Chapter 11 CHAPTER 11

Chapter 11 CHAPTER 11
Evelyn’s POV

I stormed out of the house before I let the tears that were stinging my eyes to pour. Having money was no excuse for bad behaviour or controlling people.

I drove to Jolene's house in rage. I met her little sister at the door.

“Where's Jolene?” I asked her, ignoring her eyes demanding me for a treat. I wasn't in the mood.

“She's in her room,” she said.

“Thank you.”

I stormed to her room, barging in without knocking. She had her headphones over her ears and she pulled them off in shock.

“What the -”

“Have you no conscience, Jolene?” I barked. “How could you do this?”

She creased her brows. “What have I done?”

“The picture,” I yelled. “I sent you that picture in private. Why is it on the Internet?”

She scrambled out of her chair. “What are you talking about? I never gave out any of your pictures.”

I was not having any of her pretenses anymore. “The picture with the tattoo. I told you to delete it after I sent it. Why did you give it out? For what, Jolene? Are you that jealous of me?”

She flared up. “Hold it right there, Evelyn. There are many things you can call me but I would never trade your naked pictures for anything.”

“So who did?”

“The hell I know!” She snapped. “I have no idea what you're talking about. I deleted the picture immediately you asked me to!”

I bit my lips. She was a lying bitch. “This friendship is over,” I said, walking out and slamming the door.

I had taken that picture when we played a game of Truth and Dare. Because I didn't want to say the truth, I chose to send a picture of me wearing nothing. I had no idea she would use this to try to ruin my image.

I didn't bother going online. I knew my smear campaign would be trending. It's Evelyn Moon again, from one scandal to the next. I was sick of it all.

My step sister smirked at me as I walked into the house. “You should be ashamed of yourself,” she spat out. “Having your nakedness in the world wide web”

I glared at her and continued walking away.

“You don't deserve to be with Alpha Michael, and I hope he dumps you for that,” she continued.

I stopped. “You are just a piece of shit,” I said under my breath.

“What did you say?” She screamed. “How dare you say that to me?”

Her scream invited my step mother who came running down. “What's the matter, Anna?”

She started crying. “She called me a piece of shit, mum. For no reason. Just because she gets to buy us some fancy clothes and shoes doesn't mean she should degrade us.”

I said nothing.

“Take back your words, Evelyn. And apologise to your sister,” she shouted.

“She should apologise first for speaking to me in such a manner,” I said, my voice calm but my insides in turmoil.

“It was the truth. I didn't say anything wrong,” she snapped back.

I folded my arms across my chest as step mother descended the stairs.

“What's this all about, Evelyn? You've forgotten I was the one who made you a thing? Do you think because you are engaged to Alpha Michael, you are above being beaten by me?”

I stood my ground.

“Yes, mother,” Anna said, her voice trembling as though I had laid a finger on her.

“Apologise to her at once,” she said, standing just in front of me. Anna moved closer, hands crossed and looking defiant.

“I won't.”

The words were barely out of my lips when a heavy slap landed across my face. “That's for talking back at me,” she said.

I stepped back. “That's the last time you'll ever do that.”

I turned away and continued to my room. I locked the room and buried my face on my pillow, shedding tears.

__

I stayed away from school for three days, hoping everything would have died down. Jolene called a couple of times, then blocked me. I blocked her too.

When I arrived at school, they just stared. Some whispered and some laughed. I tried to ignore them. This wasn’t the first time that I had suffered such. So I sat alone through the lectures, wore my headset when I was alone and walked to the bathroom to ease myself at midday.

I sighed deeply as I pulled up my underwear and reached for the door handle. The door remained locked. I pulled again, but the door wouldn’t budge. I tapped on the door. “Is anyone there, please?”

I heard a stifled laugh and then someone slid a paper with my naked picture on it with red marker across it saying, whore. I slammed my fist against the door. “Open the damn door!”

The laughter died down suddenly and I heard a familiar voice. “What is going on here?”

I stilled. There were hurried footsteps away and I held my breath as the door opened and Alpha Michael stood in front of me.

“I was fine,” I said, moving past him and feeling totally ashamed.

“You let them bully you?” he asked, staring at the paper on the floor. “Who did this?”

I stepped on it and pulled it away from him. “It’s nothing. Stop poking your nose into my business. I’m not some helpless teenager or a baby.”

He frowned. “Do you know who did this?” he repeated.

“Let me be!” I yelled, pouring out my frustration on me. “I’m tired of everyone trying to police my life. Get busy and leave me the fuck alone.”

I turned to leave but he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. He glared at me and I glared back even though my heart was racing. Then he raised his hand and wiped a strand of hair from my face. “Don’t ever raise your voice at me again,” he said, half threatening and half caring. “Now tell me, who did this?’’
