Chapter 72 The Fire Wolf
Liam’s POV
We walked in silence as we got to the library.
I wrapped the Elena’s necklace in the cloth she had brought with it.
I had never touched the necklace before expect for that night when the rogues attacked her.
It held so much power. I could feel it even when it was covered with a cloth.I looked at Elena. I could tell how she was feeling but I knew it wasn’t anything good.
“Good day Alpha, you are back?” Mrs Hannah said. “And you brought our Luna,” she smiled.
“Good morning ma,” Elena greeted with a weak smile.
“Good morning Luna,” she said and turned to me. “What do you need today.”
“Take a look at this necklace,” I said as I brought the necklace out for her to see.
She reached out. “No don’t touch it!” Elena said.Mrs Hannah took her hand back. “Sorry,”
“I’m I didn’t mean to shout, it’s just that it really sensitive.” She muttered.
“Oh okay,” Mrs Hannah said as she picked up her glasses and began to examine it.
She looked at it for a while and did say anything.
“I believe I have seen this symbol somewhere around..,” she said as she looked around the library.
She moved out of the counter and we followed her closely behind.
“Where exactly is that thing,” she muttered to herself.
Elena moved closer to me. “Are you sure she knows where to find it?” she whispered.
I chuckled. “Yes, Mrs Hannah has been taking care of the library since I was a kid, if she says that symbol is here then she must be right.”
“I didn’t mean to say that, it’s just that I am just worried we wouldn’t find it,” she muttered.
I looked at her. I knew it was more than that that was troubling her.
“Ah here it is,” Mrs Hannah said as we stopped at a small corner filled with old scattered scrolls.
“What are we looking at exactly?” I said.
Mrs Hannah pointed on the edge of the wall. “Here,” she said.
I looked closer and saw the same symbol on it.
Elena came closer until her fingers touched it.
“Wow, Mrs Hannah you really have sharp senses.”She laughed and tapped Elena’s back. “Thank you child, I guess when you work here every day, you memorize some things.”
I touched the symbol on the wall but it didn’t look like it could move or do anything.
“Thank you Mrs Hannah, I will let you know if there’s anything else.” I said as I turned around.
“You are welcome, Alpha,” she said and left.“I think it can move,” Elena said as she tried to push it.
“Let me have a look,” she moved away and I took a good look at it.“I don’t think so too,” I said.
“Let’s look around and check those scrolls maybe they have something on how to open them.”
“Okay,” Elena said as she went over to the dusty scrolls and began checking. We were at it for almost an hour.
“Liam, I don’t think that there anything here that can help us,” Elena said.
I was trying to think I looked back at the symbol on the wall and then the necklace on the table.
What was I missing? I thought to myself. I walked over and took the necklace in my hand and stared at it.
I looked back at the symbol on the wall.
My eyes widened. They were the same but different. I walked back to the wall and placed the Elena’s necklace on the symbol on the wall.
Just as I thought they connected together.Nothing happened at first.
“It didn’t work,” Elena muttered.
Then the wall began to move. I let go of the necklace and it was still connected to the wall.
The wall kept opening until it finally stopped.
We looked inside to see a line of stairs leading down.
“Stay behind me,” I told Elena.
I took the first step and Elena followed behind.
The more steps we took, the place was getting darker.
I was about to say that we turned around slowly. The place began to glow.
On the walls were stones and every step we took they glowed brighter.
We finally got to the ground and Elena gasped.
It looked like a library.
Which I found ironic. A library inside a library.
Elena moved past me. “It’s so beautiful,” she said, lost with how the place looked like.
I nodded in agreement.
I looked around the place. There weren’t much books but it was probably close to a hundred.
“We need to start looking now, I don’t want Mrs Hannah losing her mind about where we went to,” I said as I walked over to the books.
“Right,” Elena said like she had snapped out of her daydream. I smiled as I watched her.I looked around for anything that had the same symbol on it.
It didn’t take long to find it. “I found something.”
Elena rushed over. “What is it?”
“We are about to find out,”
I opened the book and read.the lycans.
The lycans were created by the Goddess Selene and they were the first ever werewolves to have lived.
They were very powerful and strong but the goddess Selene refused to make the same mistake her sister had made with the first witches. She had given them powers but they had weaknesses. Silver and wolfsbane. She did this because they won’t be invincible. The first lycans were seven in number and they were all loved and cherished by the Goddess.
But Selene had a favorite among them, Alaric. She loved him more than the others. And because of that she gave him more power than the other. The power of fire. His power was great and beautiful and the more he got used to it his power extended, he began to notice that silver and wolfsbane affected him less. The goddess realized the power was too great to be hidden anymore. She made him the leader of the lycans, so the others wouldn’t dare to go against him.The goddess made sure that his power was passed down to the all his future generations.
But after the werewolves expanded, some began hunting the original lycan line. They claimed that they were too powerful and that their power would be the end of their world.
The lycans, afraid for their survival, broke off and went their separate ways.
The last known lycan carrying Alaric’s blood in them was a girl who lived in a small village once.
Her name was Ciara.
Queen of Darkness.
Elena gasped behind me.
I looked at her.
“It can’t be,” she shook her head. “Ciara, I know her, Liam, she’s been taunting me asking me to let her in.”
I was speechless.
It finally made sense now, why Elena couldn’t find her wolf, why she smelt so different a
nd why she was sealed.
She was hidden because she was powerful.
Because the last descendant of Alaric’s bloodline.
She was the Fire wolf.
