Chapter 100 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 100 Untitled Chapter

"Where the hell is she?" he roared at the guards that had been responsible for taking Rina to the king’s dungeons.

They trembled under his fierce glare, nervous glances darting amongst themselves. He knew these ones— Dex, Cody and Squire.

He knew they were good lads from when he and Lyon had personally trained their class, but he would not hesitate to twist their head off if they didn't start talking soon.

“I’ll ask again for the last time. Where did you take her?”

Their eyes widened at the absolute menace in his tone. One finally gathered the courage to speak. “B-beta Cain, we are telling the truth. We don’t know where she is. Some other men came to take her away, said they were leading her to an undisclosed location where she couldn’t hurt anyone else.”

And you let them?!" Cain growled the words, his face harsh. “Without even finding out where they were taking her to?!”

The boys shifted uncomfortably. "They said it was the king's orders now. He-we couldn't disobey the king."

Cain sighed in frustration and exasperation. It seemed that all around him, he was surrounded by the greatest of idiots. "Just get out of my sight before I’m tempted to break all the bones in your body."

The boys didn't need to be told twice. They vanished around the corner in under two seconds flat.

Cain exhaled, pressing two fingers to the bridge of his nose. Where could Rina possibly have been taken to? He thought of her, scared and shaken and the thought made his wolf growl in rage in his chest.

Wherever she was, he needed to find her, fast. Before she was hurt any further.

The Alpha king couldn't possibly be behind this. He would have sent Rina to the dungeons if he were. No, this reeked of someone else, someone more sinister and he would bet his money that it was the seer.

She wanted Rina badly but why?

And Lyon, where the hell was he? The palace was steadily descending into chaos, and his mate was in danger and he was still nowhere to be found.

Fine. If he had to do this alone, he would. He was going to go to that healer’s hut and torture everyone there until someone started talking or they would lose all their fingernails and—

"Beta Cain." A calm voice suddenly said.

He looked up, startled, hoping it was Lyon or someone who could help him find Rina. What he had not been expecting was a ghost named... Tabitha.

He blinked again, maybe he really was more tired than he thought if he was seeing the dead witch right now but the phantom didn’t even twitch.

Instead her lips curved in a faint smile. “You're not dreaming, Beta. You are very much awake and I’m very much real. You can touch me if you want."

She stretched her hand to him and he quickly took a step back instinctively. He was not normally a superstitious man but he had seen her dead body. He knew there was no rational way that she could be standing before him right now, staring at him unblinkingly.

"Oh for the love of all that is good.” Another woman appeared, her blazing white hair and eyes giving her an otherworldly appearance. “Look here, there’s no time to waste for explanations. Your entire kingdom is in immense danger, some very dark forces wants to take iver your kingdom. And the only one who can stop them has been taken.”

“And just who the hell are you?"

Her lips tightened. "I'm Omaron, the keeper of the portals."

Dead witch? Keeper of portals? These two must be insane.

Cain blinked, his face slowly hardening into granite. “Now listen here, ladies, I don't know what the hell is going on here and I don’t give a shit. There’s a very serious issue going on and if in five seconds, you don't get out of my sight, I'm going to arrest you both and I'll make sure you spend the rest of the night in the dungeons, is that clear?"

Tabitha sighed, her eyes slowly closing. "It was too much to hope for. It looks like we’ll have to do this ourselves…”

But Oman was having none of it. "On the contrary, Bela, I do know

exactly what is happening. But I don't think you do.” She stepped closer until they were eye to eye. “The longer we dally here, the longer Rina remains in danger, the closer the sorceress gets to achieving her plan.”

Cain frowned, his hackles rising, his claw coming out. “And how the hell do you know about Rina?"

"There’s a lot you don’t know, Beta.”

"Then I suggest you better start talking," he said. The two shared a look, then Tabitha began explaining everything right from where Rina had been flung into the spirit realm by her hybrid until just recently, when they’d just made it out only for her to be captured by the sorceress, the dark being who wanted to take over the kingdom.

"So what you're trying to tell me is that the real Rina has been with you and the three all along in the spiritual realm. And her hybrid has been here all along?"

She nodded in the affirmative.

This would explain a lot. Why he had thought Rina had been behaving unusually but he’d thought it was because she was missing Lyon.

“And this sorceress, she's the healer, isn’t she? The wise woman?”

Again Tabitha nodded. And Cain rocked on his heels. He had suspected it but to have it confirmed, it shook him, more than he had thought it would. He wondered what it’d do to Lyon.

"So are you going to help us or not?” This was said by the so called keeper of portals, whatever that meant, and Cain concluded then and there that he didn't like her. Not one bit.

"How do I know I can trust you? For all I know, maybe you're working for this sorceress and all this is just a great ploy to lead us on a merry chase.”

Tabitha suddenly tugged down the neck of her gown to show the nail puncture on her neck. “See this? Why would I want to support the woman who caused me to lose her life in the first place? Even if you don’t trust us, trust Rina. She wouldn’t be friends with us if we were bad people. Help us bring her back, that's all we’re asking.”

Cain inhaled sharply. “Fine, I'll help you. But you’re going to answer all my questions, understand?”

“Yes of course. I understand. I’ll let you know everything on the way to the hideout.”

“Good. First though, we’re going to need more men if we're going to a witch’s lair. Follow me.”
