Chapter 29 Leave
ZORA
I groaned inwardly, rubbing my temple. "I know all about those two women and how I might be the third person with the bond. I need something more indepth."
They wriggled their eyebrows, "So it's you, after all."
"Yes, and I need help. It's getting out of hands."
"To be honest, not much has been said about its. So I'm not technically the right person to tell you whatever you want to know."
"If you, the oldest and knowledgeable person in the pack, don't know, who will?"
They narrowed their eyes at me.
"Do you really don't know? Aside from the basics?"
They sighed and leaned against their chair, "Maybe?"
"I'm lost. I really need to do something before the bond takes full control, and I have no idea who I am anymore. Please, help me out here. "
They rolled their eyes and leaned forward, "Fine. Let's start from the beginning."
I raised an eyebrow, "The beginning?"
"The origin of the bond." They clarified, "The Wildthread bond is nature forbidden."
I opened my mouth to ask a question but the stare they gave me snapped my lips shut.
"Long ago, before the existence of the bonds, when the moon goddess walked this world and everything was peaceful, the moon goddess fell in love and was betrayed by her one true love."
"In hopes that her people won't have to go through the same heartbreak and torture she went through, she created the bonds we all know now as mate bonds."
"Then, in spite, the sun goddess, sister to the moon goddess herself, created the wild thread bond to take revenge for her sister. The main purpose of the Wildthread bond is to connect two incompatible souls." They continued.
"The Wildthread has nothing to do with love and everything to do with lust which when you think about it, is the opposite of love."
"Hate." I wanted to tell them, but I bit my lips instead, I had a feeling I'd be sent out instead.
"The Wildthread bond is also about dominance, chaos, and only appears on individuals who are incompatible in every way, with hate as their building foundation."
"How incompatible?" I blurted out.
Ryker and I were mate first before we became enemies, and this bond happened.
"In a way that they'd be at each other's throat?" They replied, "The first woman with the Wildthread bond was always attempting to kill her mate, while he focused on breaking her completely."
That does sound like Ryker and I,
I mean, being at each other's throat.
"According to your predecessors of the bond, the bond isn’t calm. It dragged their body to heat whenever the other party is around, it just takes over. One of them, the second woman, I believe, almost clawed her skin off in madness."
"Does this feeling go both ways?" I questioned.
They shrugged, "I'm not so sure about that. History never talked about the men."
"Oh wow, only I get to go through the torture. Just perfect!! A magnificent flaw in god's revenge plan."
"Do you want the rest of the story or not? They asked, looking annoyed.
"Sorry," I mouthed and waited for them to continue.
"Oh right! And when you're weak or bleeding or too close to him, you're giving the bond control. So I strongly advise against it.
"Also, the more you fight it, the stronger it becomes." They grinned as if enjoying the mortified look I had on.
"The best part? It only gets worse. None of the women didn't make it long enough to reach that stage, but I have a feeling that you are one tough cookie. I'll be cheering you on from here."
"You are not going to tell me? Make me prepared, at least?"
"Well, I'll tell you this. Physical pull isn't the only thing you should be worried about. The bond needs what it wants and would gladly destroy and break you to get it."
"Well, what does it want? Maybe I can help? Anything to have it on its way soon?"
They shrugged, "Now that's a mystery I'm looking forward to uncover."
"I read somewhere that the bond was also used to tame a monster. Sadly, that's the only thing on that." They added
"And it wasn't any of those two women?"
They shook their head, "No."
"So I can't be in control? Of my own fucking body? Of my feelings?"
"The bond should definitely have it lows and down and can be tamed."
"How?" I scooted closer, my ears perked up.
They grinned, "By giving it what it wants."
I glared at them like I was itching to practice strangulation on them.
Did they really just say give it what it wants? Like hell I would.
"Fighting the bond would only make things worse. Here." They scribbled on a note and handed it to me, "Go to her. She's a witch and might be able to give you something to have the bond under control for now."
I nodded my thanks and left the cabin. Marissa was pacing around outside when I got there.
"Did you get what you were looking for?" She asked immediately, she sighted me.
I sighed and rubbed my temples, "I can't really say. They asked me to go somewhere else."
"Are you serious? They weren't helpful at all?"
"Asides getting my hopes up and dashing it? Totally not."
Marissa raised an eyebrow, a frown gracing her features.
"Well, maybe a little." I added and gave her the paper, "She referred me to this person."
Marissa paled when she read the contents on the paper.
"What's wrong?" I questioned , staring atcher worriedly.
"I'm sorry, I don't think I can escort you there."
"Why, what's wrong? Is the person the pack’s outcast or an evil person?"
She shook her head, "No, it's not about that."
"Then what?" I was getting impatient.
She's my grandmother."
"Your grandmother?"
"Yes, and she's not exactly the nicest person. Her demands are always almost impossible to meet, and she asks for outrageous things. I'll advise not going to her. You'll find other ways to figure whatever it is you are battling out."
"No, she's the only one that can help. I have to go to her."
