Chapter 140 Meet the Twin

Chapter 140 Meet the Twin
My eyes caught a figure standing on the terrace. Elijah stood tall with his back to me. A bag was slung over his shoulder, and he wore a cap.

The guards stood guard over him in a tight formation. As soon as I saw him, I ran toward him.

"My king?" I called out cautiously.

Elijah turned, his gaze meeting mine almost unblinkingly. His face looked fine—no wounds, no signs of harm. The moment our eyes met, he smiled at me.

"Delilah..."

"Thank the moon goddess, you're all right, King Elijah."

"I'm sorry... I must have worried you, didn't I?"

We embraced. Relief washed over me now that I was finally reunited with him. Even though our situation was on the brink of disaster, we were together again. No matter how heavy the burdens ahead, we would face them together.

The sound of approaching footsteps made Elijah turn away. He turned to the doorway where Michael and Jeremy stood, and he gave a small nod.

"Alpha Jeremy," Elijah acknowledged. "I came here to ask for your help and to seek your mercy."

"We don't do royal formalities here." Jeremy glanced at me before turning back to Elijah. "Come in, Elijah."

My wariness began to ease. Jeremy seemed neutral toward Elijah—something I hadn't expected after their last encounter when they had nearly killed each other.

"Michael!" Elijah suddenly gasped, his expression changing. Without hesitation, he pulled Michael into a tight embrace. "I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you! I swore to Elder Bishop that I would keep you safe!"

"It's okay..." Michael replied awkwardly. "I was fine staying with Alpha Jeremy."

"Have you heard from Vincent, Michael? I went to the McKinney Pack, but no one knows where he's hiding."

Jeremy and I instinctively exchanged looks. What should we say? This wasn't something we could keep Elijah in the dark about forever.

"We should talk inside," Jeremy said firmly. "A lot has happened in the last few days. One of them is Wanda's threat; she's planning to attack all of us."

"Wanda?" Elijah's eyes widened in shock.

"Yes. Your escape and the identities of those who helped you have been discovered." Jeremy glanced between me and Michael before crossing his arms. "We're lucky they weren't captured by Wanda. Otherwise... I don't know what would have happened."

Elijah didn't answer. Instead, his gaze shifted to me, filled with concern.

"We made Wanda angry. She executed all the royal wolves in captivity and sent their heads to our territory," Jeremy added grimly.

Elijah remained silent, but I could feel the storm of emotions emanating from him—anger, sorrow, and regret. After a long pause, he nodded once before speaking firmly.

"Let's talk, Alpha Jeremy. We need to end this as soon as possible."

The two of them walked towards Jeremy's office.

Michael suddenly whispered to me, "Do you think he'll accept Vincent's fate?"

I looked at Elijah's retreating figure, now disappearing around the corner.

"Deep down... I think Elijah knows that Vincent is gone. But Elijah still hopes that Vincent is out there."

"Hope can be cruel sometimes," Michael muttered.

"But more often than not... it's what keeps us going," I replied, exhaling slowly.

Elijah will eventually meet our children. But for now, more pressing matters demand our attention.

An hour later, a knock on my bedroom door woke me. Groggily, I opened it to find my father standing outside.

"Dad? What is it?" I asked.

"Jeremy is asking your permission to take Aurora and Arthur to meet King Elijah. But if you disagree, we won't allow it."

"Right now?" My eyes widened.

"Don't you want King Elijah to meet his cubs?"

"It's not that..."

It just felt... surreal. I had waited for this moment and imagined it countless times—Elijah finally seeing our children. But now that it was happening, my heart was pounding even harder.

Amid all this uncertainty, I knew I had to prioritize our twins meeting their father.

"Delilah?" Dad asked.

"Yes, of course. King Elijah needs to see them. He needs to meet them."

Dad and I took the twins downstairs. From the living room, I could hear soft voices talking. I peeked in, and when Elijah saw us, he froze and stood up quickly.

He looked refreshed and clean, dressed in fresh clothes.

"I—I took a shower," Elijah stammered.

His eyes were bright with excitement, brimming with anticipation. I took Arthur in my arms and stepped forward, Dad with Aurora close behind.

"This is Arthur, the firstborn," I said quietly.

Elijah fell silent, his eyes full of awe as he gazed at Arthur, fast asleep in my arms.

"May I?" he asked hesitantly.

Elijah sat back down, carefully cradling Arthur as if he were the most delicate thing in the world. Dad handed him Aurora as well.

"And this is Aurora, your secondborn," Dad said.

"Oh, Aurora..." Elijah whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "Hello, my beautiful girl... And my beautiful little Arthur."

With both twins nestled in his arms, Elijah sat in stunned silence. Then I saw tears trickle down his cheeks. He looked at me and smiled through his tears.

"Thank you, Delilah. Thank you for bringing these wonders into my life!"
