Chapter 228
Chapter 228
Vanessa POV
I got out of bed and went to the kitchen. I initially was making noise, looking for pans to cook with. I knew that it would make Alfred hurry up and get dressed. I knew that he enjoyed my cooking. I found a couple of loaves of bread. Then, in the fridge, I found the eggs. I knew that I was starving. Carrying four babies at once was exhausting, and it made you feel like you hadn't eaten in days. Even though I ate the night before. My stomach is empty. Alfred came out of the bedroom. I was glad, and I was not going to wait for him to come to the table. I was going to eat regardless if he came to the table or not. He sat down at the table and rubbed his hands together. I knew he was excited about eating breakfast.
I made French toast and put cinnamon and sugar on it. With a huge helping of butter and syrup. I ate three platefuls of French toast. Alfred's eyes were huge. He was surprised that I was eating that much, truthfully, so was I. I don't usually eat that much. Carrying these babies was making me hungry all the time. Which I hated. I spent a lot of time eating and not a lot working out or training. Regardless of what Alfred said, I'm going to work out and train. I may not be able to shift right now, but I was going to train. I'm still early enough in my pregnancy that I can train. When it got to be later, I would have to stop. However, right now I want to go for a walk. I knew Alfred had things to do.
I went to our room and changed into some sweats and a jacket. I put on my tennis shoes. I then walked out into the kitchen and kissed Alfred.
"I will see you later."
" Yes, baby, you will."
I was so happy to hear that. I missed him so much when I was in Romania, and he was here. It felt like I could not breathe without him. I know it wasn't that long since we were apart. However, it felt like forever. It has to be the mate bond. Last night was amazing, making love to him again. It was wonderful. I enjoyed it, and I know that he enjoyed it. It was something that we needed a lot. We needed to be close to each other like that because we had missed it so much. Just feeling his skin next to mine was amazing. I loved how his chest hair tickled my back when he breathed while we slept. I loved how warm his skin was. He left to go about his day. After he left, I got a bottle of water and then went to find Stacey so she could walk with me.
I found her in the library.
" Hey, your majesty."
" Hey."
" What are you doing?"
" Looking up the laws for werewolves."
That was interesting. Why would she be looking up the laws?
"Why's up?"
"I'm taking over the Shadow Pack."
I knew that, however, I did not think it would be so soon. I knew that was planned.
" Are you happy about it?"
" Yes, I am."
"The only thing is that my father never taught me the laws."
We are in the same boat when it comes to that.
" Why don't we study them together?"
" I would like that."
We sat down at the table for a while. We went through two books and tried to memorize them. There were a lot of things that needed to be done.
" Stacey, I was looking for you to go walking and to get some exercise."
" Yeah, let's go do that."
We closed the books. We then left the library and headed towards the front door. We were on our way out when Chris stopped us.
" Where are you girls going?"
" Walking."
" Then I will go with you to protect both of you."
That sounded good. We have not told a lot of people that I'm pregnant again. We are waiting to announce it later. Alfred was going to arrange a dinner to announce it. We hadn't discussed it really. However, I knew that was what was going to happen. We did that with Junior. We walked toward the track. When we got there, I was so happy to see it. I have not walked around the track in a while. When I was in Romania, I walked through a troll forest. Got attacked by that crazy woman, then the vampires attacked. Then I was here again, next to Alfred's bedside. I was glad that they had gotten me when they did. I honestly don't think that he would have lasted much longer without me.
We walked around the track five times. I was starting to get tired. It was lunchtime. We went back to the house. Mac already had lunch ready. There were several other people in the kitchen.
"What's going on?"
"More warriors are coming."
" What do you mean?"
That was a stupid question to ask. I knew that a war would eventually happen again. This time against the vampires. They were determined to kidnap me and try to get me to use my powers, which would never happen. I would never use my powers for evil. I have only used them a handful of times. I have used them when it was necessary, which was not often. Which I was glad for. I don't have control over them yet. If I let my white wolf take over, I never know what is going to happen. Especially when I'm in the trance that goes along with it. I can't see with my eyes. However, I can feel it. The power when it surges through my body feels amazing. That was something that I will be doing: learning how to control my powers.
I knew that we would be going to war and, oddly enough, I was at peace with it. I know I should not be used to hearing about wars, but that is the truth. I'm not even twenty years old yet, and I have been pregnant and given birth, and now I'm pregnant again. Werewolf hormones are a bit much. They can make you horny one minute and then make you go crazy the next. I knew that Alfred was busy, and I would see him later. I ate my lunch, took my vitamins, and then went to sit in the garden in the gazebo. The air was getting cold; however, it felt good. The fresh air was nice as well. I turned around, and that's when I saw tents being set up. The warriors were arriving, and that meant that war was going to happen sooner rather than later.
I had not been sitting there long when Alfred came up. He stood at the entrance to the gazebo, watching me for a minute or two. Then he came over to me.
" Vanessa, we have to talk."
" What about?"
"There's a war coming."
" I know."
