Chapter 11 She is Mine
Isabella’s POV
“Landon!”
Clara’s voice cuts through the silence like a whip, sharp and furious, snapping something in the air that had gone deathly still. The man is still in Landon’s grip, his feet barely touching the ground as he struggles helplessly for air.
His hands claw weakly at Landon’s wrist, his face turning a frightening shade of red, his breath coming out in broken, choking sounds.
“Let him go!” Clara does not waste any time, standing up to her feet so abruptly that her chair scrapes loudly against the floor. “What the hell are you doing?”
Landon doesn’t spare her a glance.
Not even once.
His gaze is still locked on the man in his grip, the expression on his face sending chills through me the more I stare at him.
“I gave you a fucking order,” he repeats, his voice low and dangerous. “So why didn’t you obey me? Huh?”
A strangled sound escapes the man as he tries to speak, but nothing comes out except desperate gasps.
“Landon what the hell are you even doing?” Clara steps forward, her anger rising fast. “Since when do you defend a filthy rogue?”
The words hit harder than I expected, my body going still as a part of me foolishly wonders if…just for a second…he’s truly defending me.
“I’m not defending anyone.”
Landon’s voice is sharp, final, leaving no room for misunderstanding as he speaks. He finally turns his gaze to Clara, and there’s nothing warm in it. “The filthy rogue belongs to me. And no one dares to touch what’s mine!”
The sound of his tone slams into me, knocking the breath from my lungs as I flinch.
“Anyone who dares,” he repeats—louder this time, tightening his grip on the man’s neck just enough to force out a choked gasp from him. “Will face my wrath.”
For a terrifying second, Clara stares at him. Disbelief flashed across her face before it sharpened into something more dangerous. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” a bitter laughter tears out of her. “You’re claiming her now? This…thing?”
“She’s nothing!” Clara barks. “Nothing but a worthless rogue you took pity on and claimed for your own—“
“Watch your mouth when you speak to me, sister!”
“Or what?” She snaps back. “You’ll choke me too?”
For a moment, the air shifts again, heavy and unpredictable, and I think—just for a second that Landon is about to do something much worse. But then, he exhales slowly, his focus snapping back to the man in his grip.
“Alpha…” the man chokes out, his voice rough with panic and desperation. “Please…I didn’t…I won’t do it again…please—”
Something in his tone must be enough, because Landon finally loosens his grip. The man drops to the floor, collapsing in a heap as he coughs violently, dragging in air like he’s been drowning.
But then—
Landon doesn’t give him a chance to recover, he grabs him again…this time by the front of his shirt—and drags him across the floor.
What the—
My heart begins to race again as I realize where he’s dragging him.
Toward me.
I quickly take a step back, but it doesn’t matter. Landon is already in front of me, shoving the man down so hard he nearly collapses again at my feet.
“Apologize to her.”
The command is cold and final.
The man stills in shock, clearly too shaken at what Landon had just said to respond at first.
“This is ridiculous!” Clara’s voice cuts through the room again. “He’s not apologizing to her—”
“Don’t.”
Landon doesn’t raise his voice at her, but the tone in his voice is enough to silence her instantly. He turns his head just enough to meet her gaze, and the look on his face makes it clear—this is not something to argue about.
“Don’t you dare question my orders.”
“I—“
Clara’s lips part slightly to speak, but for once in her life, she says nothing.
“I…” the man begins, his voice shaking.
My heart pounds painfully in my chest as I look down to see him kneeling in front of me. The arrogance in his tone is gone now, replaced by fear.
“I’m sorry,” he blurts out, his voice coming out in trembling gasps. “I didn’t mean…I won’t ever do it again…please—“
“Say it properly!” Landon’s voice cuts him off before he can finish. “Say it louder, so everyone can hear you.”
I take another step back, immediately trying to put distance between us, but the man notices, panic flashing in his eyes as he swallows hard.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry for touching you…I won’t do it again!”
For a moment, I do not utter a single word. My hands tremble at my sides as I force my mouth to work.
Say something, Isabella!
“I… I accept…” My voice comes out weak, barely steady. “I accept your apology.”
The moment the words leave my mouth, Landon lets him go like he’s no longer worth anything.
“Get out of here” he says coldly, his voice dripping into something much more dangerous than I’d ever seen. “Before I rip you into shreds!”
That’s all it takes.
The man scrambles to his feet, still shaking as he runs out of the hall without looking back. The doors slam behind him the moment he leaves, echoing loudly before everything falls silent again.
Why would he do that?
The thoughts ring through my head over and over again as I stand there, frozen, trying to make sense of what just happened.
Why would Alpha Landon—
“Get inside.”
His voice cuts through my thoughts sharply.
I look up to see his eyes are locked on me now, his tone leaving no room for hesitation.
“Yes…”
I turn to leave, forcing my legs to move, but something feels wrong almost immediately. The room begins to get blurry as I blink, trying to steady myself, but the dizziness only gets worse.
The sounds around me begin to fade, and I can’t hear a damn word anymore, everything is distant and muffled.
Then—
CLINKKK—CRASHHH—krrrrshh-tink-tink-tink…
The plate in my hand slips from my fingers and crashes to the floor instantly, shattering loudly, though the sound feels far away.
“You fuckin—“ Clara barks, her voice filled with irritation, but I don’t hear the rest.
Because suddenly, I’m falling.
But I never hit the ground.
Strong arms catch me before I can.
“Isabella!”
Landon’s voice cuts through the haze, sharp and urgent as I fall into his arms. The last thing I see is his face, closer than it’s ever been before.
“Stay with me,” he snaps, his voice rough now, almost desperate.
And then—
Darkness engulfs me.
