Chapter 137 When Alphas Fall
Chapter 137 When Alphas Fall
The rogue wolves attacked viciously but were no match for our Alpha pack. The Alphas met every punch, bite, and claw with even greater force.
The adrenaline coursing through my veins burned hot. Even when my arm was bitten and torn, I fought back immediately, sinking my fangs into the rogue wolf's throat. His body thudded to the ground before he went limp. Despite their greater numbers, they were all forced to retreat.
We could hear the defeated whimpers of those who managed to escape. Most of the remaining rogues lay dead. Some Alphas were injured, but they could still walk and bear the pain.
"Come on, let's go!" Michael urged.
The sight of bodies strewn across the streets and dark pools of blood staining the ground made my stomach churn. I escaped my gaze and hurried after the Alphas toward the city's northern edge.
"You're hurt?" Michael asked.
A deep bite mark throbbed on my right arm, but I could take it.
"I'm fine." I clutched the wound. "It's nothing."
"We'll get it treated when we get to Pinecrest."
I gave him a quick nod before we jogged toward our destination.
Forty minutes later, we arrived at an open field overgrown with tall grass that looked abandoned. Several cars were parked nearby, their engines running. The Alphas from the other pack had arrived.
One of them ran towards us, his expression changing to shock when he saw some of our alphas wounded.
"You were attacked?" he asked worriedly.
"Yes, they caught us. But we took care of them," Michael replied, glancing at the line of vehicles. "What about you?"
The Alpha exhaled in relief. "We're safe, thank the Moon Goddess." Then he turned to me. "Oh, my God! Queen Delilah! Your arm!"
"I'm fine. Don't worry."
We got into the cars, and soon, the convoy was speeding toward Pinecrest. I doubted the rogue wolves would dare follow us, especially into non-royal territory.
All I could do was pray that Elijah would escape from them and make it to Pinecrest safely. Today, wolves have already made the ultimate sacrifice to protect us.
Nana and Victoria.
I prayed that Nana would survive and still be alive when we returned to reclaim the palace.
And Victoria... she had fought to protect us, repaying her debt from her days as the kingdom's elite commander.
I hope you're all right, Victoria. And if you're not, I pray your death was quick and painless. I'm sorry I ever doubted you.
Thank you for giving me good memories, even for a short time.
When we arrived at the Pinecrest border in the early hours of the morning, a group of wolves blocked our way. Michael stepped out immediately, and his presence was quickly recognized.
"Where the hell have you been? Alpha Jeremy said you and Delilah disappeared a few days ago!" The patrol leader, an Alpha from another pack, barked. "Where's Delilah?"
I stepped out of the car, and the Patrol Leader jumped in surprise. I gave him a slight nod.
"I'm safe, Alpha," I said.
"Delilah! Alpha Jeremy and your father have been looking everywhere for you!"
I offered only a weak smile, ignoring the dull pain in my arm. One of the patrol wolves sniffed the air, his eyes flicking to the convoy behind us.
"Those are royal wolves!" he announced, his voice laced with caution.
"You brought royal wolves here, Michael?! Are you insane?" The patrol leader looked angry.
"Alderwood is in chaos! They came to seek an alliance with Alpha Jeremy!" Michael argued firmly.
The patrol leader scoffed. "You'll have to answer for this if we let you through."
"Then let them wait here. Delilah and I will talk to Alpha Jeremy," Michael countered.
The patrolling wolves hesitated, exchanging suspicious glances.
"Fine. They stay here," the leader finally decided.
Michael and I were escorted to another vehicle parked on the side of the road. The patrol leader frowned as he took in my blood-stained clothes and torn arm.
"These royal wolves did this to you?" he asked, inspecting me closely.
I shook my head. "No, the rogue wolves. They've taken over the palace—and Alderwood."
"What? But isn't Alderwood home to the royal wolves?"
"It is. But now they're just slaves, living in fear of the rogues. And Wanda—that false queen—is the one who leads them."
"Son of a bitch! How could the royal wolves not see this coming? How stupid could they be?"
"They were deceived. We all were. And if we don't act now, Wanda will take it all."
Without another word, we climbed into the vehicle and drove directly to the Davenport Pack. Once we were in safe territory, relief washed over me—but so was the pain. My whole body ached. Worse, I missed my twin more than ever.
I felt hollow.
I never should have left them. But I had no choice.
The 25-minute drive seemed like an eternity. When we arrived, Jeremy and my father were waiting in the yard. Word of my return had spread.
Michael and I got out of the car, but before I could say anything, Jeremy let out an angry growl and lunged at Michael. Jeremy landed a couple of hard punches right in Michael's face.
"You bastard! You took Deli on a dangerous mission?! Are you crazy?!" Jeremy roared.
"Stop! Jeremy, stop!" I lunged forward, trying to pull him away. "It's not his fault! It was me!"
"Don't defend him, Deli!"
"If you want to hit someone, hit me instead!"
Jeremy froze. His grip on Michael loosened before he pushed him back, still breathing heavily with rage. Michael stumbled but didn't fight back.
"I'm sorry, Alpha! I was careless!" Michael said, bowing his head in guilt.
"It wasn't your fault, Michael! I forced you to go!" I countered quickly.
"But still, I should have known better."
Dad stepped between them, blocking Jeremy before he could lash out again.
"They made it back alive, Alpha. Calm yourself. Let them rest," Dad urged.
Michael lowered his head. "Forgive me, Beta Luke."
Damn it—it wasn't even Michael's idea! It was mine! Why did he take the blame?
"We'll discuss this later," Jeremy said sharply. "But make no mistake—Deli, Michael—I won't go easy on either of you. This was reckless."
We were cut off by a soft throat clearing. The patrol leader stepped forward and nodded to Jeremy.
"Alpha Jeremy, Delilah, and Michael brought royal alphas to the border. Dozens of them," he reported.
Jeremy's eyes widened.
"Royal Alphas?" His eyes snapped to mine. "Deli, what the hell were you thinking bringing them here?"
