Past life with Liam
[Vivian's POV]
I woke up at that moment, and seven years had gone since then. I'm sitting in front of my fireplace right now, staring blankly into the flames while my mind wanders back to earlier times. I remember how relieved I was to see my mother again and how concerned I had been about my brother and father
. When I got home that evening, they were both in the kitchen working. I was having trouble processing what I had seen earlier. My mother had obviously passed away in front of me. When I closed my eyes, the blood that had coated my hands vanished from view. I can still remember staring down at them. Additionally, I remembered hearing sounds that weren't right.
I have so many questions! How am I going to faint? How I missed my mother and seven years. She is not dead yet. Not because I wasn't content, but rather because I was at a loss for words. I glanced at the photo of my twins. Their father was among them now. It was in my coma when I gave birth to them. How do you feel about that? When I sought to find out from my mother what had happened, she told me that Liam was aware of my pregnancy already and that night he had mixed something in the wine, which is why I was experiencing hallucinations. I despise him. I truly detest him and wish my twins were still with me.
I realized it stung. The hurt, isolation, rage, and hatred that have consumed me ever since. Seven years have passed. Seven years in which everything seemed to be going backward. I feel like someone is constantly pounding holes in my spirit because of the constant anguish. I can't say I ever stopped crying. My mother also doesn't seem to recall when she stopped crying. All I know is that every day I throw up and wake up in a puddle of tears. I have trouble falling asleep. I'm unable to eat.
My babies are missed. The doorbell in my flat makes a loud chime. I get from my couch and slide open the door. There it is—a recognizable face. I give them a small grin and let them in before escorting them to my bedroom. I have tons of photos of my kids and the twins on my bedside table. I take a picture of Liam with my twins on either side and give it to the man with the upper hand.
I firmly said, "I wanted to know what happened over the past seven years."
He hands me the picture and explains, "It's not about your past life with Liam," drawing a chair up to my bed so I can sit on it. "It's about you being here at this point." I placed the picture on the desk next to me and watched him start without making any eye contact.
[Past life]
A howl. A forest. Black and dark. Two dark purple eyes stared into the darkness. The creature let out a low growl, its sharp teeth gleaming in the moonlight. Its fur was sleek and bluish-black, blending in perfectly with the surrounding darkness. It was a creature of the night, a hunter prowling the forest in search of prey.
Slowly, the creature emerged from the shadows, its eyes fixed on the girl standing before it. It transformed into a tall, muscular man with a rugged, handsome face. His dark black eyes and messy black hair gave him an intense look. I sensed danger as he stared into the darkness. Chills ran all over my body, and something crawled up my spine. But then I heard a human voice, and I hesitated, trying to listen to him.
The voice spoke again, and this time I recognized his words. "Enemies of humans are humans. We just love them," he said in his deep voice as he leaned in to kiss me. As his lips touched mine, my body trembled. I felt a scream of pleasure, an explosion of ecstasy, and the world was suddenly filled with light and colors, like a million rainbows. A million colors. I felt a strange sense of recognition from his touch.
Those words echoed in my mind. I had never heard such a voice or seen those eyes in my entire life. I kept thinking about this while driving aimlessly on the road and scratching the back of my neck mercilessly. Suddenly, someone hit my car and fell down. I quickly stopped and got out to check on the person. But the man quickly pushed me and started running again.
"Hey, hey, grab him! That thief is running away with my wallet!" I shouted as I looked back. Then I started running after him. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at us, but no one came forward to help. He had been running for more than 20 minutes, but the thief was probably faster than him.
"AAAAAA! Sorry! Sorry! I'm fine, nothing happened to me," he said, cleaning the mud off his clothes.
Someone's footsteps came closer, and I looked up to see a very beautiful girl staring at him with anger in her hazel blue eyes. He couldn’t help but feel captivated by her beauty, a beauty that radiated like scorching heat. Not that he had never seen her before, but there was always something about her that drew him like a moth to a flame.
"I don't know if this city is strange or not, but the girls here are very beautiful. Shut up, Altan," she silenced him with a slap to his head.
The girl looked into his black eyes, which were darting over her shoulder at someone else behind her. In anger, she kicked his leg.
"Hey, you're so cruel. I was just kidding."
"Shut up," she said politely and thrust something hard into his half-open mouth.
"Ouch! What is this?" he exclaimed, taking it out and realizing it was the same wallet he had been chasing for the past 20 minutes.
"Thank you very much. I just received my salary, and it was stolen."
No response.
"By the way, the people of this city are quite strange. I mean, a man has been crying for help for the past half an hour, but instead of helping, they are just standing and watching."
At this, the girl turned her neck and looked at him. She gave him a strange look from head to toe. "Now, if a policeman can't protect himself in a police uniform, why would anyone help him? By the way, what are you doing here?"
"As you know, I've always been fond of making documentaries since childhood, so I got some free time today to pursue my hobby. Look, I made a video on pickpockets." As soon as she saw it, she started laughing. In those 10 minutes, she laughed so openly for the first time.
"What happened doesn't seem so funny now," he said after watching the video, where his voice was recorded but with the image of a dog.
"This—this—John recorded this. I mean—you—"
The girl sat in the car, laughing as she started it.
"Hey, take me with you!" he shouted, running after the moving car. The girl looked at him through the mirror and increased the speed while smiling. There was something about her smile, something about the way her hair whipped around her face in the wind that made him feel alive in a way he hadn't felt in years.
