"There he is, kill the alpha!" There commander pointed at me and yelled.
They instantly faced me and I tried to battle them, my soldiers were now few in numbers and it was unlike me to leave them alone there to just die. I was busy fighting off those in front of me and reacted a little bit to late to my instincts when two enemy soldiers sneaked up behind mm with silver swords in their hands. I felt a sharp pain in my chest and it tightened, I looked down to see a sword poke out of my chest.
Blood began to seep out of my mouth. I coughed slightly and tried to move. My vision blurred instantly but I forced myself to swing my sword and cut off the head of the culprit, my beta saw this and panicked immediately.
"Protect the alpha!" He yelled at our soldiers.
I gasp for breath and saw some men hover above me right before I blacked out.
Chelsea's Pov
I was reading in the library when I felt my chest tighten, for almost a minute I couldn't breathe. It was strange because I wasn't asthmatic, Kayla had gone to get us some food so she wasn't around, everything returned back to normal the next minute but I was still worried, something bad must have happened, is happening or will happen. My gut feeling was never wrong.
I immediately phoned my parents to see if they were fine. After confirming their status I still wasn’t totally relieved, someone very dear to me might be in trouble, no one came to my mind but then Alaric also crossed my mind. I waved it off, he's a werewolf or so as he claims, he should be totally fine.
Throughout the day, I wasn't myself and I had to excuse myself to go home, something was wrong somewhere. I texted Torin to see what he was up to and probably set up a meeting with him, he seemed to be well versed in issues like this.
Torin's POV
"The alpha is in grave danger." I heard from the mind link.
I panicked immediately, The alpha was in danger! This has never happened before, the beta of the pack had sent this message through the pack link to every member of the pack.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
There was silence for a minute.
"What's wrong Lucas?" I asked again, getting worried.
"There was an attack, he got pretty injured." He replied me.
I sighed.
"How's his health?" I asked.
"I'm afraid he's not fine, things are looking pretty bad here Torin." He replied me.
I could sense the fear in his tone, who wouldn't be? Alaric was our backbone, if anything happens to him then we all are as good as dead.

Cain's Pov
It's been three days since Alaric has been unconscious, I couldn't bear to leave his side for a second, I had initially warned him about the conspiracy of some elders in the pack who conspired with the vampires, Elder Timothy was one of them, how did I know? Simple! He was caught amongst the assailants who invaded our pack leading to the Alpha's injuries.
He was caught after we somehow won the battle, I could have killed him right there on the spot but I wanted to make an open spectacle of him and send a message to his coconspirator, besides; Alaric would be in the best position to melt out the necessary punishment on the traitor.
We've consulted the best doctors we had and several witches, they did their best to lessen the pain and apply some herbs and spells to make the wound heal faster but Alaric wasn't still awake, according to Alexa; a witch, he had no wish to love and was fighting for his life and a battle only known to him.
his didn't help matters as it was confusing, how could he be fighting for his life when he had no wish to live? It was helpless, I contacted every member of the pack who weren't there to witness the attack and passed the message that the alpha was wounded, I only told the trusted ones the real truth and the rest, I simply told them he is on vacation and indisposed at the moment.
Torin had sent me back a message demanding to know what had happened, Alaric groaned softly which made me hurry to stand closet to him in case he opened his eyes, but he kept them shut and said no more, I explained everything to Torin and could tell he was worried, I am also worried sick about Alaric.
The available medications were administered to him and it was left for him to fight the rest till he succeeded himself, an elder came to me the previous day and requested I step in as the acting werewolf and take control of the pack, another advised me to kill Alaric because he was now wounded and take the opportunity to become the next alpha, I didn't hesitate to kill both advisors, treason wasn't permitted.
My loyalty does not only lie to the pack but also to Alaric who stood by me like a brother wouldz though he was often misunderstood, Alaric was someone who cares alot about others and will go out of his way to make those who he cared about smile, he'd do someone good at times behind their back and never let them know about it.
Ciara reincarnation brought out the best and worst out of him, he doesn't speak much of her but it was evident how much she means to him, he's strong willed and wouldn't admit to caring that much about her, Alexa had mentioned that he would heal faster if his mate was with him, all I could do was pray to the moon goddess to make him feel better.
Torin rushed in about an hour later, he was worried sick about Alaric, we all are.
"What happened?" He asked again.
