Chapter 188 – The Truth You Never Saw

Chapter 188 – The Truth You Never Saw
Time has been strange since I shifted.
Everything felt different. My body, my thoughts, even my heart. It felt… louder.

I was sitting on my bed, my fingers wrapped tightly together when I heard the knock.

My breath caught. I didn’t need to ask who it was. I already knew it's Edward.

Seraphina walked to the door and opened it and there he was, seated in his wheelchair.

His eyes found mine immediately and everything inside me tightened.

“Edward…” I whispered.

He didn’t say anything yet. He just wheeled himself inside.

Seraphina was about to close the door when she saw Kian behind Edward.

“Kian?”

He stepped in. His expression looked serious.

“Kian,” Edward said, his voice steady. “What brings you here?”

Kian glanced at me briefly, then back at Edward.

“I have something important to discuss.”

Edward nodded slightly. “Well… I’m already here,” he said. “You can talk here.”

Kian hesitated for a second.

Then nodded “Fine.”

He stepped further into the room.

“We just got information,” he began, “that some gifted betas were moved.”

Edward’s brows pulled together. “Where to?”

Kian exhaled. “Nightfall City.”

The room went quiet. I felt a chill run through me. Edward’s expression darkened slightly.

“You think Damien is behind this?” he asked.

Kian nodded. “We believe he moved them to the Alpha of the Nightfall Pack.”

My chest tightened.

“Why would he do that?” Edward asked.

Kian’s jaw clenched. “Maybe he struck a deal. Maybe he’s trying to build an alliance with them,” Kian added.

Edward’s fingers tapped lightly against the arm of his wheelchair.

“He’s been hiding,” Kian continued. “No one knows where he is.”

I swallowed hard. Edward sighed quietly. “Alright,” he said finally.

Then his eyes shifted slightly. “Do you know if Felix was among them?”

My breath caught. Kian shook his head. “I’m not sure.”

Hope and fear twisted inside me at the same time.

“But I heard there were more than twenty,” Kian added. “That’s what our intel says.”

I lowered my gaze. More than twenty, Felix could be there. Or he could be somewhere worse.

Edward nodded slowly. “At least we know where they are now,” he said.

His voice was calm again. “We’ll strategise,” he added. “Then we strike.”

Kian nodded. “Alright.”

Then Edward turned slightly. “I need to talk to Elara now.”

My heart skipped. Seraphina glanced between us. Then she smiled softly.

“That’s fine,” she said. “I was just about heading to the mall anyway.”

I looked at her.

“I need to get some things for us,” she added. “And I’ll stop by my house too.”

She stepped closer to me briefly. “I’ll be back soon,” she whispered.

I nodded faintly. Then Kian spoke again. “I’ll drive you.”

Seraphina blinked. “You don’t have to,” she said. “I came with my car.”

Kian shook his head immediately. “It’s not safe out there.”

His tone left no room for argument.

“I’ll take you to the mall, then your house, then bring you back.”

Seraphina hesitated. “Kian, really, I…”

“It’s not debatable.”

She paused. Then smiled slightly. “Okay… fine.”
Kian gave a small nod. Then both of them turned toward the door.

“Don’t worry,” Seraphina said to me softly. “You’ll be fine.”

I forced a small smile, then they left. The door closed and suddenly it was just the two of us.

The silence felt heavy. I couldn’t look at him at first.

My fingers tightened together. “I’m sorry.”

The words came out before I could stop them.

My voice shook. “I’m so sorry, Edward…” I finally looked up at him. His eyes were already on me. Listening.

“I should have told you,” I continued. “About my healing powers…”

My chest tightened. “I just… I wasn’t ready.” I shook my head slightly. “I didn’t even understand it myself… I didn’t know how to use it…”

My voice broke. “And Felix… I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about meeting with him too.”

I swallowed hard. Silence. Edward didn’t interrupt. He just watched me till I was done watching.

Then he spoke. “Why?”

The question was simple. But it hit deep.

“I thought…” he continued slowly, “…you were comfortable with me.”

My chest tightened.

“I thought you loved me.” I blinked back tears.

“I do,” I whispered.

“I thought you could tell me everything.”

That broke me. Tears filled my eyes immediately.

“I wanted to,” I said softly. “I really did…” My voice trembled. “But I didn’t know how.”

He didn’t understand. And I didn’t know how to explain it with just words.

So I took a breath and said, “Let me show you.”

He frowned slightly. “What?”

I moved closer. Then I reached out and took his hand. The moment our skin touched everything shifted.

His body stilled. His eyes lost focus. And I felt it, the connection.

“Don’t fight it,” I whispered.

And then I let him see.

Flames. That was the first thing. Bright and wild. Destroying everything.

Edward was there, watching, seeing, feeling everything. But he was not really there.

He experienced it all through my memories.

“My home…” I whispered softly. The fire swallowed everything.

Then he heard shouts, screams, from my mother, my father and Felix. Fear.

Edward saw it. He saw them. He saw me trying to escape from his father’s men.
And at the front his father. The cold and merciless Alpha.

“Please…” my mother begged. But he didn’t listen.

Edward saw it. The moment his father gave the order.

The moment everything ended. Blood and fire.
Screams that never got answers. I felt Edward’s grip tighten. Even in the trance.

“They killed them…” I whispered.

My voice broke. “They killed my parents…”

The memory shifted. Felix was kept in a cage for years after he survived. He was captured and forced to breed Gifted Beta babies.

Then another memory. A different place, a different pain.

A lifeless baby. Edward’s father again.

Desperate this time to save his dead child. “Save him!” he shouted. And there, my sister was standing. Scared but determined.

“She was a healer,” I whispered.

Edward watched as my sister tried. As she poured everything she had into that child until her body gave out.

“She died,” I said softly. “She died trying to save his child.”

The memory faded. But I wasn’t done.

One last thing. One truth he needed to see.
Felix. Angry, broken and consumed. “I’ll kill him,” Felix’s voice echoed. “I’ll kill Edward.” Edward felt it.

The hatred and the pain.

“His family destroyed ours,” Felix said. “They’ll pay for it.”

And then, everything stopped. Edward’s body jerked slightly.

His eyes blinked rapidly. He was back, breathing hard, trying to process everything.

I let go of his hand slowly. My own body was trembling.

The room was silent again but not the same silence.

This one was heavier, full of truth, full of pain. I watched him carefully and that was when Edward finally understood.
