Chapter 5 Elara's POV
My body had been failing me for days, I could barely eat. My head turned every morning, and my wolf, I couldn't feel anything from her again. At first I thought it was the pain of rejection but I figured it might be something else entirely like something was draining me down heavily.
When it was afternoon I couldn't stand straight properly. The head maid and Mara yelled at me to go to the pack hospital, it was my last choice but I had no other options.
I went to the section meant for servants and other workers, immediately the nurse set her eyes on me. She allowed me inside immediately like she sensed that I was going to die.
“You look awful! Sit down.” She said,
I obeyed, my fingers were trembling.
“What's your name?” She asked.
“Elara.” I answered.
“Elara, the doctor will check you up and you'll be good.” She said smiling then left.
I sighed, I wasn't expecting the warm welcome here. The hospital was different from the pack house. I guess doctors and nurses must have good relationships with people.
After I was done with the checkup, the doctor called me back into his office. I took my seat and listened to what he had to say, he stared at me for a while, he hesitated and that alone scared me. I feared his words might crush me.
Am I sick? Will I die soon?
“Elara… you are …pregnant.”
My heart stopped
“What?” I whispered, shaking my head. “That can’t…. no…”
The doctor nodded gently. “It is early, maybe six weeks, you need rest, food, and you need to be calm. Stress isn’t a good thing for either of you.”
No this can't be happening, not now.
“Doctor…. how…many…people know of this?” My voice cracked.
“Just the two of us.” He said and I nodded.
I sat numb listening to all the instructions the doctor gave, when he was done I stood up wobbly going back to the house. The words echoed in my head as I was walking. At that point it felt like the whole world passed in front of me in a blur.
I walked through the pack’s courtyard absent minded, barely noticing the people that were staring at me. I caught the way some of them whispered when they saw me. I didn’t need to hear those words because I knew they weren’t kind.
“She is still around?”
“Selena should have kicked her out already.”
“She threw herself at the Alpha, she's so pathetic.”
I kept walking, but every word they said made my chest tightened. I could feel my wolf whimpering inside me. She was tired and hurt.
When I got to my small room I closed the door shut, my hands and my body were shaking so badly that I could do anything.
I slumped down to my knees and bursted into tears, I couldn't stop crying, tears poured down heavily and I pressed my palm against my flat stomach.
I was carrying Kaden’s child, the one who had rejected me harshly during my first night with me. He used me and dumped me. That alone hurt more than rejecting me as his mate. To think of him not seeing me since that morning that I fainted made the pain even unbearable for me.
And now I'm carrying his child.
I wiped my tears when I remembered Selena ordered that I serve her dinner. It was obvious she wanted to take her frustration out on me, she didn't want dinner, she wanted to punish me.
My feet became heavy the more I approached Selena's room. I paused when I reached her door, I was about to knock on the door when I heard her voice, she was on the phone.
I sighed, turned around planning to come back but I froze in place when I heard my name. Quickly I stepped closer to the door, leaned closely to hear what she was saying about me.
“Yes, Elara the Omega you'll find her in the servant quarters, make sure you do a clean job she mustn't live to see the sunrise.”
My breath caught.
“And remember it mustn't be traced back to me, no one can know of this to make it look like she took her own life.” She said coldly.
My eyes widened, the tears that had managed to stop came out again this time it was silent. I glanced down at my stomach. If Selena succeeded she wasn't just taking a life.
She was taking two lives.
I turned around quickly and silently I ran down the hallway, I didn’t stop until I reached my room. My hands were trembling as I locked the door.
I pressed my hand against my flat stomach “I won't let her hurt you, I promise.” I sniffed.
As fast as I could, I grabbed my stuff into the little bag I had. When I was done I sat down hugging my knees thinking of where to go. I couldn't find an answer.
The only thing I knew was that I had to leave tonight, when it was dark and everywhere was quiet. I grabbed my bag, opened the door silently, tiptoed out of the servant quarters.
I used the forgotten route that wasn't guarded, my heart tightened as I ran. My lungs tightened as I ran, but it wasn't for long that I stumbled on a stone, a cry left my mouth.
I froze when I heard the snapping of twigs followed by the sound of growling.
My breath caught they had found me.
“Get her!”
“She mustn't get past the border!”
I stood up fastly, running as fast as I could. I sped through the woods, the thorns tore through my skin as I ran. I was tired and weak, my wolf wouldn't help she hadn't healed from the rejection.
The growls grew louder. I could tell they were too close, too real. I could hear the sound of claws on the ground, their laughter echoing behind me.
I bursted through the last line of trees, my breathing was uneven, I clutched my stomach in fear as the rogues surrounded. I heard a twig snap and I stumbled falling to the ground.
I turned around in fear and the next thing I saw were glowing eyes coming from the darkness, racing straight for me.
“Please!!!!” I screamed.
