New enemy [|]
[Ace Denzell's POV]
Coven House was dark and cold inside, with only red lights burning everywhere as if fires were lit in the middle of every room. The air was thick, hot, and stank of blood, clinging to everything like a mist. It wasn't something that could be wiped away by water – the scent remained even though someone bathed after. It was so strong one could almost taste it when they breathed. This coven was the stronghold of the Dark Shadow Coven, which, like the Gravefur Pack, was based on the East Coast.
The Dark Shadow Coven has several ranks within specific positions, among Moroi vampires, that they earn through respect and deeds within vampire society. The Ace vampire is the Alpha of the vampire society, the Pawn vampire keeps the coven clean and tidy, the Knight vampire is the assassin of the coven because they usually turn to dust, the Rook vampire is the leading warrior of the coven, and the Bishop vampire is the healer of the coven as their blood increase healing in other vampires. Dhampir vampires are guardians of the coven, and above all, there is Queen Clementine who rules over the Dark Shadow and many smaller covens around the east coast.
"I heard you brought a bottle from Nagosia Forest, containing a sample of something," Rook Theia asked as she entered my room, which was dark and quite cold and filled with burning candles.
Theia Filbert is the Rook who has medium-length hair cut in a bob style with straight bangs. She has red eyes and often wears brown winged eyeliner. She always wears gloves and a wide-brimmed hat.
I was looking at the bottle, completely ignoring her.
Rook Theia reached forward and wrapped her arms around my waist, but I shook her hands away. But she smiled, ignoring my actions.
"I know that your special maid Pawn Clara is only for spying on me in this coven," I said with a sarcastic smile.
"In my view, it is called care," she slyly said, peering into his tint black eyes, trying to defend her wrongdoings. "But she didn't tell me anything; the whole coven knew it already. Because it could never happen that you came back at night when it was your hunting time, with your return, the entire Dark Shadow Coven is in turmoil. Everyone is talking like Ace Denzell got a big hit this time."
"I don't know about hunting, but there must be something important in this bottle for which powerful alphas of the two packs are fighting each other in order to get," I said, looking at the bottle with his tint black eyes.
Hearing this, Rook Theia's eyes widened in surprise. "Alpha means you....I mean Alpha Liam and Alpha Lowell were fighting for this bottle and now you have it?" she asked. "I also want to look closely," she curiously reached out to grab the bottle, but I quickly pulled my hand back. I wrapped my arm around Rook Theia's waist and pulled her to me, causing goosebumps to swarm every part of her body that I touched.
My cold hands traced every curve as I nibbled on her lips. Fingers gently sliding down the side of her face to neck.
She tried to quickly push me away because it was the first time I had touched her like that, but I pushed her against the wall and pressed my body against hers. As we moved toward the wall, candles flickered.
I said in his low, deep voice, "This is what you always wanted from me, so what happened now? Got scared?" I grabbed her neck and deepened the kiss after not getting her answer.
All this is new to her. I have never even smiled and talked to her before today, when I knew she was going to my future wife - the future queen of the Dark Shadow Coven. She knows why I has done this today, but who cares now? She also wraps her arms around me. She feels my heart skip a beat for the first time today because of my actions. She doesn't resist, instead giving herself to my every movement. The feeling of her skin beneath my palm was addicting. The sensation made me feel alive again, not as if she had been dead in a coffin for centuries.
[Door Knock]
I, who was about to dig my fangs into Rook Theia's neck, was stopped by a knock on the door.
"Queen Clementine calls you Ace Denzell," said Pawn Clara, standing in the doorway.
I saw Pawn Clara standing in the doorway with her head bowed. As soon as I heard the message, I left Rook Theia like that and went to the Queen.
As I left, Rook Theia shot her an angry look, and then looked up to see Bishop Eloise behind her, who had probably arrived after Pawn Clara. Bishop Eloise looked disgusted at Rook Theia, who was still standing and looking down the path that I had taken to Queen Clementine.
Bishop Eloise Walsh is the healer of the vampire coven. She has long hair dyed brown with straight bangs on her forehead. She often wears dark purple feline eyeliner with white gloves.
When you are going to get married to Ace Denzell on this full moon night, what was the need to be his blood whore?
Rook Theia is shocked to hear Bishop Eloise say "blood whore" to her. Her eyes turned red and her pupils became stilted in anger.
She received a punch on her face with such force that it left a red mark near her eye. Bishop Eloise didn't expect this from her at all. "Fuck off, bitch!" she said as she stormed out of the room.
"Queen," I bowed, fisting my hands against my chest.
The Queen was an old woman with dark skin that contrasted sharply with the pale vampires of their bloodline. Her eyes were large, dark brown and her lips slightly red as they curled upward in an amused smile. She looked like she was born in the shadows. In her room, she had summoned the entire Dark Shadow Coven council, consisting of an Ace, two assassins knights, and a Witch Rosaline.
I and two assassin knights had been allowed into the royal room because they were all connected to each other through a web of magic. They gathered to discuss the future of their race. The air inside was tense, and a small but palpable aura of worry hung heavily around all five of them.
