11. A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL

AURORA

"Jayda open up" the voice of Cassandra met my ears from behind the door as she knocked it gently.

I sat in front of the vanity table in my room, carefully combing down my hair when the quietness of my room was sliced by Cassandra's persistent knocking.

What does she want now?

I sighed and craned my neck towards the door as the knocking continued.

"Jayda open the door please"

Cassandra begging for me to open the door?

That is so bizarre. We don't even see eye to eye and now she is begging me to open my door for her.

I stood up reluctantly and took slow strides towards the door. Needless to say, I had an inkling feeling that Cassandra would definitely come to see me ever since I caught her in her cheating act. But I never expected her arrival to be less troublesome.

Fear of me spilling the beans I guess.

I pulled the door open and was greeted by Cassandra who held a wrapped gift box in the confinement of her fingers.

Her face wore a bright smile, her royal regalia adding to the air of authority that she had in the pack.

What a cheating scoundrel of a Luna!

"What do you want and how may I help you?" I asked her coldly.

"Is that how you treat your guest? You can not even offer me a good greeting first" Cassandra smiled sweetly, purposely shoving me off the way with her hand and walking into my room without my permission. I shut the door and ambled towards her briskly.

"I don't remember asking you to come into my room Cassandra. What do you want?" this time, my inflection dripped of disgust.

Cassandra's eyes roved around the four corners of my room as if she was searching for something before her eyes connected back to mine with a farcade smile playing on her lips.

"My mate really did a great job in getting this room for you. Look now Jayda, my mate gave you this room, I have every permission and right to walk into it as I please" Cassandra proudly responded, placing a hand of hers on my shoulder.

I instinctively shrugged her hand away and stepped backward a bit "What the fuck do you want Cassandra?" I sneered.

"Now that is no way to talk to your Luna is it? you should be grateful I paid you a visit. I am the Luna of this great pack. I deserve your respect and you will treat me as such" Cassandra spoke like she was trying to control her growing anger at my words.

"Respect is earned and not forced. I do not respect two faced leaders like yourself" I scowled, not minding the effects my words had on her.

"Must we always argue whenever we meet? Look I bought you a gift" She handed me the wrapped box but I refused to collect it.

"What is that?"

"it is a gift from her majesty to you Jayda. C'mon take it. Do not be scared. I really don't bite" Cassandra gave a cocky laugh.

"Keep your gifts to yourself. You have always hated and despised me so quit the acting and drop your gift" I blankly told her, folding my arms across my chest.

I was so sick and tired of this woman.

"Look.." Cassandra's dropped the gift on my table and faced me. "We really don't have to always argue. We are stronger together don't you think so?"

Where was she going with this?

"I know a secret that you are hiding and likewise you know mine. We can protect and defend each other, keep our little secrets and nobody gets hurts. What do you say?" she made a proposition.

I chortled mildly and shook my head in disbelief."Was this what all of these fracade act of yours was all about? The almighty Cassandra coming to ask me no beg me to keep my mouth sealed. Wow" mock dripped from my words.

Cassandra rolled her eyes at me. "Call it whatever you wish, I am just trying to protect both of us. So what do you say? Are you in or out?" She extended her hand to me, a maniac smile curving on her lips.

"No" I replied without giving it a second thought. The smile on her face vanished at once and in it's place stood a terrible glare.

"What do you mean by no?" Cassandra growled.

"No means no" I stated, amused by how quickly she could change her character to achieve her selfish aims.

She really thought I would willingly accept to be part of this her diabolical game with the beta, never.

"Do you know what the hell you are about to do?" her words gritted out.

"I do. I am about to save myself the stress that follows in deceiving the alpha and the rest of the pack. I am about to save myself from a scandalous pact with you. I very well know what I am doing Cassandra.

And never come to me again with such a preposterous proposition. Else I'd go report you to the Alpha myself. You disgust me! You are the Luna of this great pack and yet you are having an affair with the Alpha's beta and still you aren't remorseful but you want to lure me into siding with you" I spat acrimonious words at her.

Cassandra was livid with rage, her chest rose rapidly and her fists balled as she listened to me speak.

"I will not and never be a part of your plans. Now get out of my room this instant!" I ordered her out.

Cassandra quickly yanked my arm in a quick but painful grasp, her claws were slowly protruding out and her iris was gradually changing to a burning sapphire green colour.

"You would do what? Report me to the Alpha? And you really think he would believe you huh?!"

Well without proof I knew he wouldn't but I couldn't say that.

"Do you know how much the Alpha trusts his Beta? Beta Axel has saved Daemon's life on countless occasions and you really think he would believe that the same man who has fought bravely by his side for so many years would just betray him? You think this pack would believe that their Luna, the only Luna who has been there for each and every one of their families would betray the pack? Let alone the Alpha she has dedicated her life to? Think again.

Axel will risk his life over and over again to protect the Alpha and with that, Axel has earned the Alpha's trust, no outsider can take that away from him, not even you, if the secret gets out, no one will believe you and I will spread yours so youbare only endangering yourself, think about it" Cassandra asserted confidently with a maniac smile playing on her lips as she walked out of the room.

She knew exactly what she was doing, now I'm forced to rethink my decision of spreading this little secret of hers.

One way or the other, the Alpha will know and I will be there to watch her beg for mercy.
