Toxic Cycle

Toxic Cycle
Verlice stiffened.
I folded my arms and stared at him coldly. "How many times did she lie in our room cuddling you and speaking to you like she was your beloved woman?”
Verlice raised his hand in submission and blurted out, "Never. This never happened."
I was instantly relieved. "So you two never had..." I arched my brows and gave him a sharp glare.
"No." Verlice's voice was filled with disgust as if he couldn't imagine having sex with her.
How could that be? If he couldn't even get together with her, why would he marry her in the first place?
But then I understood. Verlice wasn't marrying her because he liked her; rather, he was marrying her because… since I broke his heart, it didn't matter which woman he ended up with. None of them could have his heart.
I raised my chin. "Go."
"Go?"
"You want her in?" I directed him a fake cold glare.
Verlice hurriedly stood up and attempted to walk out of the bedroom.
"Wait!" My Verlice's upper body was still half-naked, how could I give that bitch the chance to see his body?
I cast a spell and pointed toward one of his robes in the closet and put it on him, all with the spell.
Verlice looked at me in astonishment. My lips curved up in a grin. It's really true. Beginner spells help a lot. Now my practice had become more fluid.
Verlice opened the bedroom door. Meanwhile, I cast a transparent spell on myself and stood next to Verlice. Not even Verlice and Tiara could see me.
Tiara immediately pushed Verlice through the door, her eyes glancing around before she paused.
She then turned to Verlice and looked into his eyes. "Verlice, what have you been doing? You promised to take me on a date and then you disappeared."
Verlice's eyes landed on the bed. Confusion appeared on his face for a minute, but then his eyes turned cold. "What are you doing, Tiara?"
Tiara smiled and wrapped her hand around Verlice's hand. "It's no big deal, Verlice. We'll get married in three weeks, I might as well move into your mansion now and get used to it here."
My eyes turned cold. In Tiara's dreams.
"I just received news from Oliver of the Starry Pack. Elsher has returned." Verlice suddenly broke the news, putting the both of us in shock.
"What? Elsher returned? She… she didn't die?" Tiara blurted before she could even stop herself.
Definitely, the news had caught her in shock and she let her guard down to fall for it.
Verlice’s eyes narrowed. "Die?"
Tiara placed a fake smile on her face and explained, "It's just… it's been three months. Who wouldn't have?"
Tiara held his hand. "Verlice, it's been a while since she disappeared, and now she suddenly appears. Who wouldn’t... Anyway, don't you think it's weird?"
"Weird?"
She tucked her hair behind her ear and anxiously said, "Could she have known about our marriage so she stepped out of her hiding place to stop us? Verlice, you should know I love Elsher with all my life and I was completely devastated when she suddenly left, but I think this is strange."
She looked at him solemnly. "You should notice Elsher had the habit of pushing you away and suddenly returning to hold you back once you attempt to leave. This seems like the habit of someone toxic. Your relationship is a toxic cycle." Tiara gently spoke like she was really concerned about Verlice.
I really wanted to cut her hand that clung to Verlice's hand. And more so, slap her face so hard that she would see stars.
I can't believe that she could say such words. Yet why do I need to find any action shocking when it comes to Tiara?
That bitch dared to plant her maids to trick me. It's right to say that she was utterly black-hearted, devious, and heartless.
If I had been an outsider listening to Tiara say something like this, I would have fallen for her lies.
Verlice's brows furrowed like he had fallen into deep thought.
Tiara stepped forward and held his hand. "Verlice, I'm afraid that this isn't good for you or anyone. You should break it." She spoke in a concerned voice.
Verlice still didn't say a word, but I could see the disbelief reeling in his eyes. I mean, anyone would have been shocked to hear that.
Tiara had always claimed to be my friend. Yes, it wasn't even up to three months when I left that she seduced Verlice, and once she heard about my return, she tried to paint a black image.
What if I had first returned to the Starry Pack and sent the information through Oliver? That's how all chances to get together with Verlice would have been completely ruined by that bitch Tiara.
Tiara leaned forward and asked, "So what did Oliver say more? Did he reveal any information? I wonder what Elsher had been up to all this time and why she disappeared." Tiara spoke as if she didn't want to appear like a suspicious person while probing deeply.
Verlice rubbed his brows and spoke, "She wants to see me..."
"Verlice, you can't go." Before Verlice could complete his words, Tiara exclaimed in panic and wrapped her hands around him, hugging him tight.
This bitch really had an effrontery, daring to touch my man all over like that without any iota of shame. I really wanted to tear her into pieces.
I leaned forward and whispered into Verlice's ear, "If you don't push that bitch away from you right now..."
The confusion in Verlice's eyes instantly disappeared. It was then that I realized that the reason he hadn't been paying attention to Tiara was all because he was looking for me.
Verlice immediately pushed Tiara away. "What's wrong with you?" He frowned slightly.
Tiara began to panic. "Verlice, I am worried about you. Why can't you see this? Elsher appeared just when we posted about our wedding. Why can't you see that she's about to cast you in again? Verlice, you can't go. I can't let you go to her. I'm afraid that she will cast her spell again and she will take you away from me. Verlice, you promised to be with me. Yet you never touched me. Is this because you have been waiting for her? Is that why you pushed the wedding so far?"
I could tell that she was one damn good actress. Unfortunately for her, regardless of what, she was bound to lose.
Verlice finally spoke. "Elsher broke and betrayed me, Tiara. Why would I fall for her again? She left me. What reason could there be for me to take her back? Three months is a long time. There can't be a sufficient reason."
I looked at him in bewilderment. He actually began to play into this. Verlice could actually do this? Now it's getting interesting. I'd like to see how Verlice would have her in his palm.
"Well, Verlice. She… she's a good actress. She could weave a lie and paint herself as the victim. You should not go..."
Verlice scoffed. "Victim? What type of victim could change my mind?"
Tiara shrugged and subtly said, "She could lie about being attacked and being tortured for months before she finally escaped. Things like that, Verlice. I'm not saying that's what she would say, but I think she would want to play into being a victim."
Verlice's eyes immediately turned cold. "I have to thank you, Tiara, for giving me this information. I'll take precautions."
My lips curved up. Turns out all Verlice was doing was actually leading Tiara to subtly reveal all the information.
Damn! Verlice is such a good detective.
