Amidst The Darkness

Louise POV

If earlier its fangs and feathers were out, now they're gone. He looks normal in front of me, and he seems like a friend I haven't seen in a long time.

It's weird because I just saw a creature my age who was willing to talk to me.

It's even more surprising that it's a wolf, but it doesn't even move to hurt me.

Father said it's time because if people like this man see us, he will surely kill us or take us to the king.

"Hey! You don't talk anymore. You are annoying tsk!" I blinked because there was a trace of annoyance on his face.

Shit! I couldn't annoy it because it might kill me, so I quickly got close to it and knelt in front of it.

"Yes, I will do anything as long as you don't kill me." I closed my eyes and raised my hands as if I was worshiping it.

Soon, I heard a sigh.

"I won't kill you but on one condition." I slowly woke up when I felt his palm placed on my head as if he was turning me into a child, caressing my hair so I wouldn't be afraid.

"W-what was that?" I couldn't stop myself and stammered.

But my jaw dropped even more when I saw her smile.

He looks..... So handsome...

This is different from what the father says. He doesn't look scary at all.

"I want you to always listen to me. Listen to me always and everyday I want you to meet me here." It was so promising that I wondered about its condition. He wants me to listen to him? For what?

"You're confused, I see, but the truth is that I really just want to make friends and talk. You look cute, though, so I'll be patient with you," he said before laughing at the end, so I couldn't stop myself from snorting. This man is bad. I was even made into a puppet.

"Don't pout like that; I might not be able to hold back." This is how it was when I couldn't hear the last thing it said. But it's up to him. If my life wasn't really in danger, I wouldn't have the patience to talk to him.

"Wait, let me see your knee. That needs to be treated so that you won't attract more attention. Thank you. I'm here. My presence will act as a wall so that people like me won't smell you. Come here." I gasped when he picked me up, and I was now sitting while he was crouching at my feet and examining the wound I had.

But I was surprised by what he did next. It stuck out its tongue, and without saying a word, it licked my wound.

I was shocked to see my right palm landing on his cheek.

I slapped him because of fear and shame.

I don't know, but I felt something strange when he did that.

And I wouldn't say I like that.

It looked at me, and the color of its eyes changed.

The emotion I was feeling earlier was replaced by fear.

Shit! Why did I slap it? He might kill me.

What I thought was the end of me didn't happen because his eyes immediately returned to their normal color, and he smiled at me again.

"Your blood tastes good. Yet I know that you are not yet a complete healer because your wounds do not heal quickly and your blood does not taste completely different. But, yeah don't worry I won't hurt you like I said earlier. I just did that to heal your wound. My saliva can heal wounds right away." I swallowed and looked at my wound again and was surprised to see that there wasn't even a small scar or scar left on my knee.

He was right; he immediately healed the wound I had.

"Oh, your wounds are healed. Now there is no problem." He stood up, turned his back on me, and started walking away again.

"W-wait!"

"I-I thought you were going to say something..." He stopped for a moment but still didn't look back at me.

"Tomorrow I will be here. I don't expect you to comply with the condition. But I will be happy to see you here again lady--"

"D, call me D." I don't know, but I couldn't stop myself and said that.

For a moment, I saw it stopped.

"H-how about you? W-what's your name?" Shit! What? Why did I ask that?

But there's nothing wrong.

He's not a bad wolf.

"Mon. Call me Mon ." He turned and smiled at me, so I smiled, too.

"Thank you, Mon." his smile widened before continuing to walk again.

I am trying to figure out why I followed its condition. Now, here I am again in the place where he said he would make money from me.

I just felt that I could trust him.

"Hello, D. You're here." I swallowed when I saw the joy in his eyes when he saw me.

I don't know, but I'm also happy to see him happy.

Ever since we met, he continued to tell us about things like his painful experiences as well as the hardships he suffered at the hands of his father.

I don't even know who his father is, but I'm really annoyed because almost every day, I see a new wound on Mon's skin. That's not a common wound; I know it's made of silver. Only silver can create wounds in wolves that take a long time to heal and sometimes even cause a scar.

"Your birthday will be tomorrow, and you will be a full healer." I smiled at what he said because it was right. Tomorrow, I will receive the blessing, and I will become the full healer that I hope to be.

Why? Because mother said, that is the day I can learn the things it can do. In addition to that, the mother said. That is also the day that I can look for a spouse or a mate.

Like a father who is a wolf, I can also have a mate. Besides, I have wolf blood. Someone like a mother can have a mate when blessed and granted by the goddess of the moon.

And I am excited because I also want to meet someone like my father.

I looked at Mon and immediately felt my cheeks turn red.

What if he becomes my mate?

Maybe I'm lucky.

He is kind, and I know he will be a good mate. He is a very caring and kind son to his mother.

Because it almost always protects its mother, it is always hurt by its father.

Also, it's not like other wolves who use their strength to hurt the weak.

So, I prefer Mon to be my mate.

"Hey, you're not listening anymore. You're too close to me." It raised its eyebrows and teasingly poked my side.

"Asa! Why should I be beautiful to you, look at your appearance, look at your filth!" I worked hard on it while it just snorted.

"Why, I know you. You were so stupid while looking at me." It's good to slap myself because it's really my fault.

"I'm just thinking about something. To be honest, I'm excited for tomorrow. My mother said that's the day I'll find my mate." I clapped, and when I looked back at Mon, he was just looking at me darkly.
