Chapter 57 Sylunthys
ZORA
Sylunthys.
There goes that name again!
"My name is Semya. I was about your age when I found out about my direct relationship with the moon goddess."
"You are a direct descendant of the moon goddess?" I asked.
"Yes. And the first." Her voice was no longer child-like. Instead it had the calmness of an old woman whose wisdom was as old as the moon.
"Things were quite awkward for me but not as tough as it was for you. I think, this was because my family were quite into texts involving prophecies and stuff like that so when I started manifesting weird things such as different eye colour change, they were kind of expecting it."
"How old are you?"
"Why are you concerned about that?
"Because a moment ago, you were several times smaller and didn't sound like a sage."
"Oh..." She giggled softly. "Thanks for the compliment. You see..." she brushed her hand over a tree bark.
"Just like shadows can take any form, well almost any form in the dark..... We moon bloods can too. I can be a child, a teenage girl or boy or even an animal like a wolf. Preferrably a wolf because they're majestic."
"So that was you earlier? Watching me?"
She smiled cutely and nodded.
"Wow..." I had so many questions to ask.
Like how does the moon goddess look like?
How does the moon goddess even have offsprings?
What about the other offsprings after her?
And a gazillion more but I was too overwhelmed to arrange them and speak.
My stunned state could only re-echo the things she said.
She was like the moonlight.
As she moved and gesticulated, light radiated out of her and the plants, I realized, actually had colours. It only showed when she moved.
Also, there were fireflies now.
"The other side where you found the daisies and the waterfall is for my other half but you are a moon child so it was only natural that you're led here. The young deer was a distraction." She clarified.
"Why didn't I wake up here?"
"Because you are yet to fully know and accept who you are. If you had ended up here, you'd think you are in a nightmare and your earthly body will be in shock." She explained. "It's safer this way but when you accept yourself, it'll be easier to show up here. That is, if you want to talk to me again."
"Earthly body? Am I dreaming?"
"Sorta." She touched my chin and tilted my face to look at her. "Mmmm... Fiery, Stubborn. Good qualitites."
"This is the first time anyone's told me that. And since it's coming from you..."
"You think I'm lying? Those qualities are the reason you haven't been broken yet."
"My wolf barely talks to me. It's like she's dormant." I complained.
Frankly, I blamed the moon goddess for my sad unfortunate experiences. If I could meet her... the actual her, those were the questions I would be throwing in her face.
"It was necessary."
"How so?" I frowned, a little angry.
"It'd all make sense. Eventually." She went around me in a circle and released another group of fireflies into the air.
I could see an owl perched on a branch at a distance.
"Have you ever heard of your prophesy?" She was in front of me again, peering into my face again at a proximity level I found disturbing.
I shook my head.
I have a prophecy?
"When the shadow eats the sky, and the silver bleeds upon the earth, the last Moonblood shall rise." she sang, drifiting back. "Her hands shall weave life and death as one, and in her choice the world shall be remade..."
She was transforming, light clouded her form again, taking over her as she continued to sing.
"Beneath the eternal gaze of the goddess who bore her." She stopped singing. She was nothing but a figure of light.
"Dear Zora, you must pay close attention and always remember. Every use of your power has a consequence. The life of the Alpha you're also bonded to lays in your hands. A curse that must be broken, "
The light got brighter, steadilly increasing in its intensity.
"You need to help him, if not, he would be the end everything and you'll have to kill him because should the curse get out of control, I don't need to tell you what would happen."
I frowned, did she mean his beast?
"He's be an abomination that shouldn't be roaming around. Either break the curse or kill him. The choice is yours and the power lies in your hand Zora."
The light exploded. Resulting into several tiny dots of light and the forest went seeingly dead.
No more fireflies. No more owls. Nothing but a thick dark forest.
I didn't wake up in a fit. All I did was open my eyes to Marissa peering down at me inquisitively.
She smiled weakly. "You are awake."
The last time I saw her, she was bloody pulp. Now, the bruises were gone.
In relief mixed with excitement, I pulled her into a7 embrace her.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." I cried into her shoulder, the memory of all the Lunas gathering to beat her up replaying in my head.
She rubbed my back. "Don't be. I wouldn't let those vile Lunas touch you if I could. I was happy knowing that I was protecting you. Besides, I hate Jayna. She's a proud disgusting bitch."
"She's dead." I reminded her.
"Don't beat yourself up over her death."
"I'll try. Are you completely fine? How did you heal so fast?" I asked when I pulled back.
"Yes Zora. I'm a wolf and it's been days." She laughed, shaking her head like I had said something silly.
"Days? You mean I’ve been out for days! What happened?"
Marissa drew in a deep breath.
"After you lured the Lunas away from me to yourself, they tried to kill you. Although, you kind of did your thing on some of them, you passed out in time when Ryker showed up."
"However, Ryker got ganged on by the Luna's Alphas and it turned nasty, so much that he ended up killing some of the Alphas before he brought you home. And the... Holy sh!t!!"
"Whattt!" I screamed.
"Your hair... I-it's..."
"It's what?!" When Marissa wouldn't talk, I threw the covers off my body and ran to the mirror.
There I realized I was naked, —not what mattered.
The butterfly tattoo on the top of my cleavage was bigger and glowed alive. Aside that, my normally dark hair was silver, with no hint of black, not even at the roots.
Like the first Sylunthys.
