Chapter 284 - The Alpha King's Rejected Mate
Amara’s pov
I looked at my bloodied palms and took in a deep breath, heaving at the sight of them and thinking about the nightmares that were to follow with my recent activities but the most important thing of all was if Orian would still want me after all that I had done.
He had told Nexus that he would figure this out but I went right ahead to take matters into my own hands even before I was crowned and now I had gone too far.
I had killed misusing my power and going against the throne killing people who were technically my subjects for selfish reasons. It was no denying that I was a murderer now and Orian wouldn't want a murderer as his Queen.
I took steps back hitting a tree as I leaned against it remembering the hurt in his eyes when I ignored him and gave him attitude for the sole purpose of my plans. I wondered what would happen if he were to find out what I had to do to enchant Cyrus and make him trust me enough to follow me into the thickets far away from his lands.
I shivered in disgust remembering the nauseating scent of his cigars, the way he peered at me with lust in his eyes, and his flirty remarks. His hands grazed mine anytime he had the chance and occasionally he even held my hands and I let him, even going as far as accepting cheek kisses, hugs, and letting him dance with me and every moment I spent with him, there was a painful pang in my chest knowing that I betrayed Orian.
He went berserk finding out that I shared strawberries with someone who wasn't him, he'd go insane if he found out that Cyrus got too close to me and in his terms, sharing strawberries is adultery, cheek kisses would make him reject me and I think I deserve that. I should have been patient and waited for his solution, I shouldn't have had to cozy up to Cyrus to do this but I couldn't think of any other way and now that it was done, I didn't regret anything and I would do it all over again to keep him safe.
We should get going Amara, Cora interrupted my thoughts and I leaned off the tree and bent over to gather my forged weapons, we need to leave before we are found.
I agreed with her and got the weapons together, reached into my pockets for one of the potions I had concocted, and dissolved them with it watching as they poofed into the air with green smoke clouding the spot leaving no traces behind.
The little attention I paid in sorcery classes paid off for this diabolical mission of mine.
Next was removing my clothes including my boots and I had to look around even checking to see if the men were truly dead before hurriedly taking off my clothes and dissolving them just as I did the weapons.
I had already cleared up my scent and all evidence of me being here was gone with one last look at the bodies, I gave Cora full control and shifted, her paws hitting the earth with a satisfactory howl, and off she took leaving the scene and racing in the direction of our lands as we were quite far off while I hoped that we'd get home before dawn as I didn't want Orian to find us out.
