GOODBYE SILVERGRAY

**Third POV**

The streets of Silvergray were filled with the broadcasting of the proclamations of the newly appointed king.

Kelly watched the television and her eyes widened in shock, she had seen this man before at a Coming of Age party. He was obviously a nobody then, how had he become the reigning monarch?

Kelly remembered what she had done at that time and a pang of regret came over her. How could she have missed such a good man?

"We're working on ...."

Suddenly Kelly heard a familiar voice. She jerked her head up and padded over to the television. When she saw Harper standing next to Wyatt on the news, the anger in her body quickly swelled.

Things had been hard for Kelly lately. Her parents, who had never argued before, had begun to fight frequently. Then, her father inexplicably lost his wolf. His position as Alpha had been taken away and all that was left in his life was alcohol and fighting with Elena. Their home was completely destroyed!

All of this happened after Harper defected from Silvergray. That bitch must have done something!

And now such a traitor had become Wyatt's girlfriend and maybe even Luna Queen in the future.

Kelly gritted her teeth and glared hatefully at Harperna's happy face. She decided it was time for Harper to pay, and teach her shameless adopted sister a lesson - some people could never find happiness.

Not everyone was meant to live out dreams of princes and princesses, were they?

Kelly searched Harper's room meticulously. Diaries, letters, certificates - anything that might expose Harper Laurier as the lowest of orphans, an adopted girl. How could such a woman become the Luna Queen? Kelly held all the cards, and the media would be eager for this revelation.

Little did she know that fate had a larger gift in store for her. Someone approached Kelly, seeking confirmation of Harper’s association with witches.

What could be more hated by werewolves than witches? Kelly broke into her first genuinely carefree smile in days. When you’re determined to achieve something, even the universe conspires to help you.

Kelly noted down every peculiar detail she could think of about Harper on her phone. Honestly, the list was endless. That woman had always been somewhat abnormal - no wolf, a penchant for studying strange plants, and zero information about her biological parents. She can be too much of a witch.

Newspapers, social media, and the Anti-Witch League all took a keen interest in this revelation. A magazine even requested Kelly for a live interview to discuss the potential “crimes” the government might be committing - the new Alpha King marrying a witch, what a terrifying wickedness.

Everything was unfolding smoothly. Almost too smoothly. Kelly had already heard the champagne bubbles of celebration.

Until Kelly found herself in a holding cell, facing multiple charges. She still couldn't believe her perfect plan had fallen apart.

______

Kelly protested, pounding the table with her cuffed hands. Until the one person she despised the most appeared before her.

"Harper Laurier, why the hell aren't you dead yet?" Kelly spat venom.

"I'm disappointed my sister has been trying to kill me," Harper wiped the spittle from her face.

"I'm not your sister!" Kelly roared, "And don't think this is over. Even if I die, my spirit won't spare you." She struggled against the chains that bound her hands and feet, making a tremendous noise, but it was in vain.

Harper pulled out a chair and sat down opposite Kelly. She looked into Kelly's flushed eyes.

"I've always wondered, Kelly, why you can't stand me. Maybe there were some conflicts between me and Carter, but I never dragged you into this whirlwind."

"Don't mention my father's name! You wolfless freak, trying to persecute your foster father!"

Harper smiled wearily. "He's not my foster father, Kelly. He's my biological father."

"Shut the fuck up!" Kelly jumped up from her chair, the chains barely supporting her body. She glared at Harper. "How dare you. You want to take over my family, you parasite?"

Harper shook her head. "Kelly, think about it. Do I have any reason to deceive you?" Harper produced a document, a witch-hunting directive.

She opened it and pushed it in Kelly's direction. "Take a look at what Carter has done."

A statement from Carter, who had contributed greatly to the witch hunt with a wealth of inside information from the witch Sofia. He had earned his Alpha status for this.

Harper spoke coldly, "Sofia is my mother. Carter gained her trust by deceiving her, making her believe he was her knight in shining armor.

Of course, when she outlived her usefulness, Carter abandoned her. And her child became trash in his eyes." Harper sneered, "Look how he treated me."

"You liar! I don't believe a word you say!" Kelly's howling grew louder, but her eyes showed doubt.

"I can't wake someone who's pretending to sleep, Kelly. You don't have to believe me. Sometimes the truth is painful, but it is still the truth." Harper rose from her chair, having said what she needed to say.

Kelly covered her face with both hands, a desperate, mournful cry emanating from within. "No! It can't be real. You liar! You've taken everything from me..."

Harper watched Kelly in silence for a few moments before leaving the cell.

Outside, the Sheriff was making sure she left safely. When he saw Harper emerge, he approached her. "Miss Harper, we heard noises coming from inside. Are you all right?"

Harper offered a polite smile. "I'm fine." She paused. "Is Kelly's crime serious?"

"Slander, attempted murder, and assaulting an officer. She could be in jail for a while," the Sheriff explained.

"Thanks for letting me know," Harper said. "If she has any needs in there, please try to accommodate them."

Harper turned and left the police station, knowing that no one in Silvergary would ever be associated with her again.

This idea left her feeling somewhat weary. Years of memories alongside Carter, Elena, and Kelly drifted through her restless thoughts.

She had once yearned so deeply to become their true family, even if it meant becoming another humble, pleasing version of Harper Laurier. And she had indeed done those things.

But evidently, yielding hadn't turned her pleas into reality.

Harper looked up and saw the familiar figure outside the police station, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. She immediately corrected that thought.

Her man was golden. He was unlike those painful, gloomy stories of the past. He always kept a radiant smile for her.

"Puppy, hurry up. Sofia said she found something old and something blue for her daughter."

Harper smiled and ran over to Wyatt. She turned the page of the story she had just finished in the police station. The chapter of Harper Laurier's life was coming to an end.

And from tomorrow, she would be Harper Elliot.
