Chapter 54 Spa Day Shenanigans
Alyssa's POV
The girls for whatever reason decided to work in the Pack's hospital today. There wasn't much to do…except watch the warriors fight over who was going to attend to them but nothing serious.
“I seriously need a day off," Aria grumbled, “a spa treatment doesn't sound too bad right now. The thought of it only is already doing wonders to my body.”
Aileen groaned, “you're so right but I doubt the boys will let us out of their sight for now."
She was right, especially now that the shooter was still on the loose and the rogues that they'd caught were insisting they were only looking for someone but it didn't explain the repeated visits and their hidden scent. Zayne was already stressed about that, he'd just lose his mind if I mentioned going to the city.
The thought alone brought a smile to my face. Besides, the two or three times that I've gone to the mall didn't end well and I preferred peace.
When I realised no one was talking, I looked up at the girls to see them looking at me. “No." I said before they even said anything.
“Come on," Aileen argued, “all you have to do is bat an eyelash at him and we're on our way to the city."
“You have an eyelash…use it."
"I'm going to pretend you didn't say that.” Aria said, "but it's going to be so much fun.”
I thought about it for a total of two seconds before deciding to give going to the mall one last chance and if it doesn't end well, I can tell them I said so. And soon enough, I was marching to Zayne's office with the girls cheering for me but didn't follow me.
I just rolled my eyes. Pushing the door to Zayne's office, I saw him head dip in whatever documents he was going through. Him in that position had become a normal thing whenever I found myself in his office…which was literally everyday.
“You look like you could use a distraction." I told him, and the sigh that left his lips confirmed my point.
“Just the person I wanted to see."
He pushed his chair back as he stood up and came towards me. "And why do you have that look on your face?”
I looked away, "what are you talking about?”
He chuckled, "I know more about you than you think, Red,” he started, "especially when it comes to your expressions.”
"What are you? The face police?"
He laughed, not his normal chuckle but a full blown laughter. “When it comes to you, yes." He said, his hand tightening around my waist. “So, are you going to tell me what's wrong? Or leave me guessing?"
“Let's sit down first."
“Red, I'm not sure I like where this is going.” He said, but nevertheless, he followed me to the couch, not taking his suspicious eyes off me.
Instead of the couch, he pulled me to his leg, making sure I was comfortable as I leaned in to him, his scent…and another familiar smell filled my nostrils.
“Did you change your perfume?" I asked, even though I knew that wasn't it.
He shook his head, “why?" I just shrugged, telling him that it was nothing but I couldn't push the uneasiness I was feeling.
“So," I started, ignoring the uneasiness…I would deal with it afterwards. "I want to go to the mall with the girls…I need a break from everything.”
"Red—"
“I know, but I really do not want to walk around eggshells and Xavier or Tristan can go with us." I told him. “Mel is going with us." I added.
He thought about it, and knowing that if I left it to him, he would say no. So I turned to face him, purposely wiggling my waist to face him on his leg, making him groan. "Red!”
"We're going to be safe…I promise.” My hands wrapped itself around his neck, my gaze meeting his. I was hoping this would work before I had to start seducing him to let us go…bat an eyelash my foot. I'm certain he was analysing whether or not to let us go.
The door opened, and I made an attempt to sit properly but Zayne only held me tighter.
“Good thing you're here," he said to Tristan, whose brows furrowed in confusion.
“You miss me?"
Zayne rolled his eyes, “Take her to the city, and there better not be a repeat of last time.”
He looked like he was ready to argue but one look from Zayne, he changed his mind and offered him a mock salute. "I'm ready when you are, Luna." He said, excusing himself.
“Thank you, baby." I said, kissing his lips. "I'll get something really special.” I added, winking at him.
“I can't wait to see what it is.” he murmured against my lips.
He finally let me go and I went to meet the girls who were waiting, their arms crossed. “I'm convinced that every time you see my brother, the both of you can't keep your hands off each other.” Aileen complained.
I snorted, my eyes landing on her hand that was holding Tristan, who was too busy playing with her hair to care about what was going on.
"That's not the point.” She muttered. "Let's just go.”
And we did, this time, we took a bigger car since Lori and Mel were going with us and we wanted to be comfortable while driving hours into the city. Basically just an excuse to go in style.
As usual, the mall was crowded but the girls knew exactly where to go, so I followed behind them.
“I think we can all agree on where to start." Aria said, and we all looked at each other.
"The spa!” We chorused.
Tristan frowned, "isn't that the thing that you get massage…are there men there?” He asked, the fear on his face evident.
“I sure as hell wish there were, makes it fun." Lori said as a matter of fact.
He glared at her, “She's a bad influence…it's not too late to drop her off somewhere.” He said. Although they were getting along more, Lori was making it her life's mission to intentionally step on his toes. That used to be Tristan and Aileen but now, they'd rather suck each other's faces.
“Drop me? What do you think I am?"
“She's just kidding," I told him as we made our way to the spa.
The girls spoke about everything they were going to do and I just listened. The attendant lets us in, showing us where to go and giving us something to change into.
For some reason, I was actually excited. “Maybe this time would be different.” I thought, but I spoke too soon
