Chapter 275 The End - The Alpha King's True Victory

Chapter 275 The End - The Alpha King's True Victory

Five years had passed since the cries of a newborn boy had echoed through the stone halls of the Blood Moon palace, and time had woven its quiet magic over the land.

The heavy shadows of past wars, the bitter betrayals, and the dark days when King Daze had looked for ways to end his own life were nothing more than ghosts buried deep in the past.

The pack house was no longer a fortress guarded by constant fear; it was a home filled with the sound of running footsteps, echoing laughter, and the bright, unbothered voices of children.

Outside, the afternoon sun hung low over the green training grounds, casting a warm golden light across the courtyard.

The air smelled of damp earth, pine needles, and roasting meat from the central kitchen fires where preparations for the evening feast were already underway. Pack members moved about freely, trading smiles and low, rumbling greetings as they went about their daily chores.

On the large grassy lawn near the grand pack house steps, two small figures tumbled across the ground in a tangle of arms and legs.

"Yield, little wolf!" a young voice shouted, full of playful triumph.

A smaller, sturdier boy wriggled out from under the grip, his blonde curls matted with sweat and dirt. "Never, Kael! I'm a full wolf of this pack, you can't beat me!"

Little Daze Jr., named proudly after his father, scrambled to his feet with a fierce snarl that sounded far too grand for a five-year-old. He lunged back at his older playmate, both of them rolling down the grassy slope in a ball of dust and giggles.

A few paces away, standing under the wide shade of an ancient oak tree, Queen Felda leaned against a solid, familiar chest. Two strong, calloused arms wrapped securely around her waist, pulling her back until she was flush against the warm body of her king.

King Daze rested his chin comfortably on her shoulder, his dark green eyes, once wild and tormented, now looked soft and deeply settled as he watched his son scrap in the dirt. He was older now, lines of experience etched beside his eyes, but his shoulders remained broad and powerful, the undisputed alpha of the Blood Moon pack.

"He's going to give the elders a hard time when he gets his first shift," King Daze murmured, his voice a low, rough rumble near Felda's ear. "I can already see it. He has your stubborn head."

Felda let out a soft, melodic laugh, tilting her head back against his shoulder. "My stubborn head? Daze, he has your exact temper. I saw him try to growl at the fence post this morning because it wouldn't move out of his way."

The king chuckled, a rich sound that vibrated right through Felda’s back. He tightened his grip, pressing a slow, lingering kiss against the soft skin of her neck just beneath the edge of her simple linen dress. It was a casual gesture, born of years of quiet devotion, but it still sent that familiar, delicious shiver racing down her spine.

"Let him growl," the king muttered softly. "As long as I'm here, nothing in this world will ever touch him. Or you or Tovanna."

Felda turned slightly in his arms, her olive-green eyes softening as she looked up at him. She reached up, her fingers gently brushing a stray lock of dark hair away from his forehead. "You don't have to keep saying that like you're guarding a door, my king. We are safe. The pack is safe. Look at us."

King Daze looked down into her eyes, seeing the deep peace shining there, the same peace he had fought so hard, and nearly died, to find. He took her hand, lacing his thick fingers tightly through hers, pressing their palms together. "I know," he whispered. "I just... I spent so many years thinking I would lose everything. Sometimes it feels like a dream I'm afraid to wake up from."

"It's not a dream," Queen Felda assured him, a gentle, understanding smile touching her lips. "It's our life now. You survived. We both did."

Across the courtyard, a slightly older, elegant Tovanna walked toward the king and the queen, carrying a small wooden tray loaded with cups of cool spring water and sliced sweet melons. She was growing up so fast, her posture straight and proud, carrying the grace of a future queen, though her eyes still danced with youthful mischief.

"Mother, Father, stop being all soft in public," Tovanna teased lightly as she reached them, handing a cup to her father with a smirk. "The entire lower pack is watching you two act like young pups on their first mating moon."

The king took the cup, offering his daughter a mild, mock glare that didn't reach his eyes. "Respect your alpha, little girl."

"I am respecting my alpha," Tovanna shot back instantly, handing another cup to her mother with a grin. "By reminding him that dinner is ready and the elders are waiting at the grand table."

Felda took the cup, shaking her head with an amused smile. "Go tell your brother to wash his hands before he comes to the table, Tovanna. I am not having him track mud across the wooden floors again."

"On it!" Tovanna spun around on her heel, shouting across the lawn for the boys to stop wrestling, her voice carrying clear across the courtyard.

The king and queen watched their daughter go, a quiet, shared contentment settling heavily between them. The sun continued its slow descent behind the distant mountain peaks, painting the sky in deep shades of violet, orange, and gold, wrapping the entire valley in a warm, protective embrace.

"Come on, my queen," the king said softly, setting his empty cup down on a low stone ledge and offering his arm to her. "Let's go join our pack."

Felda slid her hand into the crook of his arm, leaning her weight against him as they began to walk slowly across the courtyard toward the glowing lights of the grand hall.

Little Daze Jr. came running up from behind, grabbing onto his mother’s skirt with sticky hands, babbling loudly about a victory in the dirt, while Tovanna walked backward in front of them, talking a mile a minute.

As they stepped through the heavy oak doors into the warmth of the hall, surrounded by the chatter of pack members, the clinking of dishes, and the rich smell of roasted meat, King Daze gave Queen Felda’s hand a reassuring squeeze.

Queen Felda looked up at him, her heart full to bursting with a quiet, unshakeable joy. Her parents weren't here to see it, but she knew, deep in her soul, that they would have been proud.

She was a queen.

She was a mother.

She was loved, fiercely and completely, by the most stubborn alpha the northern territories had ever known.

She was no longer the runaway slave.

And as they took their seats at the head of the long wooden table, with their children chattering beside them and their pack gathered around in peace... Queen Felda knew that this was the end of the long road, and the beginning of forever.
