Chapter 212 Confrontation in the Pine Forest

Chapter 212 Confrontation in the Pine Forest

“You chose the wrong prey. This woman standing before you is the pillar that will bring down your masters,” Arkan roared. His rough voice cut straight through the rising howl of the eastern storm winds and driving snow.
He leaped ahead of the refugee tents and planted his scarred frost‑whipped body firmly at the front line. The rusted dagger in his right hand pointed dead at the scarred bandit leader’s face. His wild wolven instincts flared fully flooding his veins with adrenaline. Every part of him focused on protecting Diana who had just stepped out from the medical tent behind him.
The chief glared back and swung his heavy iron hammer sideways in a brutal arc. “I care nothing for your fort’s tales and legends Arkan. Hand them over or I will flatten this camp right now.”
“Take one more step past this crack in the ground and you will regret it you cur,” Jace shouted from the left flank. His voice sliced through the noise to box the raiders in.
He drove his brass mechanical leg deep into the freezing slush. The metal gave a solid steady groan as it locked in place. His silver armored arm angled deliberately to guard the camp’s center. He stood between the attackers and the Eastern Fang children crying hard in their mothers’ arms. “Silver defense unit hold the barrier formation. Do not let a single one of them touch even the tent fabric.”
“Attack,” the chief shouted and gave the signal to all thirty of his men.
Close quarters fighting erupted instantly at blistering speed amid blinding thick snowfall. The outsider clan raiders surged forward violently swinging spiked iron chains meant to tear right through the defenders’ armor.
Jace led the defense with tight military precision. Though he fought with only one strong right arm he used the weight of his silver plate and the hydraulic force of his prosthetic leg to smash two front‑rushing raiders hard enough to crack their ribs. He turned his whole body quickly and deflected spear thrusts with his long blade moving with sharp efficient guerrilla skill.
At the very center of the clash Arkan fought with raw explosive fury. Every year of frustration and captivity under Valerius poured straight into every swing of his blade.
SCREECH. CRACK.
Arkan ducked low under an axe stroke then drove his rusted dagger straight into the joint gap of the man’s leather armor at the neck. Fresh red blood spilled dark across the white snow. Without wasting a heartbeat he spun around to intercept an iron chain aimed straight at Diana’s back. The spiked metal tore deep into his forearm and drew blood but he did not flinch.
“Stay behind me Diana,” Arkan gasped out between short ragged breaths. Pure protective instinct drove every word. “Do not let them lay a hand on you.”
Diana watched Arkan and Jace push far past what any body could endure simply because the enemy numbers were too great. The bandits kept pressing forward trying to break the front line so they could reach the children’s tents at the rear.
She closed her mismatched eyes for half a second and drew strength from the brass charm at her throat to steady her racing heart. She pushed every trace of fear from her mind and stepped two small paces forward past Arkan’s back.
Diana opened her mouth wide and let the faint silver glow running through her veins flow straight to her voice.
“Hear my command all weapons of metal. Unbind and fall useless to this ground,” she called out at full volume. She unleashed her Alpha’s Voice in a powerful horizontal wave.
SWOOSH.
Her balancing frequency shot outward as a dense clear silver cone striking every corner of the battlefront. The command worked by magical means to unravel the molecular bonds holding the bandits’ gear together.
Spiked chains slave‑spears and even the great iron hammer grew scorching hot all at once. Every piece vibrated violently at a high pitch that instantly blistered the raiders’ hands.
“Aargh. My weapon… my hands are burning,” the men screamed in panic. They were forced to drop every tool of war onto the ice ground. No one could bear the touch of the neutralizing energy pouring from Diana’s voice.
Her vocal tactic crippled the enemy’s striking power in one critical second.
Arkan seized that golden moment. He moved like a starving wolf rushing forward to bring the scarred chief crashing down onto the ice. He planted his knee hard against the man’s massive chest and pressed his dagger tip right against the hollow of his throat.
“Tell me exactly who sent you to this camp before I slice your rough neck open,” Arkan demanded. His tone was rigid and cold edged with rage ready to deliver the killing blow.
The chief gasped stiffly for air. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth from the earlier fall. He looked past Arkan straight into Diana’s glowing two‑toned eyes with pure terror written across his face.
He let out a short choked rasp of laughter that lasted barely a second before his life force drained away completely.
“You… you think this war is done just because Valerius is dead Arkan,” he whispered. His voice grew faint and rigid with every last breath. “You fool… the rest of the outer council… they never surrendered. They… they still use their whole intelligence network to hunt for that healer with two‑colored eyes… to use her as a new energy conduit… my troop… we were only… the first line…”
CRACK.
The chief’s head rolled sideways as his pulse vanished entirely. He died before he could reveal the next enemy location or plan. Heavy silence fell over the pine forest camp broken only by the raging storm. Arkan and Diana stood frozen in fresh tactical horror knowing the political threat beyond the walls still hunted them and their people with relentless speed.
