Chapter 343
Chapter 343
Isabella's POV
Morning light filtered through the half-drawn curtains, casting a soft golden glow across the bedroom. I lay comfortably in bed, holding sleeping Olivia in my arms, with Lucian quietly nestled against my side. In this peaceful morning moment, Gabriel suddenly sat up and grabbed his phone from the nightstand.
"I can't take it anymore," he said softly, nervously scrolling through his contacts, "I'm calling Ryan. I need to know exactly what he saw in Olivia's future."
I tried to reach for his arm but was immobilized by the two children in my embrace. "Gabriel, please," I kept my voice low, afraid of waking the children, "Sarah already told us everything we need to know."
"Everything we need to know?" He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, "She only said our daughter will experience many dramatic events, and then refused to reveal any details. How am I supposed to spend the next twenty years in peace?"
I couldn't help but smile at Gabriel's overprotectiveness, which was both touching and amusing. "If you react like this every time our daughter goes through a Moon's Blessing Ceremony, we won't dare have another girl."
Gabriel let out an exaggerated sigh and flopped back onto the bed. "Then we'll only have boys from now on."
I bit my lip to suppress a smile, remembering how the Moon Goddess's messenger had shown me a future where we would have two more children—one boy and one girl. Gabriel would eventually have to accept this reality.
Seeing him finally put down his phone, I nodded with satisfaction. "Good, I'm glad you're being reasonable."
"Actually... I haven't hung up," he admitted somewhat awkwardly, "Ryan's just not answering."
I rolled my eyes. "Can't you try to accept that some things are meant to remain unknown until they happen? Ordinary families never know what their children's futures hold, yet they manage just fine. At least we know Olivia will have an exciting life and be loved."
Gabriel wanted to argue, but I gently interrupted him, "Think about it. Whether you know about these events or not, they're still going to happen. Knowing will only make you more anxious."
He frowned. "You know more than I do. Sarah must have told you something."
"Actually, she didn't. Sarah knows the details, but she's keeping them even from me. Ryan too—she made him promise not to tell." I carefully adjusted Olivia in my arms, "Olivia's life belongs to her, Gabriel. We're fortunate to know our children will grow up healthy and happy."
Gabriel's expression finally softened, and he slid back beside me, wrapping his arm around our family. The morning light grew brighter, warming the entire room. He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on my hair.
I looked down at our sleeping daughter, then brushed my thumb across Lucian's cheek. A deep sense of peace and contentment flowed between the four of us.
"Would you want to know?" I asked softly after a moment, "If you could know everything the Moon Goddess planned for you in advance?"
Gabriel's gaze moved between our two children as he gave it serious thought. "You mean... if I could know beforehand how my life would turn out?"
"Yes," I explained, "would you have wanted to know that your relationship with Vanessa would fail? That you would meet me, we'd go through all that chaos, and end up with these two children?"
He was silent for a long time before finally speaking: "What I treasure most is the family and partnership we've built together."
I looked at him in surprise, "More than the children?"
"Don't make me rank the people I love," he teased, "no matter how I arrange it, you'll be unhappy."
"I'd better be first." I pretended to threaten.
Gabriel chuckled, "You're all first, just in different categories."
"Well said," I sincerely agreed, "That's exactly how I feel. This family we have, each part is so beautiful. You're the center of my universe, but the whole family is my universe too."
"You're better with words than I am." he said, kissing my forehead.
Our eyes met, and I noticed the golden gleam in his. Despite being exhausted from caring for the children, I still felt that familiar tenderness and longing stirring within me.
"Focus," I reminded him, and myself, "answer my question. Would you want to know everything fate has planned for you?"
Gabriel contemplated seriously. "Knowing the future in advance would certainly be reassuring, reducing anxiety and heartbreak. Knowing everything would ultimately turn out well would indeed be comforting."
Through our bond, he shared his past pain: his mother's sacrifice to protect him, the agony of separating from Vanessa, the infertile marriage, the rejected mating, the lonely years, and the confusion when he first met me.
In response, I shared my own wounds: the days with only Sarah for company, Brian and Jessica's betrayal, and that desperate longing for children that seemed hopeless.
Gabriel's love enveloped me gently through our connection, soothing all the scars. "But most importantly," he said softly, "even knowing the outcome would be good, what's most precious is that we chose each other. We fought for this happiness."
He looked deeply into my eyes. "Even without fate's arrangement, I would have chosen you. I would have chosen our life."
Tears welled in my eyes. "I would choose you in a thousand lifetimes," I whispered, "no matter what."
Gabriel held me tighter, gently embracing our little family. "So, knowing the future doesn't really matter. What matters is that everything we have now is worth all the storms we weathered."
I smiled through my tears. "Should we start calling Olivia 'little trouble'? Sarah seems to really like that nickname."
"Absolutely not," Gabriel immediately objected, "you're my 'little trouble,' my Luna. Olivia needs her own nickname."
"What about Lucian?" I looked down at our son, "Is he trouble too?"
Gabriel smiled tenderly. "Lucian is sweet. He doesn't cause trouble. He'll become a strong Alpha someday."
"We need to teach him to balance strength and gentleness," I said seriously, "otherwise people might be intimidated and never see his soft heart."
Gabriel nodded solemnly. "I'll teach him how to protect his kind nature, not change it."
I gazed at Gabriel, marveling at the contrast he embodied—the most powerful Alpha in Silver Creek City, yet also the gentlest man I'd ever known. And here I was, once a betrayed human girl with nothing, now Luna to a powerful pack and mother to two children.
"I love you." I said softly.
"I love you too, little trouble." he responded, his voice husky.
Our family of four nestled close together as drowsiness overtook us again. Gabriel's embrace shielded us like armor. I knew I should put the children back in their cribs, but I couldn't bear to break this perfect moment.
As sleep gradually claimed me, I felt utterly content. Because I knew that when I woke, I would continue to have all this—leading the Silver Creek City pack alongside my Alpha, and perhaps someday, becoming the first family of werewolves across the nation.
