Chapter 61 A wolf Desperate
Ryder's POV
I checked my wristwatch for the umpteenth time as I continued pacing in my office, waiting for the door to open or for something to happen but for the longest time, nothing did.
“Calm the fuck down, pacing won't help our situation." My wolf growled, but I just ignored him and continued pacing.
Unlike me who was desperately trying to find Alyssa, he was ‘letting fate’ do its thing. I knew he was doing it to get back at me for not listening to him despite his warnings to not let her go.
After what seemed like forever, there was a small knock on the door and I immediately threw it open and the Omega I sent with Iris stood there, her entire body visibly trembling but I didn't care.
“Did you see her?" I asked, hoping that she did.
Since all the warriors couldn't do a proper job of finding an Omega, I was going to do it myself, hence why I asked Kate…Freda, or whatever the fuck her name was to follow Iris just in case Ally happened to be there again. This time, I was going to find her and bring her back.
The girl nodded, “I put it in her clothes, before she got into t-the car."
I smiled, “finally!" I thought, going back to my desk where I could monitor the movement of the tracker.
Using my iPad, I watched as it moved between bushes and the smile on my face widened but it soon disappeared when the screen suddenly went black. “What's going on?" I asked, my voice coming out low.
“I-I d-don’t know, i–” she swallowed hard, not meeting my eyes.
No matter what I did, it still didn't come on. “What did you do?" I growled, pushing my chair backward.
“I don't know, Alpha." She cried, but the sound of her voice only irritated me even more. “I did e-exactly what y-you asked me to do."
“Then why the fuck is this blank?" I asked, putting the phone in her face once I was close enough.
" I'm sorry A-Alpha–"
The sound of the iPad hitting the wall put an end to whatever she was going to say. Apology? Apology would not bring her to me but it seems that was the only thing all of them had to say instead of doing their job properly.
"Get out," I growled, the sound echoing off the wall. I didn't have to repeat myself.
I need just one fucking person who knows how to do their fucking job well!
“Jace, my office now!” I ordered through our mindlink but I was met with silence, which was happening more often recently. "Jace…"
The door opened and Iris marched in looking angry. “Can you believe that Omega?" She yelled, “instead of carrying my bag, she was busy playing hide and seek.”
"I'll send someone else next time.” I assured her, and she smiled, coming to stand in front of me, wrapping her hand around me. The warmth that I used to feel when Ally touched me was absent, but what was I expecting.
“What's going on with you?" Iris asked, “you look distracted."
I shook my head, "I just have a lot of things to do…the Alpha's meeting is happening soon and I'm not done preparing everything that is required.”
"Forget about work for a few minutes,” she murmured, pulling me close. “When was the last time we had fun without work getting in the way?"
“Soon–"
“Come on, I miss you," she said, “my body misses you." She added, and a smirk…one that I was very familiar with, played on her lips.
Her top was the first thing that came off, “I miss how we didn't care about some stupid meetings and we can just be ourselves…”
I kissed her, swallowing the rest of her words. She moaned softly, "that's what I'm talking about.” She murmured into the kiss.
With everything going on, I needed a distraction. My hand cupped her face as I deepened the kiss, her fingers working on the buttons of my shirt and when she finally succeeded, she caressed my skin softly.
“Fuck!” I groaned, placing a trail of kisses on her neck, where my mark was. And then lower, to the top of her breasts.
But before I could go any further, there was a knock on the door, causing both of us to groan. "Send him away.” Iris murmured, breathing heavily.
"It might be important.” I told her, fixing the buttons of my shirt much to her disappointment. "I'll make it up to you, I promise.”
"It better be tonight…I'm going to be waiting." She winked seductively, “don't make me wait."
Once she wore her top, she left and Rowan entered, looking everywhere but at me. “Is there something interesting on my wall?” I snapped.
He shook his head, "No Alpha.” He muttered, placing the report on my desk. "Uhm…the Alpha's meeting is scheduled for a few weeks from now at the Blackwood Pack.” He told me, as my eyes skimmed through the details of the meeting.
"Where's Jace?” I asked, "why are you doing his job again?" It's like one moment he's here and the next, he's disappeared to only who knows where.
“He’s taking a personal week off…he said you approved it.”
I massaged my temple softly, "wasn't that last week?” I asked, remembering the conversation we had, the last time I actually saw him.
“He'll be back tomorrow."
I nodded, as he excused himself, leaving me to think about what my next plan would be. Since the people around me are choosing to be idiots and can't get a simple job right, I'd do it myself. I thought about what I knew…she shops at the mall, I just have to figure out when she'd be there again.
Once I figured that out, it was smooth sailing from there.
Iris' POV
I resisted the urge to slam my phone against the wall. That bitch wasn't even here yet, she still found a way to interfere with my marriage to Ryder. He thinks he hides it well, but times without number, I've caught him staring into space.
I know he has been sending warriors to look for her and the only reason I haven't said anything was because they all came back without an idea of where she was.
“What's going on?" My stepmother asked, the moment I entered her room. “Did you fight with Ryder?"
I shook my head, “I saw Alyssa at the Mall, and I think Ryder isn't over her yet."
She frowned, “Of course not, Ryder loves you…you're probably over thinking it.” She said, and I wished that was the case. "You don't have anything to worry about."
“We've barely had sex," I told her, “it's either he's busy or he's preparing for a meeting. And when he finally comes to bed, he's too tired to do anything.”
She thought about it for a few minutes, "then we'll make him want you."
I smiled, I knew she was going to find a solution to it. Contrary to what everyone thought about stepmother, Caitlyn was more of my mom than my actual mother. She always knew what to do and all I needed to do was tell her. She was even a mom to me than her actual dauo.
“The pack needs an heir," she started, “he'll have no choice but to come to you once the elders starts demanding for one."
“I didn't think about that…I guess it's time to have a baby." I told her.
"We have to hurry up though,” Caitlyn said, "that girl has been gone for months, why is she choosing to show up now?”
"I really don't care about the reason, as long as she doesn't stand in the way of what belonged to me."
My mind went back to the Mall, that look in her eyes when she spoke to me held a fire I couldn't explain, but whatever it was, I'll put it off.
No matter what she does, Alyssa couldn't stand beside me, Ryder was mine and I didn't plan to let him go, not now and definitely not in the future, so she might as well stop trying.
“I'll go talk to your dad, so be rest assured." Caitlyn said, already standing up.
"Yes mom."
Operation give birth to an heir was on.
Happy New month in advance, I love you all
