Chapter 335
Chapter 335
Isabella's POV
Gabriel gently pressed his forehead against mine, his breath warm and steady as it brushed across my cheek. His gaze was focused and profound, as if trying to read everything from my eyes, ensuring that neither I nor our daughter had been affected by the Dark God.
"Are you sure you're both okay?" he asked softly, his voice carrying undisguisable concern, "You and the baby?"
I nodded, still tenderly holding our newborn daughter. "We're really fine, I promise." I carefully handed the swaddled bundle to him, "Here, hold your daughter."
Gabriel's hands trembled slightly as he took her. When our daughter lay quietly in his arms, I felt a wave of pure, intense love surge through our mental bond, an emotion so profound it made my eyes slightly moist.
"She's completely conquered me," he murmured in admiration, his eyes filled with wonder and tenderness, "Just one look, and she's become my everything."
I couldn't help but smile, gently stroking his arm. "Don't worry, I won't tell her how much influence she has over you."
"Our little secret." he responded softly, his gaze still unwilling to leave his daughter's tiny face.
In this tender moment, I suddenly realized an important issue.
"Gabriel," I reminded him, "we haven't named her yet."
He looked up, clearly surprised as well. "You're right."
"What about Emily?" I suggested tentatively, "Or Sophia?"
We exchanged feelings through our mental bond, yet both felt these names weren't suitable. Neither name resonated with us.
Gabriel gazed down at our daughter, silent for a moment, then declared, "Olivia, her name is Olivia."
"Olivia..." I repeated softly, savoring the name. "Olive tree, symbolizing peace and fertility. It's beautiful."
I reached out to gently touch her tiny fingers, saying softly: "Welcome to the world, Olivia Vasquez. You are already deeply loved."
As if understanding my words, Olivia gave a tiny yawn and curled up tighter in her father's arms.
The medical team returned to the room at this time to begin postpartum procedures. I breastfed Olivia for the first time, amazed at her natural instinct. After the placenta was successfully delivered, someone helped me take a shower while Sarah carefully looked after Olivia.
Despite feeling completely exhausted, I couldn't bear to look away. Each time I saw Olivia's little face, joy welled up uncontrollably within me.
Sarah gently brought Olivia, wrapped in a blanket, over to my side and handed her to Gabriel so he could hold his daughter again.
"I can't wait to see you grow up, learn to walk, say your first words..." I whispered to her as the nurse helped me back to bed.
The doctor completed his final examination and smiled. "Both mother and daughter are doing very well. Luna, your recovery ability is remarkable, and the delivery process went smoothly."
I had just leaned back against the pillows when the door was pushed open. Ryan entered carrying a tearful Lucian, whose little face was red from crying.
William maneuvered his wheelchair into the room, his eyes filled with anticipation, eager to see his granddaughter.
"Mama!" Lucian called out tearfully, his little hands reaching desperately for me.
"Oh, baby." I immediately opened my arms, and Ryan carefully placed him beside me as I held him tight.
Ryan rubbed his hair, smiling helplessly, "This is probably the first time he's been away from you for so long since he was born."
"We might be a bit too attached." I said, kissing the top of Lucian's head while smiling self-deprecatingly.
I just like being with my children, I thought to myself, there's nothing wrong with that.
Lucian sniffled in my arms a few times, then turned toward Gabriel, reaching for him. "Dada!"
Gabriel moved closer, holding Olivia with one arm while gently stroking Lucian's hair with his other hand. "It's okay, little one. We were just welcoming your sister."
He shifted slightly, allowing Lucian to see Olivia clearly. "Look, this is Olivia, your little sister."
Lucian's emotions changed immediately. He wrinkled his little face, made a "Bleh!" sound in protest, then buried his face in my clothes, clutching tightly at the hem of my shirt.
Everyone in the room was amused by his frank reaction.
"Oh, Lucian." I chuckled while gently patting his back.
"You need to be nice to your sister," I gently persuaded him. Gabriel sat beside me, William moved his wheelchair to the bedside, and Sarah and Ryan gathered around as well.
I helped Lucian adjust his position so he could better see his sister. Gabriel held Olivia closer, revealing her little face.
"Lucian, this is Olivia," Gabriel introduced softly.
"Olivia?" Sarah's voice trembled with excitement, "That name is perfect!"
I smiled in response to Sarah, then looked down at Lucian. "What do you think of your little sister?"
Lucian made a string of indistinct baby sounds, but I could feel his emotions shifting from jealousy to curiosity. He carefully leaned forward, examining the small bundle in his father's arms.
What happened next took my breath away.
Lucian reached out his little hand and gently touched Olivia's cheek. The moment their skin made contact, I felt energy surge through our family bond—a completely new connection forming silently, distinctly different from the bonds Gabriel and I shared with our children.
"Oh!" I gasped softly, my eyes meeting Gabriel's.
"You felt it too?" Gabriel asked, equally shocked.
I nodded, momentarily speechless.
Sarah looked at us in confusion, "What just happened?"
I tried to compose myself and explained, "They've formed a mental connection between them, a bond independent of their parents."
Ryan frowned, "What does that mean?"
Gabriel shook his head slightly, "We're not sure yet either."
I worriedly stroked Olivia's hair, "I hope it's not too stimulating for her. Being born and forming a new bond on the same day seems a bit much."
Gabriel chuckled reassuringly, "In our family, the children will have to get used to all kinds of 'excitement' sooner or later."
He carefully placed Olivia on the bed between us, and our whole family quietly watched Lucian and his sister interact. Sarah leaned in closer, her eyes filled with wonder.
Lucian carefully reached out again, gently touching Olivia's cheek. I could feel the connection between them deepening.
Gabriel said quietly, "I've never heard of siblings having such a strong mental bond, especially one independent of their parents."
I carefully adjusted Lucian's position to ensure he wouldn't press on the newborn. Everyone held their breath watching the unique interaction between the siblings.
William had been quietly observing, his face full of confusion and contemplation. Finally, he slowly spoke, "What can you feel? How is this different from the mental bond between us?"
Gabriel turned to his father, saying seriously, "Their bond is unique, Dad, different from the connection we have with them."
"I always knew these two children would be special, but I didn't expect this."
Ryan pressed, "Have you heard of anything similar before?"
William pondered for a moment, then slowly nodded, "There are some ancient legends about bonds between werewolf siblings with special abilities. But those stories are too distant, and I'm not sure if they apply to the present."
Gabriel's gaze became more focused: "Dad, do you remember the details of those stories? What do you know about this kind of bond?"
