Chapter 57 – The Wolf’s Fury

Chapter 57 – The Wolf’s Fury
Her cries were swallowed by the night as she was pulled into the vehicle. The door slammed shut, the engine roared, and the car sped away–trying to disappear into the dark.

The bag lay scattered on the street, fruits rolling onto the pavement, the slip of Ma’am Albright’s list fluttering in the night breeze.

And the phone, its screen cracked, still buzzed faintly with Edward’s voice, calling her name.

Titan drove fast, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. The city lights gave way to the quieter stretch leading toward the mall.

Edward sat stiffly in the back seat, his body tense, his thoughts running like wildfire. His phone was still clutched in his hand, Elara’s voice echoing in his head–the sudden cut, her cry, and then nothing but silence.

“Faster,” Edward barked. His voice was sharp, almost animal-like.

Titan pressed his foot harder against the pedal. “We’re here, sir.”

Immediately they reached the mall, the glow of its lanterns came into view. But Edward’s gaze snapped immediately to movement ahead. A black car shot past the mall entrance, speeding away as though the night itself chased it.

Edward’s heart slammed in his chest. His sharp gaze darted down to the curb.

There.

Scattered across the pavement were a torn bag, fruits rolling into the gutter, and a slip of paper fluttering weakly in the night breeze. And near it–a phone, with the screen cracked.

“Elara…” Edward’s voice dropped to a growl.

Titan slowed only for a second. His eyes caught the same scene, his teeth gritting. “That’s them,” he said firmly.

“Go!” Edward roared.

The car lunged forward as Titan turned the wheel sharply, pursuing the fleeing vehicle.

Inside the other car, Elara struggled. Her arms flailed as she twisted against the man’s grip. His hand was iron around her wrist, his other hand pressing hard against her shoulder to keep her down.

“Let me go!” she cried, kicking against the door, against the seat, against anything she could reach.

“Stop moving!” the man snarled, his voice rough. His companion in the front seat glanced back, his eyes cold.

“She won’t stop unless you put her down,” he muttered.

The man beside Elara pulled a folded cloth from his pocket. He pressed it to her face suddenly. A sharp, chemical smell rushed into her nose.

Elara gasped, trying to hold her breath, twisting her head away. “No! Don’t…”

But the cloth followed, pressing harder. Her strength faltered almost instantly. The world spun around her, her vision blurring. The last thing she felt was the rough hand pinning her down and the suffocating weight of the drug filling her lungs.

Her body went limp.

The man smirked. “Finally.”

Edward’s car pursued with ruthless speed. Titan pushed the engine hard, weaving through the road, closing the gap bit by bit.

Edward leaned forward, his hands gripping the back of Titan’s seat. His chest heaved, his breathing sharp. “Catch them,” he said, each word heavy with fury. “Don’t let them escape.”

Titan’s eyes locked on the fleeing car.

The chase stretched on for minutes that felt like hours. The black car swerved dangerously, trying to lose them, but Titan was relentless.

Finally, Edward’s eyes narrowed. They were close enough. “Cut them off.”

Titan turned the wheel sharply, forcing Edward’s car forward. With one last burst of speed, he swerved into the front of the fleeing vehicle and skidded the car across the road, blocking its path completely.

The screech of tires and the smell of burning rubber filled the air. The rogue’s car jolted to a stop, trapped.

“Now,” Edward said darkly.

In the same breath, his body convulsed. The fury he had held in check finally erupted.

Bones shifted. Muscles tore and reshaped. His chest expanded, his skin prickled as thick fur sprouted along his arms and back. His jaw cracked, lengthening into a snout filled with sharp, glistening fangs.

Edward roared as he transformed fully into his wolf form–a massive beast, larger than any ordinary wolf, his fur a deep shade of shadow, his eyes burning with golden rage.

Titan didn’t hesitate. With a sharp growl, he too leapt from the car, his body breaking apart, reshaping, fur bursting through as he landed heavily on four legs, a gray wolf with blazing eyes.

The night trembled under their power.

Edward leapt first. His claws tore through the car’s hood as he landed heavily on it. The glass windshield cracked under his weight. His fangs bared as a snarl ripped through the air.
Inside, the men shouted, panicked.

“Get out! Now!” one of them cried, shoving the door open.

But as they leapt out, their forms began to shift too. Their bodies twisted violently, bones cracking, fur spilling out until three wolves stood in their place.

Edward’s eyes widened for only a second. Rogues.

The very ones tearing his town apart.

Rage surged through him hotter than fire.

He lunged.

The first rogue wolf barely had time to react before Edward’s claws slashed across its chest. Blood sprayed the air as the wolf yelped, stumbling back.

Titan snarled and charged at the second wolf, their bodies colliding hard. The sound of snapping jaws and tearing fur filled the road as the two wolves clashed, their bodies rolling across the ground.

The third rogue circled, growling, its eyes sharp with hunger and hate. It leapt at Edward’s side, aiming for his throat.

But Edward was faster. He twisted, snapping his jaws, catching the wolf mid-air. His fangs pierced its shoulder, and he threw it down with brutal force.

The fight was chaos–fur, claws, and fangs clashing under the pale moonlight. Growls echoed like thunder, every strike fueled by bloodlust.

Edward was merciless. He tore into the first rogue with his claws, ripping through fur and flesh. The wolf collapsed with a strangled cry, blood pooling beneath it.

Titan managed to pin his opponent, his jaws clamping around its neck. With a savage twist, the second rogue went still.

Only one remained.

Edward turned, his golden eyes burning. The last rogue stumbled back, its chest heaving. Fear flickered in its eyes, but Edward’s fury pressed forward like a storm.

He wanted answers. He wanted to drag the truth out of this wolf–who sent them, why they captured Elara, why they were destroying his people.

He lunged to pin the rogue, but at the last second, it twisted free. Its claws raked his side as it bolted into the night, sprinting into the shadows of the trees.

Edward roared, a sound that shook the road, vibrating through the earth itself. But the rogue was gone.

The silence that followed was heavy, broken only by the sound of ragged breaths.

Titan stood over the dead wolves, his chest heaving, his fur matted with blood. He looked at Edward, who still stood tall, his fangs bared, his fur bristling with fury.

For a long moment, Edward didn’t move. His golden eyes burned toward the trees where the last rogue had escaped. His whole body ached to chase. To hunt. To kill.

But then, Elara.

His head whipped toward the rogue’s car. His massive frame moved with startling speed, claws digging into the ground as he reached the door.
