OUR HOME
**Third POV**
The corridors of the busy medical stations were filled with a sense of urgency as Harper went about her duties.
"Harper," a voice beckoned, "this patient's wounds require attention." Harper nodded in acknowledgment, her hands deftly changing an IV bag before pushing a medical cart through the labyrinthine corridors of the wards.
In the aftermath of a devastating conflict sparked by Simon, the once vibrant King City was now in chaos. The haze of smoke lingered in the air, a poignant reminder of the scars left by the fighting on the streets.
King City's infirmary was stretched to its limits by the number of wounded, making medical resources a precious commodity. Wyatt set up makeshift medical stations in the palace to extend aid to those with less serious injuries.
While still on her path to full recovery, Harper's steadfast determination prompted Wyatt to concede, granting her the role of a temporary nurse.
As weeks of hard work pass, Harper and the Healers tirelessly patch up the city's wounds, their efforts orchestrating a slow return to normalcy.
"You are truly brave," Harper remarked as she gently tended to a young girl's injured arm.
"Thank you, Luna Harper." The gratitude in the child's eyes was palpable as she said it.
Harper's hand gently caressed the girl's head, "No need to thank me, dear, but I'm not Luna."
There was a sweet anticipation in the girl's reply, "You will be our Luna soon enough!"
With a light-hearted laugh, Harper shook her head, preparing to resume her work when a familiar voice danced near her ear.
"Luna Harper?" Wyatt's presence drew near, his tone tinged with playful mirth, "Seems like someone's more eager than I am for you to become my Luna."
A flush graces Harper's cheeks, a blend of affection and mild embarrassment. "Wyatt, I thought you were attending a meeting."
A mocking look of hurt graced Wyatt's face as he said, "The meeting's over, my dear. Have you forgotten? We have a dinner date tonight."
"Oh, right!" Harper's realization dawned, "Sorry, I completely lost track of time."
Wyatt stretched out his arm, a playful smile on his lips, "No worries. It will not thwart our plans."
After changing from her work attire, Harper followed Wyatt away from the medical station. Anticipating a restaurant outing, she's surprised to find herself led through the palace gardens to a resplendent palace.
Curious looks held as Harper inquired, "Where are we?"
Wyatt's eyes twinkled mischievously as he replied, "Our home.
Harper's astonishment was evident as she gazed at the grandeur, finding the concept of such opulence as their home slightly overwhelming.
Wyatt led Harper inside, "This is the bedroom, modest at present but open to your creative touch. The study, conveniently located near the library. The drawing room..."
Seeing the excitement in Wyatt's eyes about their future together, Harper chuckled, "So? The first dinner here? "
"Absolutely," Wyatt confirmed, leading her to the final room down the corridor, "Allow me to introduce you to our dining room."
With its inviting ambiance, the dining room exuded warmth, with a beautiful white wooden table in the center. In contrast to the sophistication of the room, the dishes on the table seem somewhat unconventional, not quite as meticulously presented.
Sensing Harper's gaze on the unusual dishes, Wyatt coughed lightly, "This is... a dinner I prepared for you."
"You made this yourself?" Harper sat down, her eyes curious as she surveyed the dishes.
"Yes," Wyatt admitted with a hint of redness in his ears, "I learned a few recipes from Steven." Harper picked up her fork, took a bite of the beef stew in front of her and paused.
"Is it terrible?" Wyatt inquires, a touch of anxiety in his voice.
"No, it tastes quite good." Harper shakes her head, a smile playing on her lips, "It just reminds me of the breakfast you prepare for me"
"That's a funny memory, huh?" Wyatt raised an eyebrow, "I remember you disappearing without a word after that."
Harper playfully stuck her tongue out, "I thought you were some enigmatic rogue!"
Wyatt feigned offense, "Me? A rogue? Which rogue could match my dashing looks, honey?"
As the lighthearted exchange turned to tenderness, Harper's tone softened. Her eyes lingered on Wyatt's, "I didn't know much about you then."
Wyatt's fingers found hers and they intertwined, the unspoken connection simmering underneath.
He planted a soft kiss on Harper's knuckles, "Allow me to make it up to you tonight?"
_______
"Really? You fell from here before?" Harper looked at the cherry tree in front of her, not much taller than herself, and asked curiously.
"Yes," Wyatt touched the tree with a nostalgic smile, "I was just 4 years old at the time. It scared the hell out of Steven."
"So you were mischievous like any other child," Harper blinked playfully and giggled.
"See, I'm not that mysterious, am I?" Wyatt smiled too, "Come on, let me show you some other places."
Wyatt took Harper's hand and walked on, but somehow found himself in the familiar rose garden without realizing it.
Wyatt looked at the rose garden in front of him and halted his steps, his expression turning somewhat somber.
Seeing the change in Wyatt's demeanor, Harper asked quietly, "Where are we?"
Wyatt gently touched the withered roses, "This is where my mother used to live and also where she... died."
His voice carried a hint of sadness. Harper placed her hand lightly on his arm, her touch a silent comfort. Wyatt clasped her hand in return, then opened up about the nightmare that had haunted him for years.
"So you dreamt the scene of your mother's death again that night?" Harper asked in a hushed tone.
"I'm sorry I pushed you away then," Wyatt nodded and said with guilt in his voice.
"It's okay." Rising on her toes, Harper wrapped her arms around Wyatt's shoulders, "I'm here now, and I'll always be."
Wyatt tightened his grip around her waist, holding her closer, "I love you, Harper. I love you to the moon and back."
"I love you too. Thank the moon goddess for letting me find you."
The weight of their shared pain and the strength of their connection merged in that embrace, and the last barriers between their hearts shattered.
As their lips met, it was as if the whole world disappeared, leaving only the two of them entwined in each other's arms.
