I want to test them!" Another member yelled out. It was a warlock by the name of Devin. With Jakus gone, he was next in line for being the most powerful aside from Ashley herself. "I have powers, actual magical powers, let's put them to the test against my own."
I snapped my fingers, releasing Arthur and immediately cuffing Devin. We all watched as he tried pulling his magic forth with no luck. No matter how many incantations he said, nothing worked. "Well, my magic is nothing compared to your own, Ashley, have you tried them on, can you escape them?" He asked Ashley, the witch who had been residing within my pack since the war.
"Who do you think helped make them? They are more powerful than even I, so to answer your question, I have worn them, and I did not escape." She responded with pride. Eyes were now looking around the room as the information was finally sinking in. I then snapped my fingers, releasing Devin.
"Okay, so if nobody else wants a go, let's continue with the meeting, shall we?"
"I think Jared should wear them, maybe knock his ego down another peg." Another werewolf responded, his face had a lopsided grin as Jared let out yet another growl.
"Oh, no? You don't want to embarrass yourself some more? Okay, let's move on then." They then responded to the second growl with a laugh.
"All of you are weak, I can escape them if I want!" Jax screamed out.
"Oh yeah? Then do it." Dalton retorted.
"I am her goddess-given mate. If I am her mate, then the Goddess wouldn't allow her to overpower me." He said, making both Leo and Gunner laugh. "Goddess, he is dumb," Gunner said, shaking his head.
"Am not! Just because your female mate can overpower you, does not mean she can with me!"
"I can overpower you, idiot. Or have you forgotten the ass-kicking you received not long ago? Also, I have no shame to admit my mate is more powerful than me." Gunner said back.
Jax began to try to escape, his face turning bright red the more he pulled his arms apart in an attempt to break the cuffs. "I can just break my hand and it will slide out!"
"I wouldn't do that if I were yo-" I started to say before Jax roared out in agony.
"MOTHER FUCKER!" Tears now streaming down his face.
"As I was trying to say, you will not have the capability of healing fast as a wolf would, you will feel the pain to the extreme and the cuffs will automatically transform to fit your hand, so there is no escaping."
"Look, the big bad Beta is crying." Dalton snickered. He must have hate for Jax.
"Alright, let's get this trial going. After it is concluded, we will talk about the plans for the future. Then we will address questions before ending the meeting. Everyone on the same page?" After many nods, I started in.
I pulled out memories from both Jax's and Derek's minds to be on display for everyone to see. From the marking and mating of multiple she-wolves, kidnapping me, the torture of many innocent people, rape, and then the question we have all been wondering about, a memory of what happened to Derek.
"Get out of my mind!" He screamed as the memory started to play out.
***
"Alpha Jax, I have misted the entire pack, all memories wiped, nobody will have any clue what has occurred. You make the reality for their lives now."
"And Derek?"
"I gave him the potion that was created. No amount of magic can recover his fried brain now."
"Wonderful. And his father?
"Dead Sir."
"Great, so with this misting, does it mean that I can give each member new lives?"
"Yes sir, new roles, new lives, new whatever."
"Perfect, have you found Lisa or Lovett yet?"
"Lovett is in hiding, unable to be located at this moment, but Lisa, I was able to locate her remains."
"Remains huh, who killed the whore?"
"It seems Lovett did while abducting the mutt Alpha of the Silver Lake pack."
"Good, fewer witnesses. We need to find Lovett and get her under control."
"On it."
"Oh, and Emerald?"
"Yes, Alpha?"
"I need my memories locked away so that nobody can access them by any means."
"It is done, sir."
"Great and also, go ahead and kill the previous Luna and her newborn child, please. After I'm done with Derek for this meeting, I want him dead as well."
"Got it."
"You’re dismissed."
"Yes, Alpha." The lady addressed by the name of Emerald said before exiting and the memory disappeared as it ended.
***
Lisa is dead. Lovett killed her. Well, that solves one of our issues but leaves the question of how to handle her father in its wake.
"What the fuck was all that?" Jared asked.
"That was Jax and Derek's core memories."
"You did that to your pack, to your Alpha, to a newborn child!?" He raged as he turned to Jax.
"How did you do that!? Emerald said nobody could ever access my memories. She made sure of it!"
"She is no match for me," I replied, looking away from Jax.
"Now that we have all bared witness to the unjustifiable actions that BETA Jax has done. How do we rule?" I asked, emphasizing the word Beta.
"Death!" Jared yelled.
"Death by fire!" Another roared.
"Make him pay for his crimes!" Another screamed out.
I went around the room to get a vote for what they preferred. The option was either death or stripping his supernatural ability away, banishing him as a human to live amongst them until he dies. When I got around the room, the majority voted for death.
"Jax Liam Lee, Beta of the Riverbound pack, you are hereby sentenced to death for the crimes you have committed. You will die tonight when the moon reaches its full peak. You can beg for the forgiveness of the Moon Goddess so that your soul can pass through. However, tonight you will die of silver, in the form of a bullet to the skull. Do you understand these charges?"
"Fuck you bitch, I will kill you, I will kill all of you!"
"What about Derek and all the crimes he has committed?" Dalton asked, interrupting Jax's threat.
"He is braindead Alpha; therefore, he cannot be punished any more than that."
"I say we strip his wolf away and send him to be with the humans. Jax killed his family. He has nobody to care for him. Let the medical doctors in the human world deal with his inability to function now." Dalton then said.
I looked around the room as others agreed with what he was saying. Even if I did not, it was something we all can agree upon, the majority vote winning.
"All in favor of stripping Alpha Derrek's supernatural ability away?" After multiple yes's, I simply nodded.
"Alpha Derek of Riverbound pack, I am sorry for what happened to you. I am not sure if you can hear me or if you even understand. But tonight, when the moon is at its peak, you will be stripped of your supernatural abilities and sent to live among humans. Case adjourned." I said with finality, sealing their fate with one swish as the pen wrote out the trial.
Next, I sent the paper around the room for each member to sign. That way, the record shows what was discussed, who agreed, and the final decision.
"Daxton, please escort Jax and Derek to the doors. A few guards are waiting to escort them both to the dungeons to await their punishment tonight." Daxton immediately stood walking around the table yanking up Jax by his arm.
"Music to my ears." Daxton hissed out. "Serves you well."
"Fuck you!" Jax roared once again as his head came down trying to head-butt Daxton, only missing and hitting the wall beside them. Once they were gone, and Daxton was once again seated, it was time to talk about the plans.
"Next on our to-do list, I would like to address the idea of working together with all species to create a better world for our future."
"As if." Jared snickered lowly.
"The plan is to be able to use each other's resources, be able to help one another to create not only a safer environment but also be able to access knowledge and be able to work as one. That way we can all thrive together." I kept speaking, ignoring his sly comment. I knew this wasn't going to happen overnight, but in time it was my goal.
"This is not something that has to happen today, I want to work together to create the trust that will eventually allow unity. I want to acknowledge women in their potions, allowing them to also have a voice in matters as we are not all treated equally."
A few women started clapping at that while some men had faces of disgust.
"I also want to know if anyone else has any suggestions for moving forward that could help their pack, coven, or clan?" I asked.
"It is okay not to have any thoughts right now. I want you all to know I am here to talk to you. You can address the issues, wants, or desires with me in private, and at our next meeting, we can address them. I plan on us having a quarterly meeting, which is every 3 months. Attendance is mandatory. Once we are in a groove, we can discuss moving the meetings to twice a year. However, as of now, it will be quarterly, aside from any trials that may occur in between. The trials will also be mandatory attendance as we need each member to vote." When nobody said anything, I decided to move on to questions.
"So, as of right now, these are the plans for the future. We can discuss it in more detail at our next meeting once it is all underway if you do not have any questions now. With that being addressed, you can all ask any other questions that may have arisen since the beginning of the meeting."
After a little while longer of going back and forth with questions about how I became me, what has happened to me to become who I am, why I am just now coming forth with my identity, ext. we were able to move past the whole Goddess identity issue. Especially after I put the memories of not only my encounters with the Moon Goddess but also Gunner's memories, with his encounters with her as well, on display for everyone to see. After a lengthy decision, we were finally able to move on from that. We then talked a little about plans and what I envision happening. Once the majority of us had agreed to use one another to create a healthy lifestyle moving forward, the meeting had finally come to an end. I don't see everyone working well together immediately, it will take time to build trust and allow each species to work alongside one another. But even with some agreeing, it brought blissful joy.
"Thank you all for attending. I look forward to hearing from each of you in the days to come. Letters will be sent out with the exact dates of our next meeting soon. But until then, it was lovely meeting each of you. If you choose to remain on my pack lands until Jax and Derek have received their punishment, that is your choice, and you are welcome to do so. There is zero tolerance for violence, fighting, or killing while you visit my land. If you go against my rules, you will also endure punishment. If that is all, the meeting is adjourned."
After everyone was starting to leave, Dalton remained behind a moment, looking at Blaine a little longer.
"Blaine? Is that you?" He asked.
"Do you know me?" He then asked aloud.
"Well, you look a little different from when we met, but how could I forget? You were a beast during our training. I haven't seen you in a long time. I thought you had died alongside your pack when everything was demolished. Where have you been?"
"What pack is he from?" I asked next.
"Oh, um well, the remaining surviving wolf kind of became a part of other nearby packs when some form of an attack hit his pack. Not many survived. I thought he was also dead. Nobody knew what happened, none could remember. With what little members did survive, they all went their ways, becoming part of a new pack. But to answer your question, he was from a pack named Midnight Moon."
"How come it is not written in history?"
"Well, with nobody knowing what truly happened, there was nothing to write."
"My family, they are, they are dead?" Blaine asked.
"You don't know?"
"No, I hardly even remember who I am," Blaine admitted.
Dalton's eyes were sad as he shook his head in understanding.
"I'm sorry you had to find out like this. I am glad you're alive though." He said as he touched his shoulder before turning around and also exiting the room. Leaving Daxton, Blaine, Ashley, Gunner, Leo, and myself alone. I let out a sigh.
"Well, at least we managed to tackle a few issues we needed to address," I said to the group.
"Lisa is dead." Gunner then said.
"Unfortunately, yes, but we also know how she died and who has her body," I stated.
"We need to retrieve Lisa's body for her family," Gunner said next.
"We will, baby," I said, trying to smooth out the conversation.
"And we need to fix the Riverbound Pack from that misting spell," Leo stated next.
"And find a new Alpha for their pack." Daxton then said.
"And we will. But how about, let's address that tomorrow? Tonight is a big night, our first official trial death."
"Agreed," Leo replied.
"Alright, let's all go get some dinner, that meeting lasted a lot longer than I was expecting it to." I then said.
We all filed out and went to the dining hall where a lot more members had chosen to stay than I had expected. After getting food and sitting down, I let out another sigh of relief. Tonight, those assholes will pay for their crimes, even if I feel a little bad for Derek now, he is still as guilty for the crimes he did commit. Tomorrow we will address the Riverbound Pack and get them back to their normal selves while also addressing a new Alpha for their pack, as no other Alpha heir remains alive or capable of being the Alpha of their pack. We will also retrieve Lisa's body to give back to her family so they can properly bury and mourn her death. Today may have been a lot, but it seems like tomorrow will also be just as challenging.
