Chapter 13 The Alpha’s Heir
Isabella’s POV
Landon hasn’t moved an inch for a few minutes now. He stands there, staring at me like I’ve said something impossible.
For a second, I almost think he didn’t hear me clearly…or maybe the words didn’t come out right.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!”
Clara’s voice shatters through the silence, and I flinch. My fingers curl into the bedsheet beneath me as I try to steady myself under Landon’s gaze, but it’s impossible.
“This is a joke, right?” She continues as she takes a step forward towards me, her expression filled with disbelief and utter disgust. “I know this is some pathetic attempt to trap my brother? Huh?”
I shake my head quickly in response, panic already rising in my chest. “No… I…I’m not lying…”
“There is no fucking way,” Clara cuts in before I can finish, her eyes raking all over me with pure disdain, “that a filthy rogue like you could ever carry an Alpha’s child.”
Her words hit deep, sharp and painful, but I force myself to speak again even though my voice is shaking. “I swear, I…I’m telling the truth…I…I didn’t even know until—”
“Shut up.”
The command is cold and final as it echoes through the room, and I fall silent instantly, my lips pressing together as fear crawls up my spine.
“You really expect me to believe this?” She says, her voice dripping into a low, dangerous whisper as she steps closer. “That you suddenly got pregnant with my brother’s child?”
“I’m not lying…” My hands tremble in my lap as I respond weakly. But Clara doesn’t care, I can see it clearly all over her face that she’s already made up her mind.
“You’re not keeping that thing inside of you.”
The words hit me so suddenly I feel like the air has been knocked out of my lungs. “What…?” My voice comes out confused, barely holding together.
“You heard me,” Clara shoots back, her lips curling into something cruel. “You cannot keep that filthy thing inside you…you’ll have to abort it.”
“No…” My heart starts racing faster, panic crashing through me in waves. “I…I don’t—“
“I will not stand here and watch a dirty rogue like you give birth to the Alpha’s heir!” she snaps, her voice thundering through the room, “Do you fucking understand me?”
“Pl…please I plan this…I didn’t even know—“
“And you think that matters to me?” She cuts in coldly, “You think your stupid pleas would change anything?”
I shake my head again, desperation creeping into my voice as I part my lips to speak. But before I can react, she moves, her hand shouts out and grips my wrist tightly.
The sheer brutality of it forces a gasp out of me as pain shoots up my arm. But Clara doesn’t give a care in the world, if anything, she tightens her grip even more, and before I can even process what’s happening, she yanks me forward.
“Get up,” she orders coldly. “You’ve overstayed your welcome in my brother’s chambers!”
“I…please—” I struggle weakly, my body still too drained to resist her grip properly.” You’re hurting me…”
“I’ll drag you out myself if I have to,” she snaps back harshly, dragging me towards the edge of the bed now. Tears sting my eyes as fear takes over completely, god knows where she’s taking me, but I know it won’t be anything good.
“Move you filthy rog—“
“Let go of her hand, Clara.”
The voice cuts through the room like thunder, and just like that, everything stops. Clara freezes, her grip loosening slowly just a little as she turns her gaze to Landon.
He is looking at her now.
He’s not frozen anymore, but there’s something else in his eyes as he stares back at her…Something darker.
“Didn’t you hear me?” he repeats, his voice lower this time but dangerous, “let go of her hand!”
For a brief moment, Clara hesitates, like she actually didn’t believe those words came out of his lips. “She’s lying to you, brother,” she says quickly, her tone defensive. “You can’t seriously believe—”
“Did I ask for your opinion?”
The words are cold and cutting as they echo through the room, and they land with enough force to shut her up instantly.
“Leave my room this minute.”
“Landon—”
“Get. Out.”
The command is simple, but there’s no room to argue. For a second, it feels like she might argue again—but she doesn’t. Instead, her gaze shifts to me, and the look she gives me makes my stomach drop.
There is nothing good about it at all.
“This isn’t over!” She barks, without hesitation, she lets go of my wrist completely, and walks out of the room. The door shuts behind her, the sound echoing louder than it should have.
And just like that… It’s only him and me all alone. I can feel his presence suffocating any ounce of life I had left as Landon’s gaze slowly returns to me.
“How,” he says finally, his voice low and controlled, “how the hell is it possible that you’re pregnant with my child?”
“I…I didn’t—“ I blink at him, confusion mixing with fear as I force the words out. “I didn’t plan for this either….”
“Answer the damn question.”
I swallow hard, my fingers gripping the sheets tighter as though it would anchor me from fainting. “I… I was a virgin,” I admit softly, heat rising to my face as I forced myself to meet his gaze, “that night…the first night you… You were with me…”
“…and the nights after that… I…I think that’s what caused it…”
I barely finish speaking—
CRACK!
Something shatters behind me.
The sound is loud and violent, and I flinch so hard my whole body jerks. I turn slightly to see that the flower vase from the nightstand is now in pieces against the wall.
“Fuckkkkk!!!”
Landon’s voice explodes through the room, filled with raw, uncontrolled anger. I’ve seen him angry before, but not like this.
My body starts trembling again as I grip the bedsheet tightly, carefully moving backwards to escape the sheer force of his rage.
But it doesn’t matter.
Because his eyes are still on me.
Burning with something I’m unable to understand.
And at that moment, I know I’m about to see a side of Landon I’ve never seen before.
