Chapter 221 221

Chapter 221 221
Henri straightened and turned toward the girl called Inés.

Jacqueline could hardly believe what she had just heard.

A witch?

Did such things truly exist?

The thought struck her like a bolt of lightning, dragging up a memory she had almost forgotten. The night Damien had been taken by that strange man Noël. The one covered in piercings and tattoos, charming in a dangerous way.

Damien had told her then that Noël was a vampire.

At the time, she hadn’t believed him.

But now…

He hadn’t been lying.

“She’s useless,” Henri snarled through clenched teeth, dragging his fingers roughly through his hair as he glared down at the ground.

Inés stood rigidly nearby, her body stiff as a drawn bowstring. Her shoulders were tense, her posture rigid. Fear radiated from her. It was painfully obvious she wasn’t here by choice.

“My entire plan has gone to hell,” Henri growled, yanking at his hair in frustration. “I should’ve killed him on the spot instead of wasting time abducting this worthless girl.”

His fury filled the room like poison.

“You can see the future, can’t you?” he demanded suddenly, stalking toward Inés.

The girl tensed even further and took a small, trembling step backward.

“I… I haven’t had any visions yet,” she whispered nervously.

Henri rubbed his temple in irritation.

“Ignacio,” he snapped, turning toward his beta. “Did Alpha Gérard know about our attack? Or that we kidnapped the girl belonging to our enemy?”

“No, Alpha,” Ignacio replied shortly.

Henri scoffed.

“I hate having to report every move to that arrogant bastard before I act,” he spat angrily. “I hate working with him.”

His expression darkened.

“But once I get what I want,” he continued coldly, “I’ll destroy him too… and take his pack.”

Henri turned as if to leave.

But Ignacio spoke up.

“Alpha… what about the girl?”

Henri paused mid-step and slowly turned back to face them.

“Kill her,” he said with a cruel snicker.

Jacqueline’s heart dropped like a stone into the depths of her stomach.

Ignacio’s lips curled into a vile smirk as his gaze slid over her bound body.

“Of course, Alpha,” he rasped. “I’ll kill her… after I’ve had my fun.”

Henri chuckled darkly.

“Why not?” he mused.

But instead of leaving, he slowly prowled toward Jacqueline.

“As an Alpha,” he added mockingly, “I should have the honor first.”

Raw terror flooded her veins.

No… God… no… please… not again…

Before Henri could reach her

“She’s pregnant.”

Inés’ voice cut through the room.

Everything froze.

Jacqueline’s head snapped toward the girl in stunned disbelief.

“What?” Henri snapped irritably.

“She’s pregnant,” Inés repeated calmly, absolute certainty in her tone.

Jacqueline’s throat tightened painfully.

Suddenly, all those strange moments over the past days rushed back to her the nausea, the dizziness. She had blamed it on stress, especially everything she had been going through with Mathieu’s treatment.

But now…

The truth crashed over her.

She and Damien had been together without protection that first time.

He was the only man who had ever been with her like that.

The only one who had ever come inside her.

Even in the middle of such a terrifying situation, warmth bloomed inside her chest.

She was carrying Damien’s child.

His baby.

Would he be happy when he found out?

What would his face look like?

But her thoughts shattered when Henri’s icy voice cut through the air.

“Who’s the father?”

His eyes gleamed with cruel anticipation.

“The father is definitely a werewolf,” Inés replied evenly.

Jacqueline’s heart clenched in fear as Henri slowly turned back toward her.

A sick, twisted grin stretched across his face, making him look almost unhinged as he approached her again.

He crouched down in front of her.

Every nerve in her body trembled.

“I’ll ask nicely,” he said coldly. “Who is the father of the thing inside you?”

Nausea rose bitterly in her throat.

She swallowed hard.

Her eyes darted accusingly toward Inés, but the girl quickly looked away.

“I don’t like playing the nice guy,” Henri muttered darkly.

Jacqueline’s gaze drifted toward Santiago, who stood silently nearby.

She didn’t even know why she was looking at him like that pleading silently.

Of course he wouldn’t help her.

None of them would.

She remained silent.

She couldn’t risk her baby’s life by revealing the truth.

What if they killed the child?

No.

She wouldn’t allow that.

“Ignacio,” Henri hissed impatiently. “Get me a dagger.”

A cold shiver ran down Jacqueline’s spine.

Within seconds, Ignacio returned with a dagger and handed it to him.

Jacqueline began to sob as she struggled weakly against her restraints, trying to move away but her hands and legs were tied. Her body had already stiffened painfully from being forced into the same position for so long.

Henri grabbed the back of her knee and yanked her toward him roughly.

She thrashed wildly, but he motioned to Ignacio.

Ignacio immediately grabbed her shoulders and forced her down against the floor.

Pain shot through her body as she was shoved into an agonizing position.

Her cries meant nothing to them.

Henri lowered the dagger.

The sharp tip pressed directly against her stomach.

The moment the blade touched her skin, Jacqueline went completely still.

She stopped breathing.

Stopped blinking.

“Tell me who the father is,” Henri said slowly, pushing the dagger harder against her stomach, “or I’ll kill the thing inside you before it ever sees the world.”

A cruel laugh escaped him.

The blade pierced her skin slightly.

A small spot of red bloomed on her shirt.

She felt frozen.

Paralyzed.

She didn’t know what to do.

“Tell us,” Inés said quietly, “who the father of your baby is.”

“Damien.”

The name slipped from her lips before she even realized it.

Henri immediately pulled the dagger away.

Both he and Ignacio stood up. Henri tossed the weapon back to Ignacio, who caught it easily.

And then Henri burst into loud laughter.

“Now we’re talking,” he chuckled, rubbing his hands together with excitement.

“Don’t touch her, Ignacio,” he added casually. “I don’t want the thing inside her to die.”

His grin widened cruelly.

“But you can torture her if you want. Just make sure both of them stay alive for now.”

Jacqueline closed her eyes as tears streamed down her face.

Her trembling lips moved silently as she prayed for the safety of her child.

Her soul had only just begun to heal… and yet fate had dragged her into another nightmare.

Everything had limits.

If anything happened to her baby…

She knew she would never be the same again.

Damien… save us…

She mouthed the words into the silent air around her.

Because deep down she could feel it

Misery was preparing to tighten its grip on her life once more.

And despair, as always, waited patiently to cage her soul again.
