Chapter 275 275

Chapter 275 275
Aurélie POV
Aurélie, what’s wrong?
Fabrice’s voice rushes into my mind, sharp with concern.
Is the baby okay?
The question bursts from me before I can stop it. That’s why I couldn’t shift to fight them off. That’s when I realised… I was pregnant.
He stares at me frozen. I can’t tell whether it’s shock at the revelation itself, or horror at the thought of me facing both of them without my wolf… while pregnant.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Damien demands, his voice dropping into a dangerous growl. His aura rolls through the hospital room, thick and restless. “Fabrice?”
“You’re pregnant?” Fabrice says, already switching into doctor mode. He moves quickly, crossing the room to a corner I hadn’t noticed before, pulling an ultrasound machine free from behind the equipment.
“I’ve lost it, haven’t I?” The words crumble as they leave me. I start to sob, my hands flying to my mouth only to hit the oxygen mask in the way.
Fabrice lifts my hospital gown, exposing my stomach. Damien growls instinctively at him before realising what he’s doing and forcing himself to stand down.
The monitor flickers to life.
Cold jelly spreads across my skin as Fabrice begins the scan. Seconds stretch into something unbearable. Every moment he searches feels like an eternity, my mind spiralling toward the worst possible outcome.
Then
A sound.
Fast. Strong. Unmistakable.
A heartbeat.
My panic loosens its grip, my chest finally allowing air back in.
Fabrice turns the screen toward us, revealing the tiny flicker of life inside me.
“Wait…” Damien stares at the monitor, then at me, utterly stunned. “Are we…?”
“Congratulations,” Fabrice says brightly, clearly pleased with the initial readings. “You’re pregnant.”
Us.
“I’ll set up some additional tests,” he adds, already stepping away. “I’ll give you both a moment.”
As the door closes behind him, Damien cups my face gently and presses a kiss to my forehead.
“Oh, Aurélie,” he whispers, his voice thick with emotion. “I’m so happy. I promise you I’ll be there for everything. Every moment. This won’t be like last time. I swear it.”
I know, I answer through the bond, warmth blooming in my chest as I feel his joy echo back at me.
“I’ll buy the land,” he continues, words tumbling out now. “We’ll build our family home. The twins will have their own rooms. The baby too. Plenty of space so no one argues. Rooms for visitors” He laughs softly, breathless. “I thought I lost you. And now… now we’re adding to our family.”
I can’t help the giggle that escapes me, even though it hurts.
He’s right. This won’t be like last time. We’ll share everything every milestone, every moment. He’ll be there. He’ll protect us.
But the joy doesn’t erase the truth.
There’s still a threat out there.
A shadow that hangs over him… over our lives.
I can’t let our family suffer again. I can’t let our children grow up afraid.
I have to end it.
“Your father, Damien,” I ask quietly. “Any news?”
“Let’s not talk about that right now”
“No. Now.” My voice hardens. “I can’t bring a baby into a world where they’re at risk. What if he kidnaps the baby?”
My thoughts race faster than my body can keep up with, exhaustion pulling at me even as fear tightens its grip. Gaston is capable of anything.
What if he already has Sabine?
“We need to act,” I insist. “We need to find him. Please, Damien. Let’s end this. Then—then we can rest. Then we can live.”
He exhales slowly. “Sweetheart, we lead alliances. I don’t think peace is ever really in our future.” He pauses. “But… I’ll have my IT team start searching again. He has to be somewhere.”
I don’t like stirring a fire that seems to be dying on its own.
But Gaston wouldn’t disappear forever. He’d return in two months… ten months… ten years.
As long as he’s alive, he’s a threat.
And I need that threat gone for Delphine. For Dominique. For the baby growing inside me.
They’ll face dangers simply because of who they are because they are ours.
But this one?
This one we know.
And this one… we can stop.
