SERENA’S POV

I couldn’t sleep throughout the night again and I did not doubt that I was going to break down soon, I’d love for it to happen in Shaun’s pack though.

“Has any of you seen Alpha Basil this morning?” I inquired from the guards loitering around after descending the stairs.

“No” They chorused.

He was probably in his room or the room he and his twin sometimes share, I was stuck in between waiting for him to make his way to the living room or going to knock on his door.

“I should check on him” I informed Aria, there was no time to waste.

Today happens to be the execution day, it's also the day Dean would be declared guilty or innocent in the presence of some, if not all the pack citizens.

He was accused in their presence so he has to be proven innocent in their presence also, that way no one would point fingers at him as a traitor anymore.

It was Alpha Basil’s idea that we work separately to prove Dean’s innocence, I came up with a plan and I just wanted to be sure he did the same.

My plan would work out, I was pretty sure of that but it would be nice if I had a backup plan and that is where Alpha Basil’s plan can come in.

I finished ascending the stairs and I was headed for his room, it wasn’t my favorite place to be but I had to do this for my brother and all of it would actually end soon.

A knock landed on the door of his room, thanks to me. I remained standing by the door, waiting for him to open the door or ask that I come in.

“Do you think I should knock again?” I had to seek Aria’s opinion,

“Of course yes” her opinion.

I didn’t like to bother werewolves very early in the morning by placing a knock on the door of their room, that was the reason I was reluctant.

My fist was clenched not so tightly and it was time for me to place it on the door gently, my heart began to race for no good reason and it was worrisome.

“Time isn’t on your side!” Aria reminded me, it was her way of telling me that I have to get a hold of myself,

It would be best for me to find out on time if Alpha Basil was able to come up with a plan or I would have to make arrangements for a backup plan.

My ear landed on the door and not my clenched fist, I had begun to think he wasn’t in like I thought he was, perhaps I should check him elsewhere.

“Ouuu” I cooed after I gulped.

I didn’t how it happened but I was now in Alpha Basil’s arms and no, it wasn’t an illusion! His touch felt real and that was how I got to know it wasn’t an illusion.

He must have opened the door all of a sudden and because my ear and hand touched the door while my whole body rested on it, I landed in his arms,

It all happened so fast and I would be glad if he could let go of me already, his eyes were on mine and the worst thing was that he wasn’t putting on a shirt!

Over the years, he must have hit the gym and I loved it for him, I couldn’t help gulping every five seconds and it seemed he was lost in my eyes already.

I cleared my throat loudly not because an obstruction grew in it but because I had gotten a hold of myself and I needed him to do the same or his hand might begin to ache,

His hand was supporting my back or I would have landed on the floor a long time ago, I proceeded to bat my eyelashes but it didn’t help, he was still lost in my eyes.

I won’t be able to stand on my own and that was why I hadn’t done that, my breathing pace was slowly returning to normal and I was glad.

“Thank you” I decided to up my game, he had to get a hold of himself this time or I might have to hit him so he could come back to reality.

“Oh no, I mean, it’s fine” he muttered but stuttered at some point.

I was back to standing upright and I wasn’t shocked that things were awkward between us, I did see it coming and it must be the same with him.

“I’m never looking into his eyeballs for so long again” I informed Aria,

“Why?” She inquired even when she knew the answer, I didn’t give a response.

“I didn’t mean to bother you this early in the morning,” I said, 

“I thought it was Bernard, I had no idea it was you” he replied.

His hands were now at his back and I was certain they were in each other, it was more like he was flexing his muscles so I would drool over his chest.

I was determined not to catch a glimpse of his chest again, neither did I want to look into his eyeballs for so long, am I supposed to fix my gaze on his nose?

“Why are you here?” I was about to speak about what brought me here when he asked,

Since it wouldn’t make sense to stare at his nose, my gaze was on his chest and nothing was running through my mind at the moment, absolutely nothing.

“I thought…” I swallowed the rest of my words, I almost said what he didn’t ask me.

“I wanted to know what your plan is and how I can help with the execution, I mean your plan’s execution,” I told him about what brought me here.

“Oh” he muttered, why did that sound to me like he doesn’t have a plan?

“You weren’t able to come out with a plan?” Curiosity made me ask.

“I did, I asked you to trust me on this” he didn’t hesitate to respond,

The same way he asked me to trust him when we headed for the woods and at the end of the night, we didn’t find any rogue.

I wasn’t even a hundred percent sure that he was helping me out on this but Aria said that I could trust him but still, I was interested in hearing from him.

“Care to tell me about it?” I requested, I wanted to know if it was a foolproof one or a dumb one.

“The execution will start in no time from now and I haven’t gotten ready, I wish there was time for me to tell you about it” he mentioned right after he took a glance at the wall clock,

“You can brief me, you don’t have to go into full details” I provided an alternative.

“You have my words, Serena, you have nothing to worry about” he placed both of his hands on my shoulder and remarked, when did we become that close?

“I don’t appreciate just anybody touching my body” I decided to let him know,

He decided to act like a perfect gentleman and he immediately did the needful, Aria thinks I was a little rude but I think I was too polite.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable and you can be sure that such won’t repeat itself” he went the extra mile.

“It better not” I cooed.

He was out of my sight before I knew it, it happened while I was going pink and now he had made his way into the bathroom, that was an indirect way of telling me to leave.

Before Aria gets me wrong, I didn’t go pink because of his chest but because he apologized, I mean, I made a whole Alpha Basil apologize.

“Leave or he’ll come out of the bathroom naked” Aria growled, I instantly turned back and made my way out of the room,

Seeing his nakedness would be disastrous even though I had seen it before, severally, I had walked in into him and his twin having sex with Willow and now Aria understands why I have seen him naked before.

I stepped into the compound and headed for the prison, the guards won’t let me in but I’ll remain by the prison gate and wait for my brother to be paraded out like a criminal that he wasn’t.

He needs to know that I have things planned out already and he won’t be executed, he only needs to show up in front of the pack citizens and do nothing.

“What is going on?” I inquired aloud, a guard had just run past me.

Guards were running in and out of the prison and I couldn’t help wondering what was going on, I would try going in to see for myself what was going on.
