Chapter 241 241
Damien POV
We burst into the Alpha House to find Delphine standing at the bottom of the stairs, sobbing as she clutched her bunny to her chest. Dominique is halfway up the staircase, frozen in place.
The moment my wolf takes control, he goes straight to Delphine, lowering his massive head to lick her tear-streaked face, reassuring her in the only way he knows how that we’re here now, that she’s safe.
“Eww, Daddy…” she giggles through her tears, using Bunny to wipe wolf slobber from her cheeks.
Dominique rushes down the stairs toward us just as I shift back, grabbing the pair of shorts mercifully hanging over the bannister and pulling them on.
“What happened?” I demand.
“Mum went berserk,” Dominique says quickly. “Uncle Fabrice had to tackle her”
He doesn’t finish before Florence comes running down the stairs, panic written all over her face.
“Alpha she’s in heat. Fabrice had to put her in the shower to cool her body temperature.”
I’m already moving before she finishes speaking.
I take the stairs two at a time, checking the bathroom first empty then heading straight for my room and the ensuite.
I find them locked in combat.
My beta is fighting his own Alpha.
Aurélie is pinned against the shower tiles, teeth snapping violently as she tries to bite Fabrice’s face. He’s holding her in a tight body and neck lock, every muscle straining to keep her from attacking him.
“Fabrice?” I step inside slowly, a growl tearing from my chest at the sight but I force my wolf back.
He’s trying to help her.
He can’t answer me. Every ounce of his strength is focused on restraining her.
“I’m here, Aurélie,” I say softly.
Her head snaps toward me the moment she hears my voice. Her nose flares, inhaling my scent, eyes locking onto mine.
She tries to lunge for me, but Fabrice is solid, braced and I can feel her pain through our bond. Her body is on fire. Every muscle screaming. The fever has shattered her control, her mind no longer capable of fighting it.
“Fabrice,” I say calmly, never taking my eyes off her, “you need to back away.”
“Damien…” His voice wavers.
“I’ve got her. The children are downstairs they need you.”
He nods once in reluctant agreement.
Turning his attention back to her, he speaks gently. “Aurélie, I’m going to let you go but you need to stay in the shower.”
She snarls at him like a feral animal.
“I’ll get the children back, then I’ll fetch medicine”
“No need,” I interrupt, letting my Alpha aura roll fully into the room, filling every corner of the ensuite. “I know exactly what she needs.”
The water is already running ice-cold, steam absent. Fabrice has been trying to cool her body temperature. I brace myself mentally and physically before stepping closer.
Slowly, carefully, Fabrice releases his grip.
She immediately snaps for his neck.
I move faster than thought.
My hand clamps around her throat, driving her back against the shower tiles. The icy water crashes over us, doing nothing to cool the fury burning inside me.
“Fabrice, leave!” I roar.
I don’t look at him. My eyes never leave hers.
Reminding her and myself who her mate truly is.
If Fabrice hadn’t acted so quickly, she could’ve escaped the house and bitten the first male she found.
I hear him grab a towel, hesitating only a second before the door clicks shut.
“Thank you, Fabrice,” I murmur.
Then it’s just us.
“What’s the matter, sweetheart?” I soften my voice, blocking her escape with my body as I begin to undo her clothes, removing them piece by piece.
“It hurts, Damien!” she cries, clutching her head.
“I can take the pain away,” I murmur.
I remove her bra, kissing her breasts, biting gently at her nipples. She moans, desire threading through the pain, my touch easing the heat tearing through her.
“Do you want me to touch you, sweetheart?” I growl, my teeth grazing her again.
“Yes…” she gasps, eyes dark with need as she watches me.
