Evie Pov

As I wake up in the morning and roll over to see my mate smiling in his sleep I can't help but feel a sense of peace start to settle over me. Despite every struggle I know we will face for the next couple of months if not the next couple of years, I know I can do it if I keep getting to wake up next to him and see this happiness that I have never seen before. I stretch then roll out of the bed as silently as I can so I can creep into the bathroom without waking him. After he found me last night I didn't get the chance to shower after he showed me how much he missed me and I would like to before we go eat with literally all of our family members and close friends. I turn on the water and hop into the shower as I go about my normal routine I can't help but think about how big of a coincidence it is that his brother returned to the castle the same day we did. I have a strange feeling about it that I can't explain nor do I want to with how much joy swept through Damon last night when he realized his little brother had returned. I step out of the shower and resume getting ready picking out jeans and a nice sweater to wear before doing my hair and makeup. I slip on my shoes and I am abut to go wake Damon up when he pulls open the bathroom doors, his eyes sliding over my body. "Good morning beautiful." Damon practically purrs at me which makes me roll my eyes despite the blush creeping over my face. "Good morning, I was just coming to wake you for breakfast." I say as I plant a kiss on his cheek. "Oh I have been awake since you started the shower I just knew if I came in here we would be late for breakfast, so I decided to stay in bed until you were done getting ready." Damon says huskily and I feel my core tighten at the thought of what he would be doing to make us late. "Hey! You better get out unless you do what to be late I can smell you... and I have already been fighting enough this morning. I am just about to give in." He says with a wicked smile as he starts pressing me into the bathroom counter. I lean forward and I am about to give him a kiss as he relaxes a bit and closes his eyes. It gives me the opening I needed to duck out from under his arm and slip across the bathroom to the door before he even realized what happened. "Sorry, like you said we don't want to keep everyone waiting. I think I am going to go find my parents unless you would like me to wait?" I ask holding back a giggle at how irritated he looks about me tricking him. "No, thats fine go find your parents I know you miss them and they miss you. I will see you at breakfast in a half and hour anyways." Damon says with a small smile. I blow him a kiss and just like that I am out the door and on the hunt for my parents. I find them just where I left them last night in their guest room and I lift my hand about to knock when I hear them whispering. "I don't like this at all... I am worried about her. I don't know if it safe for Evie to stay here the King seems to have it out for the Prince which will just lead to Evie getting hurt. What do we do?" My mother whispers and I hear the fear in her voice. "There is nothing we can do honey, even if we managed to pull Evie away from her mate which I think would be impossible at this point, they would come for her and unless we declare war there is nothing stopping them from taking her back. And even war would do nothing we could never win, all of the packs would unite behind the King against us. Despite my worry for the King I still think with the rouge attacks that she is safer here. There is no way the rouges would make it past the Kings guard. We just need to wait and see I am sure the King was feeling just as betrayed as we did and I was ready to do a lot worse to him than some slashes on the back. Maybe it was an over reacted response and one I don't see happening again now that he knows how it effects Evie." My dad says ever the peacekeeper of the family. But he is right I wouldn't leave Damon and I know Damon would come to find me if I did. "Your right I need to calm down before we go to this breakfast I am just so worried about her, even without her mate she ran away from us and planned too long before she met him. We're we horrible parents, is there something wrong with the pack? Was someone hurting her and we didn't know it? I can't stop these questions from swirling around my head." My mother says softly and I know she is crying I can't stop myself from opening the door my own unshed tears in my eyes as I say "No mom none of that is why I left. My life was perfect my childhood perfect. The pack is amazing and it will always be my home no matter where I am. I left because I wanted to have a bit of my own life before leading a pack or well a kingdom and becoming a mother. I wanted to see the world and learn about other cultures learn things that I would never have the opportunity to learn if I met my mate and became a Luna. I planned to return home once this school year was up and tell you guys everything hoping you would understand. I almost called home more than once because I love all of you and missed you. I didn't mean to make you feel this way I am so sorry mom." I say those tears finally starting to fall as I walk into my moms embrace. We cry for a few minutes before pulling apart and my father gives me a hug as well. "We will love you no matter what." He says as he gently kisses my forehead. "Thank you." I say looking between both of my parents all three of us wiping away tears. "Alright lets stop all these waterworks we have a breakfast to get too." My mom says. I smile brightly and chuckle "Okay, I will lead the way." And with that we head out the door to have breakfast as a family for the first time in months.
