Fifty four
Natalia.
I felt a weight on my body, I didn’t understand what was happening around me but when I suddenly opened my eyes, I was locked up in a dungeon, a very fat cat was lying on me and I immediately screamed.
“Get off me you animal!” I yelled, and my heartbeat accelerated beyond words. It was then I understood I was in the immortal realm.
“Shut up woman!” A lady in the cell that was facing mine scolded me, I sat upright to check my body, I pinched myself and I could feel the pain, it was all real. The cat had run out of the dungeon gates through the thin hole in it, I took in a deep breath and stood to my feet, I walked over to the gate and leaned in to take full account of where I was exactly.
“Oh my God!” I said. The place looked exactly like the real world. But this was isn’t why I’m here, I’m here to save Rome and not stay locked up in this dungeon. I began to panic, I had no way out.
My eyes drifted to the woman whose cell was facing mine, she didn’t look nice at all and looked as though she had gone through hell. “Excuse me!” I said to her, I knew she knew I was speaking to her but she chose to ignore me.
“Lady!” I called again and this time, she glared at me furiously.
“I see you’re a fresh soul, it’ll be better to mind your business and shut the fuck up.” The lady snarled at me, she was so rude. I decided not to talk to her any longer, she didn’t even look like she was willing to help me.
“Little girl!” I heard the voice of a young man call out to me.
“Yes?” I answered, I reached for the bars once again, the man was locked up in the other bar which was close to the ladies.
“Do you need help?” He asked, I nodded calmly, of course, I needed help. “What help do you need?”
“How do I get out of here?” I asked loudly, everyone in the dungeon busted into laughter, they made me feel stupid.
“Silence!” The voice of a man who I assume to be the guard yelled lazily.
“Look fresh soul, don’t think you’re very smart and will make it out of here, you’re stuck here forever just like us,” The rude woman said, I pretended not to hear a word she said and focused my attention on the young man.
“There is a way to get out of here.” He said.
“How? What do I need to do?” I asked.
“You’ll have to become the slave of the King of immortals,” He said and everyone in the dungeon gasped. I didn’t need anyone to tell me the king was dangerous.
“How? And who is he?” I asked, hoping I could hear the name Rome.
“Isaiah, he’s the king of the immortals and there’s no way you’ll survive if you stay with him,” He said, Isaiah, who could that be?
“How do I get to him?”
“You’re a crazy girl!” The lady commented, I shifted my gaze to her.
“Shut the fuck up you old hag!” I snarled at her, and she gasped but I could the fear in her eyes as I spoke.
“You’re not a normal immortal, who are you?” The lady asked. “Are you a Queen?” She added, I hissed and didn’t pay attention to her, I wasn’t a Queen, or am I?
“How do I get to King Isaiah?” I asked.
“Very easy, a guard will be here to check on the prisoners later, tell him you’re willing to serve King Isaiah and you need not say more,” He said sternly, I nodded.
“You must be careful though,” The woman spoke worriedly. “The king isn’t the problem, but the demon,” She said, I felt a bit scared but I was ready to face whatever trial in other to find him.
“What demon?” I asked calmly while sitting in front of the cell and staring right into her eyes.
“He’s very dangerous, that’s all I know about him, he’s the heir to the immortal throne.” She said, I nodded my head calmly, that demon could be Rome.
“Okay, thank you,” I said to her, the gates of the dungeons began to shake, and my heart skipped a beat when I heard it, I knew it was not something good.
“The guard is here, this is your chance.” The young man said, he immediately walked into the darkness and so did the woman. I was terrified and didn’t know what to do, the only thing keeping me seated in the light was the thought of saving Rome.
“You!” The guard said to me. “You’re finally awake!” He said, I nodded.
“How did I get here? What offense did I commit?” I asked softly, he didn’t look scary. He looked like a normal human.
“You were found unconscious at the king border, that’s against the law and you had to be locked up.” He explained that was the dumbest thing I’d ever heard.
“I want to get free, I want to become the servant of the king,” I said, his eyes grew wide but he didn’t question me. Instead, he immediately opened the gates to my cell, letting me out.
“Come with me!” He said and I nodded. I looked towards the man and the lady side of the cell but couldn’t see them, they were in the dark.
Well, the guard led me towards the exit of the dungeon. Arriving outside the dungeon, a strong scent of roses hit my nostrils. We walked towards a huge door and he knocked on it three times. It was opened by a bald guard.
“Yes? Don’t tell me she wants to serve the king.” The man said worriedly and the other guard nodded.
“Come in.” The bald man said I didn’t waste any time walking in.
“What is your name?” The bald guard asked.
“My name is Princess Natalia,” I said in a hurry. The guard busted into laughter.
“Strike that princess title off your name, you’re about to serve the worst man in the world lady, are you sure you’re up for this?” He asked, I gulped and nodded.
“You may go in then, the room to your left belongs to him.” He said and I nodded. It was this or nothing, I was ready to save Rome.
