Chapter eighty-four
Beckett.
I don't know if I was making the smart move but in some ways, it's still the same thing if I get Isabella. At Least Alpha Lucius also needs her. I have decided to assist Alpha Reginald not because of anything…. The same girl is also needed by my master.
Alpha Lucius and Stefano don't want to tell him the truth. Sometimes looking at him, I just pity him. But not like it's in my position to tell him anything. And again, I need to get Isabella to them, anything that would weaken Alpha Valerio so that Brielle would see a reason to stop loving him.
I need my mate and he's the only obstacle obstructing my way.
I sighed and proceeded to where I was going. I haven't seen Isabella for awhile now although I have been hearing rumors that Alpha Valerio panickingly took her to the hospital.
Some were saying that she fainted while others had a look of confusion on their faces, unsure of what to say.
I indirectly went to the hospital but she was no longer there. Maybe back to his penthouse and the worst was that nobody is allowed in there, except a few.
Well, I am not among the few. So the idea of invading there was now out of the list.
I need to think of a perfect way to hurl her into my plan. Just a simple perfect way!
Though I was curious why the sudden faint, but who would I ask? Definitely not Brielle, and then again, the two people I could have indirectly fished out the information from have been acting pretty strange recently.
I doubt they know my plans but this time around unlike before, I have this feeling that things might blow off one day and that's why I have to act fast and even flee out of here with my mate.
Striding down the hallway, I suddenly felt tense like someone was watching me. I paused and instantly snapped my head back but saw nothing, just an empty hallway.
I frowned. I have been getting this feeling for the past two days now.
The feeling that someone had been following me but each time I turned, it all felt like hallucination but I know it's not.
Did anyone plant a spy on me?
I wondered, my gaze scanning the hallway. I am not a werewolf so my knee sight can't be the same as theirs. I stepped forward, heading back to inspect the hallway. But the closer I got, the emptier the place appeared, just the footsteps of the guards and a few of the omegas walking away.
But yet, I could still feel the lingering stare. And it's fucking not from the guards or the omegas. Someone is watching me. I have been amid werewolves for years so I know what I am feeling, this is not a hallucination.
Did Alpha Valerio plant a spy on me? This is his pack. My heart skipped several beats instantly as the thoughts crossed my mind.
Did he find out anything? My gaze narrowed into two folds, and I grimaced, nervousness etched on my face. Is this why they have been acting strange?!
He hasn't even called me for any information concerning the disappearing she-wolves for days now.
Did he know something that I wasn't aware of?
I titled my head and stared back behind me quickly but saw no one again. It was stark empty.
"There must be a reason behind his sudden behavior," I hummed down in my head and twirled around, walking down to the hallway where I was previously heading to. Although damn alert.
I curled my fists into a ball, feeling the presence still behind me. I spun around again, my face clenched in anger and frustration.
"Who the fuck are you?!"
I spat out harshly, overly fed up with the constant lingering of the present.
"Who are you?" I yelled out again as my sharp gaze scanned around the empty lone hallway again in anger. "I said who the hell are you? Stop being a coward and show your face!"
I challenged whosoever it was bit got an empty response. It was as if I was talking to my voice, my voice was echoing off the wall, bouncing back to me.
DAMNIT!!
I groaned, my jaw clenched out.
Again nobody was in sight, just the faint hum of the fluorescent lights above.
I muttered strings of curses under my breath. I turned back, continuing on my way to see Brielle. But again, the feeling persists. If I took one step, it would feel as if the person was nearing me, making all the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
I quickly stopped again and looked around cautiously. Still, just like always, I saw no one.
I'm getting more than frustrated already.
Someone is following me and I don't know from who. I can't give out any suspicious moves. I was more than sure that I wasn't imagining things. But every time I turned around, there was no one there.
And soon, my mind started racing with different thoughts. I thought about turning back, abandoning my plans to see Brielle despite the magnetic urge to be with her. The last thing I wanted was someone to find out about us.
I had to keep everything secret for now.
I was about to follow my thoughts and leave when suddenly an idea clicked into my head. I quickly scanned my surroundings one more time, taking in every detail. And that's when I spotted a Janitor's cart nearby, filled with cleaning supplies.
Perfect!
I hummed in my head. A dark smirk tugged at the corner of my side lips. And without hesitation, I strode over to the cart and began to rummage through it, making a show of searching for something. All the while, I was aware of the presence lingering around me, watching me.
A noise came, a voice of two guards discussing as they strode away, down the corridor but I didn't look up. I continued acting as if I was looking for something in the cart. And the closer the voice gets, the more I feel the lingering stare begin to fade away.
And soon, I could no longer feel it's weighty gaze on me.
I guess, the person went into hiding.
"Thanks, universe,"
Seizing the opportunity, I quickly sneaked away, making my way toward Brielle's room direction. My heart was pounding very fast and my senses were on high alert.
The moment I stopped in front of her room, I gave a small knock on the door. A faint knock not to attract attention or give away to whoever has been following me that I was here.
My heart was drumming faster, praying that the door would open fast. The twisting of the doorknob jolted me back to the reality. Brielle opened it at the second knock, but upon seeing me, her face turned irritated. She was about to snap at me as usual, but I was quick to cover her mouth with my left palm, pushing us both inside.
My eyes darted around sharply before I shut the door closed.
"Fuck it," I leaned against the door, my chest rising and falling rapidly with a ragged breath.
Brielle quickly pulled my palm away from her mouth and stepped back to glare at me. Her eyes flashed with anger as she suspiciously shot me a hard look.
"Now, start explaining!"
