Chapter 219 Part 2 Chapter 45

“Is what the Alpha saying true? Does Eleanor have a son for the late Alpha Julio?” one elder screamed at Calisto.

“A bastard cannot take the place of our true Alpha!” another snarled, clearly referring to Julian.

Violet simply sat there in silence, watching everything unfold with calm detachment.

Before Eleanor could fire another question through the mind-link, I slammed it shut. Instantly, a wave of distress slammed into me—not mine, but Idara’s. It grew stronger by the second. I turned sharply to Danae, who was already pulling out her phone.

I reopened the mind-link, this time only to her.
“Something is wrong with Idara.”

Danae’s eyes widened. “It seems that the friend you told me about is at her mother’s place right now.”

I exhaled sharply, forcing myself to stay calm. “Go handle it immediately. Call the guards I stationed there—make sure not a single hair on my mother-in-law’s head is harmed. And call Idara.”

Danae rose without another word and hurried out to carry out my orders. I tried not to let Idara’s fear consume me.

“Have you gotten everything you wanted yet?” Calisto asked, his voice dripping with mockery.

I turned to face him fully. “No. Not yet. Not until the one who killed my brother is dead.”

The entire room fell deathly silent.

“So you’re accusing me of killing my own Alpha?” Calisto demanded.

I smiled slowly and addressed the whole council. “Did I point a finger at anyone when I spoke about the one who killed my brother?”

Every head shook.

Yet all eyes now locked on Calisto. For the first time in my life, the old man looked rattled. He swallowed hard, a thick lump visibly moving down his throat.

“Then why did he immediately assume I was talking about him?” I asked the room. Another round of murmurs erupted. I raised my hand and silenced them.

I turned to Eleanor. “And why is your heart beating so much faster than usual, Eleanor?”

She stumbled back a step.

“Or was it you?” I continued. “Did you poison him?”

“You’re talking nonsense!” she burst out.

“Don’t you dare drag her into this!” Calisto barked.

“Why?” I tilted my head. “Because she’s the weaker one and will break first?”

I pulled out a thick file and dropped it onto the table with a loud slap.

“When my brother died, no one did anything. You all called it shameful, saying, ‘he died on top of a woman. Imagine our Alpha dying during mating.’ You laughed at your own Alpha for dying during sex.” I looked slowly around at every council member’s face.

And they all dropped their heads in shame.

It is not like what Julio did was right but they had belittled him, the one they claimed to respect.

“No autopsy was performed. And Calisto here,” I pointed directly at him, “suggested he be buried immediately without any investigation, so no one would suspect foul play.”

The old man’s face had turned to stone.

“What did he do next? He took the secret twin that only he and a few others knew about, made him Alpha, stripped the true Luna of her title, and arranged for his puppet Alpha to marry his niece. Once the wedding happened, they planned to kill the puppet too, so her son could become the next Alpha.”

I tapped my own chest. “But they didn’t count on one thing: I am nothing like my brother. I was kept hidden from this world, never to be seen. But you all forget, that when a prisoner who is locked up is finally released from his cage, he seizes everything he was denied. And that is exactly what I am aiming for”

My voice dropped, cold and final. “Now that I’m free, I intend to live the life I was robbed of, fully, completely, with my mate by my side. Anyone standing in the way of that… must be removed. And right now, Calisto and his niece from another pack are the biggest obstacles in my path.”

By then, Idara’s fear had finally ebbed away. Danae slipped back into the room and took her seat.

“We exhumed Alpha Julio’s body and performed a full autopsy,” I announced.

Every elder sat up straighter, instantly alert.

“We discovered he didn’t simply die during sex. Your former Alpha was murdered—slowly poisoned over time.”

Gasps rippled through the council as Danae began passing out copies of the autopsy report.

“And I can’t think of two people better positioned to do it than Calisto and his precious niece.”

Calisto threw his head back and burst into loud, mocking laughter, clutching his stomach.

“You have no evidence!” he wheezed between laughs. “This is all nonsense and wild speculation!”

But Eleanor had gone deathly pale.

“Don’t be so sure,” I said, my voice calm but cutting. “Now that the power is flowing through my bones, getting the information I need has become… effortless. You should have covered your tracks better, Calisto.”

The laughter died instantly from his face. He clenched his jaw so tightly I could see the muscle ticking with rage. He still believed I was bluffing. He was wrong.

Before I met Jax yesterday, I had made one quick stop, a final piece of my investigation. Now I held every damning piece of evidence in my possession.

“Eleanor,” I called.

Her head snapped up, eyes meeting mine.

“I know a certain Anna works for you as your personal assistant.”

Her face went carefully blank, but I could see the realization beginning to crash over her. The man she thought had saved her that day wasn’t my brother after all, it was me.

When I first stepped in as substitute Alpha and met her, I recognized her immediately as the girl I had saved years ago. But something had felt off. Her stance, the look in her eyes… they weren’t the eyes of the frightened girl I had rescued that night.

And I was right.

She looked at me the same way everyone else did, like something disposable, something to be used and thrown away when it no longer served them.

When I later discovered she was my brother’s mistress, and that she had gone around telling the pack that Julio had saved her, everything clicked. She had mistaken him for me.

It wasn’t a secret that Eleanor and Julio had been involved before he found Violet and got mated. Everyone assumed it ended the moment he married his true mate.

They were wrong.

It never stopped.

Danae was the one who confirmed it for me. Soon after, whispers had begun circulating through the pack, but no one dared speak them aloud. Not even Violet, his wife, who chose to play ignorant.

But that’s not why I’m here today.

I was here to right the wrongs that had festered in this pack for years. I was here to bring restoration. And most importantly, I was here to protect my mate.

Once I discovered my mate was human, I knew the burden would fall heavily on me. I knew I would have to work tirelessly, sacrificing sleep and pushing myself harder than ever, because this world was simply too much for any human to handle on her own. I had to be strong enough for both of us.

“She was seen shopping for a poisonous item at the physician’s shop,” I stated, my voice cutting through the tension. “And do not bother lying to me, because I have the receipt of her purchase.”

Calisto interrupted sharply before I could continue.

“Just because her assistant was seen purchasing poison does not mean she was buying it for my niece!”

Almost immediately, one of the council elders shot to his feet, anger blazing across his face.

“When the Alpha is speaking,” he thundered, “you will shut the hell up!”

Even I was taken aback by the outburst. To my surprise, the majority of the elders nodded their heads in strong support. When my gaze shifted to Calisto, the old man stood frozen in disbelief, clearly shaken that the council had turned against him so openly.

A slow, satisfied smile tugged at my lips.

Never in my life had I imagined this day would come.
